Yarm provides a good choice of clothes shops, restaurants and pubs mostly with beer gardens. Cisras is a family restaurant and is renowned in Yarm for their quality cuisine. The restaurant itself is novelty bit but very elegant and classy, it is a nice escape from the surrounding areas. Unlike some restaurant the fact that all the food is prepared to order is a good selling point for this place. The food is delicious, when I was here last I has the Char Grilled Minute Steal and a couple of glasses of wine, I am certain it only came to about £10. The is great quality for such a nice meal. The decor is very modern and designed to attract trend setters or young professionals. Yarm is a great night out because it has a better caliber of people that you often find in the surrounding town centers.

As a main we both ordered from the specials on the board, my friend had Whitby scampi served with salad, coleslaw and fries, and I had Monkfish wrapped in parma ham with chorizo, welsh rarebit and spicy harissa served with vegetables and fries. Both dishes were fantastic and you could taste how fresh the seafood was. The batter around the scampi was perfectly crispy. My dish was delicious,I really liked the different texture of this dish, the monkfish was flakey inside, parma ham, chorizo and Welsh rarebit was crispy around and the spicy harissa sauce and mixed herbs was very tasty, full of flavours it really gave another dimension to the dish. Robin Hood's Bay isn't the place to go as a foodie, as there is not many restaurants around here...Most of them are part of a bed & breakfast or a pub. We decided that our chances of having a tasty supper would be increased by keeping it local so we went with the fish dishes. Our starters were fine if unexceptional. The salt and pepper squid was well cooked and nicely presented. The salmon pâté could have done with a little longer out of the fridge to make the most of the smokey flavour and the texture of the fish. As with all of the dishes we tried there was a one size fits all to garnishing the dishes and we were quite fed up with cress by the end of our meal - it's really not necessary if it doesn't add anything to the flavour or some pleasure to the eye. I had the fish pie for my main course which looked good, had a decent filling and came with a nice salad on the side. This was a tasty pie and a dish I would recommend. B had the local "special" of turbot fillets which came with roasted tomatoes, asparagus, salsa verde and new potatoes. It looked quite pretty on the plate and the individual components were tasty enough but it lacked something to pull it together as a coherent whole. I was stuffed by now but B managed to fit in a portion of the ginger parkin which came with toffee ice cream and a serving of sauce on the side. This was her favourite dish of the meal which tells some kind of story as she is not normally a dessert girl. The cheese selection looked very good with some interesting local selections. The wine list is quite small with some decent bottles and is reasonably priced. We had the Boco do Monte from Galitia which was a lovely wine and was drinking very well at £25. A word of warning about your table choice in the bistro. The three tables at the back are very near the kitchen and the "pass". If you have one of these tables you will suffer from the hum of the extractor fan - not enough to make your supper unbearable but still very noticeable above the chatter in the room.
