Hand made to order blue corn tortillas

Viva Zapata, Viva!! the food at this amazing restaurant! One of my top 3 places to eat in Holbox!!! The food is OH MY GOD Delicious! My son and brother ordered the skirt steak (arrachhera) the portion was huge and each they thought they might not finish it, but they did because it was grilled and flavored to perfection! For a smaller portion you can order the arrachera on skewers or tacos, which we will do next time. My son is a tortilla critic and is always in search for the best tortilla... he found it here at Zapatas! Hand made blue corn tortillas made to order, soft, smooth and full of flavor! The seared octopus is a must have and the octopus ceviche did not disappoint! My only regret is not having dined here more than once on my trip!!

Visited this restaurant while visiting Isla Holbox during my birthday week in October. The restaurant is a cute little outdoor/indoor space nestled on the corner of the Main Street of Isla. I loved the "jungle" feel that the restaurant gave which included with swings as seat at the bar and lots of greenery around and overhead. The murals on the walls were colorful and unique. AND what's even more fantastic is that the Wi-Fi here is great! So a nice place to stop to cool off with a drink and surf the web outside of your hotel. The staff was amazing and so was the staff! The chips and salsa were fresh and delicious. The quest was actually real cheese not that's artificial stuff. The whole grilled fish was divine! When I'm Isla Holbox again I'll definitely be back!

Ceviche mixto. It was fresh and tasty. Just average to poor service and pricing premium.

Average, service lacking and slow. Food was good but pricy for the quantity and quality. Food did not come out at same time and part of the order was missed. Obviously paying for the central location by the square. It wasn't bad, just could be better...

One of our favorite restaurants in Holbox. We dined here several times. We had grilled Lobster and shrimp ceviche, both were delicious. Homemade tortillas were yummy. Nice bar and ambiance. Servers did not speak fluent English.

This spot was our first night here. Beautiful garden patio near the grill to watch our food being prepped and coming to our faces. We were traveling all morning and day and didn't get to have our first meal outside of coffee and oh my god was this the best. We wanted seafood, guacamole, and tequilas and we got everything we wanted and more. The margaritas and frozen margaritas are delicious too. My first vacation since the pandemic started and coming to this island was a god send. It is quiet empty and peaceful and the seafood and ambience is exquisite

What fun!! We just finished a morning at playa coco and we're ready to eat! And getting refreshing drinks. Viva Zapata did not disappoint and best of all they accepted visa. We got the watermelon mojito ( mojito de sandía ). It was refreshing for a hot day as well as amazing alcohol and taste. My husband got the Mexican mula ( like Moscow mule but I think Mexican has tequila or mezcal). It was the best drink I had on the island!! So smooth so refreshing so darn good!! We ordered the guacamole, it was good by normal standards but once your in Mexico the bar goes up lol so not the best but very good. The lobster ceviche was excellent. Highly recommend. We got the small portion. And we shared the garlic shrimp (camarón al ajo). It was good especially the rice!! I really wanted to have the grilled lobster but they only serve that for dinner. I guess next time we visit! Which we are sure to come back. Love the spunk of this place and the drinks and food just put it over the top!

Grilled seafood - for two people.

The place decor is very appealing and the ambiance pretty pleasing but the flies were all over our food and I can say, we went to plenty of places some cheaper even, and they didn't had the same problem. The service was very slow and the staff was distracted having conversations between them and forgetting us customers. The food was great. We had the grilled seafood for two: one lobster tail already cut for convenience, octopus, plenty of shrimp, two big stone crab legs, a pretty big fish opened in half, a few clams and a small plate of ceviche. More than plenty, very well served and delicious but it took too long! I was already full with the guacamole, the grilled onions and the tortilla chips.

Enjoying shrimp tacos, local beer, and guacamole at the bar.

It's pretty…read moresimple -- the menu is different everyday, with a few entree options that come with rice and fruit. We got a truly gigantic lobster tail, and a seabass filet. The seabass was great, but the lobster was incredible, and unlike anything we'd be able to access in New York. Also a nice date night-type setting, on top of the great food.

Good spot for dinner in Holbox. Nice atmosphere and friendly to families and couples. The night we were there, the menu choices included white fish (like sea bass) with poblano chilies, a shrimp with chipotle butter, a mixed seafood dish and a steak entree. Nothing was truly spicy. Later, seeing the small open kitchen, we were surprised at all they produced there with one person cooking. When on Holbox, go for the seafood. (It's a fishing village. You can't go wrong.) The chef came to each table to take orders after his business partner greeted us and shared initial details about the set menu. We tried to buy time to ponder the menu, but the chef let us know we had to order immediately. We didn't want to offend the chef and miss a chance at dinner so we obliged, but maybe a little less pressure would have worked better with our vacation pace. Still a nice dinner experience on the island.
