Wonderful experience from start to finish! It was easy to schedule and Margarita answered all my questions to be prepared for my first wax. This review is for the eyelash service. I came in a while ago for a lash lift promotion they were running. It took 45 minutes and it feels really relaxing. The lash lift end product was not very noticeable and faded after a few days. They contacted me for a redo or another one of their services which was nice (I ended up getting a RapidLash bottle because the service didn't meet my expectations. I'm hoping the rapidlash will help me grow more natural lashes). I didn't want to do a redo because I'm done having my lashes undergo another chemical treatment (personal preference). I bumped up my review from 1 to 3 stars because I think the customer service is really nice with follow up. Unfortunately the end product was not up to par, however if you do go for a lash lift, they recommend asking for Margarita to do the lift. read more

I made an appointment online but had to cancel. I called days before and no answer, finally the day before she answered and I was able cancel. I waited several days (almost a month actually) and got no refund. When I called again after multiple tries she told me she did refund me my money (with a slight attitude). I wouldn't have been calling if I received my money not that type of person. She said she would look into it and well almost 2 months later still nothing. I'm sure the wax service is great but customer service not so much. read more

The ambiance is nice, front desk is friendly and the location was clean. However the service was not as pleasant. Kourtney worked very sloppy ...the only word to describe it. She was talking away and not at all focused on the actual waxing; never really looking at her work. She was friendly but hyper and waxed over where I specifically told her not to. The worst part, she left me with so much wax which made for an uncomfortable post-experience to say the least. P.s. I had to tweeze too many missed hairs once home. I came here because my regular location was booked. Been a fan of the two facials I've received here. The aesthetician was great. Not a fan of products being pushed on me or my routine criticised at the front desk when I'm getting ready to pay. I have clear acne-free skin that just gets a little bit dry because I grew up in humid weather and now live in a desert. I used to have terrible acne. I got here by getting rid of all the products and keeping my routine simple over the last 12 years - superfatted soaps with no perfumes or dyes, water, and coconut oil for moisture. I rarely wear makeup. Every 3-4 years, I get a facial or two to treat myself. If I like a place, I come back. So when someone who hasn't worked on me rolls their eyes at me when I tell them I just use soap and water, continues to dig for information, and then immediately tells me to quit a routine I've been doing for 12 years without knowing anything about me or my skin because they insist "that stuff will clog you up," it's my turn to roll my eyes and decide I'm not gonna come back. read more

Margarita was very kind and professional to work with as she did the procedure. However, she did push her products somewhat hard once it was time to pay and she pointed out that I was getting a good deal anyways, so why not? I had to be firm in turning them down basically. So, expect that as a possibility. I know it helps the establishment and she may make commission, but if you are not comfortable spending $90+ on retinol or $120 on a moisturizer that could be purchased for $15 online elsewhere (same thing, yes - despite claims otherwise), then that should be up to you. Or spas should just stop overcharging for these things altogether because that is WAY too high of a markup price for any cosmetic product that is made from commonly found ingredients. Especially since they do include additives, so it's not as if you are getting the pure ingredient either. As for the peel itself, it was described to me as a medium power one but I do not think she actually performed the one described on me since I went there with one thing purchased but then she suggested a different one for me, to which I saw very minimal peeling. So, what she actually put on me is unclear. It did not seem as strong as described. Very, very minimal flaking that only happened for two days. I had used a Groupon, so it is not unusual for establishments to skimp on their services when you are getting a discount. Which is unfortunate since a lot of people use Groupon to try a service out before they choose to commit to it for future purchases, so if anything when people buy from Groupon, it is a good opportunity to show off your quality in order to convince them to be a returning customer. The peel I received was not to the extent of what a medium strength peel would be at a licensed dermatologist, so if you are needing more than just the very top layer of your skin taken care of, then it would be best to seek out a dermatologist for those with deeper skin issues instead of going to a medspa or similar establishment that only offer these light facial type peels. read more

Well... I went in for a wax and don't get me wrong, Margarita is sweet, kind, and keeps you talking so you don't think much about the pain. In and out, no issue. Getting home and looking at the body parts she waxed... questionable but it may have just been a one time thing. I have multiple matches of hair she missed, and lots of hairs that could've been picked up by the wax and or tweezing. The wax here is divine and great for sensitive skin (go for the hypoallergenic!). But the best part of all? Margarita! No matter how stressed or crazy or worried I am, or if I'm having a bad day, she's unfailingly kind even when I'm at my worst. Even with the craziness of closing, repoening, etc. because of COIVD, Margarita is always on top of her game. She's running a business as a boss lady but still has the charisma to take care of clients, and build long-term relationships. If I could give zero stars I would. I was going on a 4-day weekend getaway. I had just been waxed about 3 1/2 weeks prior (somewhere else) so when I called Viva Brazil (downtown location) I explained to the man that answered the phone (strong accent) that I wasn't sure if my growth was long enough. I made sure to ask, before I wasted a trip, that if I were to stop by that same day, could one of the girls take a look and tell me if it was long enough or not before paying for service. He assured me that they would. Believing that they would be honest, I agreed to stop by later that day and have them take a look. When I arrived they had assigned me to TYLER, a younger gal. I explained to her that, before we got started, I wanted to know if my growth was long enough. She took a look and assured me that it would be okay. We got started and soon enough I could tell that things were not going smoothly. She kept reapplying the wax and ripping it off over and over and over again. I have never had this happen to me before. Then it dawned on me; she knew it was too short but told me it was fine anyway because she wanted to get paid. I'm not exaggerating when I say that she waxed several of the same areas 7-10 times. When I finally had enough I said to her calmly, "Honey, If it's not coming off after 10 times then it ain't gonna come off." Well, she didn't like that at all. She became defensive as if I were telling her how to do her job. She then replied, "It's because its growing in different directions." Total BS. I know my own bush (sorry for the expression) and I have been shaving and getting waxed forever. It does NOT grow in different directions. She was just making excuses because she knew that my growth was too damn short to wax. She wrapped up the session, said thank you and walked out. She wasn't fooling anyone, it was clear she was annoyed. I wasn't pleased with the service I received and wanted to just get out of there so I didn't even bother looking at her work. I just got dressed, paid (leaving a tip anyway, because that's the type of person I am) and went home. As I undressed to shower, I dropped my panties and felt a sharp pain. I had SO MUCH wax left on me that I had just given myself another mini waxing. The wax was stuck on my skin, my hair and my panties. WTF??! She didn't clean up one single bit. I inspected my panties and there were small chunks of wax stuck on the fabric. Then I looked in the mirror and was completely pissed. Tyler totally messed up my "do". Not only did I have small chunks of wax left on my "triangle" but the triangle itself was completely crooked and off center! There were so many hairs left behind that the wax was not able to pull off (front and back). There is absolutely NO WAY that a true professional and competent esthetician would do such horrible work. Tyler is either the WORLDS WORST ESTHETICIAN or she did this deliberately because she didn't like my comment. Well, Tyler, grow up and be a mature professional. If your client has a concern, comment or suggestion, then listen and take their concerns, feelings and/or comments into account and learn from them. What you did is nearly equivalent to spitting in someone's food. I've included two pictures: The first of my panties (odd, yes) that shows the clumps of wax that I ended up ripping off when I removed my panties. Goes to show how much wax was left on me. Just remember there was more wax left on me. The second is of a diagram-sort-of picture. I can't very well post an actual picture of myself "down there" so I created this to show how much wax was left on my hair and to show how crooked and off center Tyler's work was. I don't expect an apology of any kind from management. I've read other posts of complaints and every time Viva Brazil comments, it's always to argue the fact or to put the blame on the customer. Two stars for the decor and (what I hope) was a genuinely sweet esthetician. I went in for a walk-in Brazilian. Greeted by a somewhat snarky front desk gal that called me "honey" or "sweetie" even though I am not a young woman. Then was put in a room with no instruction, no towel on the bed (to indicate for me to undress) or anything. So I waited. Long story short. It was the worst Brazilian i have experienced. The wax was too hot, it hurt, it was dripping and falling everywhere, I had wax left on me, and the esthetician commented on in-growns - but did not try doing anything about them like other places i have gone to. Most off setting part - no final oil to make sure all the wax was off, etc. I HAD TO POKE MY HEAD OUT (while still undressed) to ask. Front desk gal to me to grab a baby wipe and use the dusty oil spray bottle on the cart. The paper wrap along the chair was also in pieces by the time i was done.... I will not be returning. They need management to go through the place with a fine tooth comb and reassess customer service and processes. Very unprofessional. read more

I received a call the next day, when I called back I spoke to a gentleman that was extremely rude and hung up on me twice. Of course I'm canceling after that type of customer service. Received confirmation of my canceled appt and no refund has been issued. SAVE yourself the time and money, find a different wax place. Well, I've gone here a couple of times for a Brazilian and it's been okay. Just okay. This time I thought I'd try my legs. I waited a while before going to make sure my hairs were long enough, and they were. When I arrived, Courtney pulled me back into the room and started on my full leg wax. It was a bit painful, I had never had my legs waxed before so that was to be expected. She told me my hairs were pulling out nicely. It was quick-she made friendly conversation and talked about the importance of exfoliating and even sold me on a couple sugar scrub products (which I have yet to use but they smell really nice so I'm excited to try them). I quickly got dressed without checking my legs for quality. I paid and tipped accordingly, but when I got home to shower and wash the wax off, I still had SO much hair on my legs. I went in for a FULL leg wax and the top of my legs seemed like they were not even touched. Below the knee feels and LOOKS like I haven't shaved for about 4 or 5 days. I really wanted nice smooth legs and I unfortunately did not get that. My legs are not smooth one bit. I am very disappointed in this leg wax and I'm really upset that I have to wait another month before trying this again. I probably will not be coming back to Viva Brazil.
