It is also the road to a campground for a nearby fishing lake (not blue lake). Many years ago I was lucky enough to work there for my inclusive boss, who is also now the current management. This employment was key in my development and maturity, I have since become a teacher at a school that promotes many of the same values I learned and loved at Blue Lake. I am certain Blue Lake is working to develop leaders at the same time ensuring safety for its campers. If you are looking for a community that loves the outdoors and enjoys having fun this is the place to work. It is also the place to send your child for camp. Once my children are old enough they will be attending blue lake.

I was honored to see camp grow, evolve and bring in new programs from junior outdoor youth leadership (JOYLS), to outdoor Youth leadership (OYLS). At camp I made lifelong friends that each year we would promise to meet back at camp (back when there was no internet to stay connected) the same people that are still in my life today. I remember being a camper and not wanting to leave camp, so I asked management, Yoda, if I could stay and help, which he happily said yes!! It was there that I truly felt like a bigger part of the BLC family. I went on to work as a counselor, gaining more skills of teaching, role modeling and enhancing ecofun programs. On days off I was welcomed to stay at the management's (Yoda) personal home as I lived too far away. Other Counselors became close friends, a family away from home. The Spirit of camp shined through the dedication, pride and resourcefulness to bring any child the experience of camp. It has been an honnor to continue to watch camp grow, evolve and bring the magic of camp Alive in children's eyes. I highly recommend blue Lake as a camp to send your child or a place to work.

We recently bought a used RV and used it for a trip from Edmonton to Seattle and back. This was one…read moreof the RV campgrounds that we stopped at on the way back to Alberta. The price was pretty reasonable and the grounds are very well taken care of. Many people have permanent sites here but they also have man sites available for people to book. There is a man made chlorinated pond near the middle of the park and a creek that circulates the water around the park so you can the sound of rambling creek from most sites. I believe you can also go swimming in the pond. The only issue we had with the pond was it was a bit difficult to navigate the park from our site to the washroom/shower building in the night especially since we weren't too familiar with the layout. A few accessible footbridges that cross the creek would be appreciated I think especially by those with mobility issues. Otherwise you may have a long walk to get your site. There is also a golf course attached to the park but we didn't have an opportunity to try it our or look at it. I heard that there was a putting green that park users could access for free though. The only drawbacks to the park is its proximity the the railroad tracks and the highway. They are both very close to the park. Close as on one side of the park so you have highway noise and train noises. If you are a light sleeper can't sleep with background noise then you may want to bring some ear plugs. We counted about 4 trains in one hour the night we were there. I am not sure how many more went by that night as the noise doesn't bother me much and I can sleep through about anything.

Our group of 11 had an amazing time. Great powder. The guides and food were excellent. We spent 2 nights and skied 2 days. Highly recommend if you are used to steep powder skiing. Bring extra snacks and booze.

Epic ski trip. We spent 3 days skiing with FWA. The guides were great. They added a fourth snow…read morecat, which we were the first to ride in. The area is huge and we skied 9 runs each on the first two days (~10,500 ft of vertical) and 11 runs on the last day because we had a fast group. The terrain isn't super steep but there is a lot of variety. Most areas have trees which in most cases are well spaced. It snowed about 18" two days before we got to Fernie and the guides found us fresh tracks everyday. No small feat as they run 3 or 4 cats everyday with 12 people each. The snow was great everywhere except for the very lowest elevations at the end of day 2 and 3. Each day had one or two "sporty" traverses or ski outs, but just about everyone was able to handle them. There was only one very short hike (maybe 50 meters). Be warned though, this is backcountry skiing in deep powder so I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who isn't very comfortable skiing anything inbounds at a west coast resort and who isn't in decent shape. You will be tired at the end of the day and there will be 11 other skiers/boarders who want to make the most of the day.
