Denn's carries sweet potatoes, gluten-free breads and flours, vegan meats, black and pinto beans, amaranth, teff... pretty much anything you can't find elsewhere. Prices for these items are three times what you'd pay for their non-organic, wheat laden and processed counterparts, but then again you're buying cruelty free products that don't contain fillers or chemicals. If I lived here, this would be my go-to place for all my specialty grocery needs. Their bakery even carries vegan sourdough bread. There is an abundance of tempting spreads, from beet hummus to chocolate syrup made with just agave and cocoa. The gluten-free breads here look downright delicious and healthy, including sunflower, sesame and quinoa loafs, all for $2.99. Even if you haven't yet jumped on the wheat-free band wagon, worth a try.

I was a little disappointed of the limited gluten-free options. The top two tiers of the cake display as well as the cookies and short breads all contained wheat flour. Only the bottom tier was raw, vegan and gluten-free. On my first visit, there was only one gluten-free cake, on my next visit at least they had three. They do have some additional gluten-free options in the refrigerated section, like chia pudding or chocolate mousse. Flavor wise, the raw cakes are awesome. They use cashew nuts to make the cheezecake filling with no added sugar, only natural sugar from dates or fruit. You get the healthy fat from coconut and walnuts. Guilt-free and nutritious dessert! Between the strawberry mint, chocolate coconut and strawberry rhubarb, it's hard to pick a favorite. The chocolate one was sweeter and the most decadent. Prices are high for Berlin standards, about $7 per slice of cake. Please stop using wheat flour! There are so many gluten-free flours you can use in your cakes to make them healthier.

However it took me a while to actually get to the shop to use it. When I finally got in the shop and grabbed everything I wanted to buy with my coupon, they said the coupon code was invalid.. even though no-one ever used it before and the coupon was still sealed in the enveloppe when I handed it over. (And all the data was also correct: my name was on it, the date of purchase, a coupon code and a signature) There was no service or whatsoever regarding this problem, the girl in the shop simply said that I should call the hotline to get this problem fixed. So, the same day I called them.. apparently no one was there to answer my call.. Better yet: the next 2 weeks I tried calling them for almost every day and I never got someone to answer my call, actually the automatic lady on the phone said: "nobody is available to answer your call, please send an e-mail or leave a message afther the beep." I´ve sent multiple e-mails and guess what: still haven´t got an answer! This is truely the worst service imaginable. Their shop looks so gorgeous and sophisticated, so does the food and accessoires in their shop by the way. But purely by their lack of service I now refuse to spend a dime at Kochhaus. Too bad though, because if they would have given me the proper service, I would probably be a returning customer and brand ambassador. Their loss.

The meals are affordable. The idea is perfect for somebody who is new to cooking because they make it so simple! My boyfriend and I got a vegetarian pasta with sun dried tomatoes and spinach. The recipe was very easy to follow and the ingredients were fresh. However we thought the finished product was too salty. Still I'd love to see something like this store in America!
