I hadn't donated in over 10 years so I went in ahead of time and asked all the questions I had. The receptionist answered them all and I was out of there quickly with an appointment for the next week. That following week I went in for my appt. and was greeted at the front desk with a free sticker because that happened to be the giveaway that day. Afterward, I was taken into a private room and got my finger pricked, weighed, and asked personal "blood donating" questions. I was left with a tablet with a survey on it and completed it in about 10 minutes. After I was done, I was taken into the main room where they do the blood drawing. The lady doing mine was super personable, funny, and made sure to talk me through the whole process. She kept checking in with me to see how I was feeling and made sure I waited long enough after it was done before I got up. I ended the trip with a solid visit to the snack counter, where I was offered ANY type of juice or cheese from the fridge, and an endless supply of snacks on the counter. I went for apple juice + ranch Doritos because I'm an adult. The volunteer behind the counter even wrote me a post-if to remind me what time I'm allowed to leave. Overall it was a great experience! I already have my next appt. to donate in 8 weeks.

The staff here is competent and friendly…read more I get my donation done with little pain and my veins are hard to see, but these people are sure experienced and they just feel my arm and know where my vein is. Poke and it's just a little pinch and then it's fine. There are some things you can do to make your visit go well, and one main thing is to hydrate well so your veins will be nice and juicy to find and your blood will flow better. The other thing is to fill out the online questions BEFORE your appointment and print and bring the little square code thingy to the front desk. This will save a bunch of time. A tech will take you into a little room for privacy where they will take your vitals and do a finger prick to measure your blood hemoglobin. This is how thick you blood is with red blood cells. Then you will go to the blood draw station. The blood draw goes as fast as it takes to get 500 ml. of blood out of you ... basically a pint. It takes me about 7 min. When you're done they will bandage you up and let to have at all the free snacks! I love me some Doritos! If you want to donate blood, and it's a good thing to do, this is the place to come. Be sure to go to their website and make an appointment ahead of time. You can donate every 8 weeks id you want. A real good thing about giving blood, is you'll get a free cholesterol test! The results will be posted to your online account under "wellness".

I called the local fire department and was referred over to Red Cross as the have a smoke detector program which offers free smoke detectors as well as installation. My being 70 years young this filled my heart with gratitude to know my daughter will be safe in her home. as a side note: the day after I called to ask about these a house down the street burned. No smoke detectors present. please be safe and make sure you have these in your home and if not call the wonderful people of the Yolo, Woodland Red Cross. they are an outstanding service.

Nurse Christina was super helpful and made the process go smoothly. She went over everything and made sure I was okay during the whole process. If you're ever looking to donate blood or platelets/plasma, please don't overthink it and just make that appointment and go in. So many patients are in crucial need of our help.
