The last time I went to this dental office, I was about 6. My appointment was for a cleaning, and instead of doing that, they took me to the back, strapped me down while I was screaming and proceeded to do a root canal that I did not need, which caused my mouth to be swollen for a week and I couldn't even talk. Fast forward to now, my teeth are now permanently messed up and gapped, so I would NOT recommend this office at all. They are known to give this type of treatment to children, leaving them traumatized such as myself. My mom had to fight me for years to go to the dentist even at 13. I will NEVER be taking my own children here. Also, the room where you get the cleanings done, is one big room with about 10 chairs and a giant window. Truly the WORST dentist I had ever been to. This is the absolute worst place to send a child you love. This is an example of what kind of service and treatment you will get if you don't know any better. I feel so sorry for those so don't have many options. It's sad here food was all in the entrance walk way. They released my child without proper "op care" and did not even finish his procedure. We got there at 1:18 appointment was at 1:30pm we left out at 4:00pm without work down it's more to it but bottom line if you want poor service and want to be looked at like low down trash send your child here read more

The worst place to go arrived at 1:30 for two cleaning didnt leave until 5:00 hate slow slow service they are slow and service is horrible i drove over an hour to get here and people were coming in being seen while i been here. Edit--DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE they are running an insurance scam. This place said he had 8 cavities 3 of which would need crowns. Got a second opinion and turns out he has only two small ones on baby teeth that will come out. This is scary as he would have to have so much work done for nothing. --Original review--We waited 2 hours today and left before we even got to see the dentist. Last time we waited 45 minutes before we saw got to the back. This place is terrible and would never recommend to anyone. The staff is rude. It's crazy how a few assistance with terrible attitudes and no patience for autistic children can make you never want to go back to their office again. The guy who was taking the mouth X-rays seemed to be in a bad mood and was very rough and careless with my 6 year old autistic son. He had no patience and forced my sons mouth shut twice as my son grunted and cried with tears rolling down his face. He couldn't have cared less that he was hurting my child. I don't think getting mouth X-rays at the dentist should be painful... at least I don't remember that being a painful experience. It made me very uncomfortable and I almost decided we would leave right then. Also the other assistant who was taking weight had a terrible attitude and no patience as well. My oldest son would ask her questions and she wouldn't answer. She acted like she hated her job. If their goal was to make their patients uneasy then they succeeded. Thankfully the dentist ended up being very nice but we were so uncomfortable with the rest of the experience that we decided not to come back. I'm pretty frustrated that I drove an hour and a half away with gas prices the way they are right now for such a terrible experience. UPDATE: I have been calling them for 3 days. I've left at least 4 voicemails. Not a single call back. They were supposed to send over documents through emails 10 days ago but never did and now won't pick up the phone or respond to any of my voicemails which left me in a bad predicament with my other dentist office. read more

One of the worst places to seek dental care. I took my five children to Vital Smiles six months ago. I make sure they all take time with their teeth at home. After they all received service, I was surprised when the health professional told me three out of my five children had cavities. I refused dental care for them there and didn't reschedule an appointment. They just received their six month checkup from another dentist this week and they all had NO CAVITIES, not one! So Vital Smiles LIED about their teeth! They were getting ready to wreck my children's mouth with fillings and stainless steel crowns. Be proactive...ask to see your child's x-ray when they receive service to be sure it's needed. Dentists tell you cavities can't be reversed but they can be if they are caught early. Seek a dentist that is looking to save your teeth and not fatten their pockets with unnecessary dental work. Latricia C. read more

Extremely long wait times! Even with appointments you are looking at over an hour on waiting for the Dr. to take two minutes to look at your teeth. This isn't our first time here, but this time is our last. You may be told that they are "down one Dr.", but we have heard that every time we visited. I will not be taking my daughter back to Vital Smiles in Albany. The wait time was horrible especially since we arrived from out of town and traveled almost an hour and half to get there. There were too many unsupervised children screaming, yelling, dragging chairs all over the place. I could barely hear staff call my daughter name due to the yelling and playful screaming. No one tried to quiet their child nor did staff say anything about all the noise. I am not accustom to an environment that is not organized and too crowded and loud. Plus after several other visits my daughter was still on the waiting list after one year and she still haven't received her braces. How many visits must she come to, to get her braces? Seems as though her insurance is being billed over and over, but still can't get braces although her insurance approved it over a year ago. read more

Every experience I have had at Vital Smiles was good. Its kid friendly and the staff make sure your child is ok. My kids always ask for the assistant by name (Ms. Melba). She makes sure they are comfortable and she takes time out to explain everything she's doing. She's an awesome assistant and great for vital smiles business. read more
