There is a historic St. Petersburg self-guided tour book that they offer for free. Not sure how they do it; but, it's complementary. The book notes the history of many of the old buildings that were built during the 1920s boom of Florida. This is a must-visit for anyone visiting St. Petersburg. There is a Looper stop right in front of the visitor center.

We didn't know anything about St. Petersburg, but figured the Visitors Center was the best place to begin. We were not disappointed! The staff was very welcoming, even offering to place our luggage in a secure spot. We were advised to take the tour bus around the city to get oriented. We did take the bus, but also did quite a bit of walking as the weather was beautiful. We took in the sights at The St. Pete Pier, and had a wonderful meal at Fresco's Waterfront Bistro. Many thanks to Shelli, Visitors Center manager, for helping us make the most of our brief time in St. Petersburg. So many things to see and do there. We wish we could've stayed longer!

Yet, here you will find all the discounts, coupons, and information you need to make the best out of your time in Tarpon Springs. Traffic can get hectic by the afternoon, so definitely take the opportunity to use the restrooms before moving along. During our visit, we were lucky enough to meet Carol, a volunteer at the visitor center. Carol took the time to decipher the area map and lead us in the right direction for lunch (Thank you, Carol!). If you happen to be in the area, stop into the visitor center to take a break from the crowd. Luckily, I have some family in the military. When they are in town I beg em to bring me here. The food court rates and Burger King are pretty standard, but if you get into buying electronics, furniture, or party liquor, this is the place. You need a military ID to buy anything as well. We visited the park recently and were on the hunt for as many bird species we could identify. Found some birds we had never seen before and it was so much fun trying to hunt them down by their calls. I've never not seen a gator when visiting but you had to take your time and look closely. I can't say enough about this park. Just $2 to enter the park. There are picnic areas you can reserve, volleyball courts, playgrounds, trails, restrooms and an onsite nature center. You really cannot ask for much more. Definitely worth the visit!

Great customer service and for $8.00 per piece of luggage for storage it was sooo worth it. One word to the wise, if you paid for transportation to and from the airport thru Carnival you must take their ride as soon as you disembark upon returning to Tampa...Luckily I had remembered the name of the agent with Carnival who told us that we could take the shuttle bus at ANY time to get back to the airport but found out that was untrue. Luckily the bus had returned to bring passengers for the next cruise out and we were able to ride back to the airport with him. I will say the Tampa Port for Carnival S.U.C.K.S. and the cruise itself was, well, lets just say I expected everyone to have mullets and be missing the majority of their teeth. NEVER AGAIN for that port.
