This place is amazing. We got butter chicken and chicken tikka masala spice level 3 with garlic naan and paneer naan. We got take out and everything was super fresh and warm. Pretty reasonable prices for high quality and big portions (one meal can easily be tuned into two). They had a wide variety of dishes with lots of vegetarian options. We made reservations for lunch on a Sunday but coming in, we definitely did not need them. There was not a lot of people there. And after having some wonderful food, that's surprised me! Service was great and very friendly. You could tell this place was clean and very well maintained. My husband and I had lunch with a friend. They have a pretty extensive menu but it's not as extensive as a lot of other Indian restaurants. I think they managed to condense it down for most people. I have the chicken tikka McGreb which is close to the masala like stuff but it's full of mushrooms which I just love! The Jasmine rice it came with was also delicious underneath it. It came with garlic naan as well which was super nice because other places we go to, you have to pay more for garlic naan. My husband had more of a fried rice dish that also came with something that has creamy lentils. I can't remember what it is called. But it was delicious! We also shared an appetizer of samosas which came with spicy onions, tamarind, and a delicious green sauce. We finished off lunch with a gulab jamun dessert. Wow- what a surprise from Viva India! We had heard good things from friends who had been. This location has been a number of restaurants over the years and we were pleased to find the most recent remodel has reduced the overall size of the restaurant. Much cozier, and a nice refresh. We were seated in a booth by the bar. The dishes we ordered were both delicious, and the portions are surprisingly generous - plenty of leftovers for next day lunch. I tried the Biryani and my friend had the Chicken Tikka Mughlai with a side of garlic naan. Not sure if we got 'lost' but the missing star is for some gaps in service. Despite sitting in a booth visible from the bar, once our food was delivered, nobody checked on us until we were finished. My water and beer were both empty for a long time. Hopefully this was a one time issue and I'll be able to update after my next visit - which will be soon to this delicious spot. They did a pretty busy carry out business while we were there. Stopped by for the lunch special. We got a chicken Tikka masala and vindaloo both level 2 spice with complementary garlic nann The portion were generous. Things were presented in sharable dishes. The Tikka masala was very creamy with generous amount of protein but definitely could have been more spicy, would get a 3/6. The vindaloo has a strong tomato vinegar taste and had potatoes and ample amounts of chicken thighs. Service was prompt and attentive and the restaurant was pretty clean. Overall this place is amazing for lunch as the portions were generous and the taste was on point. My new favorite among all Indian restaurants. read more

If you haven't been here, come now!! Might have found a new favorite restaurant in Cincy. I love Indian food (and by that I mean butter chicken) and this place has it. It is clean and open, a little dark if the lights are off. There weren't many people there when I went so service was extra speedy and attentive. I had to try their butter chicken and garlic naan of course. It was delicious and you can choose your spice on a level of 1-6. I'm a wimp when it comes to spice so I chose 2 and it was just enough for me to say it was a little spicy. The garlic naan was delicious, one serving is equal to two half circle pieces. My friend and I got the same thing so our rice was served in one bowl, it didn't look like a ton, but it was the perfect amount. Indian food tends to be a little bit pricier, but I can always count on getting at least two servings out of it. That was the case this time as well and I was very hungry at the restaurant. Seriously going to tell all my friends about this place and going to try to convince my visiting family to go with me again this weekend. I do need to branch out from only ever getting butter chicken and I'll trust this place to recommend something new. read more

What a great meal! We had veggie samosas, Chicken curry, lamb korma, and naan. It was ALL delicious! On top of the food, the staff were excellent. After our meal, I had to refutrn to the resturaunt for find my wallet...5 staff members assisted in diligently looking and moving furniture and giving us water and assistance (it turned out my wallet was found elsewhere, not at the resturaunt), but the kindness offered us at Viva India will not be forgotten. I went back to this restaurant with 10 friends and was even more impressed with the service and food!! They'd set the table with impeccable taste -- 3 plates for each, water glasses, menus, silverware -- the impression was of attentive elegance. The waitress was very personable with each of us, particularly with menu selections. When the food came, OMG, it was this parade of delectable pakoras, curries, kormas, tandoori specialties, naan, and house-made chutneys -- an amazing aromatic bounty of aromas and tastes. I love this place. It has become our go-to Indian Restaurant. It's local to us. Down on the corner of erie and Saybrook. (Yes that place where most restaurants go to die). Not anymore viva's business is running strong. It a perfect walk in east hyde park. Viva serves up fresh and delicious Indian. The restaurant is upgraded and very nice inside. Service was polite and welcoming although by the end of our meal there were so many people filling the restaurant and waiting for tables that it was harder to get our server's attention. The food was excellent and they have good wine at appropriate prices even though they do not yet have a printed wine list. I ordered lamb tikka masala, a delicious creamy sauce with plentiful and perfect chunks of lamb. My friends had Karahi with chicken, a spicy and flavorful dish with onions, tomato and bell pepper. Garlic naan was definitely tasty and I could have eaten a lot more of it. It's only naan but it was the best naan I've had. This is our new favorite local Indian restaurant, hands down. It was a casual spot with a laid back but clean vibe. We were so impressed by the personal and timely service and the food was steaming hot and delicious. The onion naan was stuffed with onions and the perfect consistency. We also ordered Batura which was fluffy and delicious too--we'd never had it. We enjoy Mulligatwany and theirs was really good--super flavorful and a good texture. We asked our waitress for dinner recommendations as we tend to get stuck in a rotation of Saag, chicken tikka masala or vindaloo. We had two new dishes: chicken tikka mughlai and karahai panir. We were not disappointed--creamy spicy goodness and a robust tomato panir dish. We will definitely be returning. They have outside dining too which will be great this fall!
