From what I remember, he helped oversee the shipments of pine trees from Maine to England. This impressive pre-Revolutionary home sits on a knoll overlooking the banks of the Fore River and boasts of a beautifully manicured yard (I would absolutely love to have a garden party here... something with fancy hats and bubbly, y'know?). I love everything about this museum, really I do...I think it has captured a frozen moment in Portland's timeline. I just think they need some new folks working here who are passionate about the right things. What I mean is, docents really can make or break an experience; when they're engaging and enthusiastic about the information they're sharing, it's infectious. When they're genuinely excited to breathe life into history, they make generations to come also excited. Unfortunately, from what I've experienced, the docents here (and the people inside the Gift Shop) are the complete opposite of that. Here's just one example (and there are many to choose from): I was once standing in the museum in a way in which a particular docent didn't like. So much so, she stopped the tour to make my friends and I reposition ourselves (multiple times) until she was happy, but then yelled at us because our arms were taking up too much space... not kidding. My suggestion is, if you can, come here during one of their events - there's a lot of different people working a lot of different areas, so one bad egg won't ruin your experience. For me, their Colonial Christmas event is absolutely spectacular (especially if there's a light dusting of snow on the ground). They really do capture the essence of the colonial times perfectly from the decorations to the period costumes to the music to the interactive games and to the delicious spread of treats in the Means House available afterwards!

From the famous Portland Head Lighthouse to off the beaten path locations that no tourist ever attended, he found spots to take gorgeous photos and videos. Although the weather on the day we visited was overcast, Norm even planned for those weather contingencies and had multiple locations ready for us to film from. He helped to structure the tour so that lighting was best for the specific shot. Prior to our tour, Norm had also location scouted a variety of different locations so that he could recommend specific spots from which to film rather than us wasting time looking for a spot to shoot from. Norm was also extremely hospitable and friendly and epitomized Maine hospitality. Norm and his company have the flexibility to cater the tour to your exact specifications: You want local only food places for foodies; you want a tour in Cantonese or Portuguese; You want a tour of all lighthouses -- nothing was a problem. Norm also took us to a local restaurant that had some of the best clam chowder in the east coast, and the absolute best lemon mascarpone cheesecake that I have ever tasted in my life. Thank you Norm. He was so much fun, but moreso, very knowledgeable about the city, restaurants, and some of the historical landmarks. he was a very personable guy and you need that type of a personality on a 2 hour walk. It was one of the best parts about our trip to Portland. We were able to try some great local food and drinks and learn so much about a fantastic city! We will definitely be back. We were traveling in our van and we made use of the shower facilities and the laundry facilities. There are two separate shower facilities - some on the exterior and two on the inside. The exterior showers were good - very typical for campgrounds. The showers on the inside were amazing! They were spacious and clean, hot water with great shower pressure, privacy and did I mention clean? The laundry room was attached and was very nice as well. If you have children (we did not), there seemed to be tons of things for them to do. Pickleball, volleyball, a paved surface and plenty of riding toys for littles and a playground. There was a nice firepit at each site and really nice touches through the park. The attendant in the office was so friendly and amazing! She, just like us, loves London (inside joke)! Anyway, I cannot recommend this place enough.

The machines were large and new. Price to run a load was $5.50. Bathrooms were super nice as well. My husband took a shower and was very happy with the shower size and how clean the bathroom was. It's very close to Portland, Freeport and Yarmouth. Only complaint was when it rains the site is mostly dirt so it would get tracked into the RV. Needs more gravel. Would definitely stay here again
