She does a great job of attaching without damaging lashes and is very careful to ensure my lashes are to my liking. Mieko san has the patience of a saint! I've always disliked my eyelashes. They're flat, and don't curl. I've tried masacra to either have it come off or my lashes look exactly the same. I'd been wanting to try eyelash extentions for a long time, but I had no idea what it entailed or what it cost. When I called to make an appointment, the call went to voice mail. Meiko san called me back later in the day and told me she had an appoinment available for about two weeks later -- there's a reason why there's a waiting list for her! The day of the appointment, Meiko san sent me a text confirming the appointment. I slept in late, so I was late replying to her and I apologized. She was incredibly nice and said it was ok. I arrived at 1:30pm. Meiko san is this sweet, kind, petite person. She had me fill out a form with questions (similar to a flu shot form) to determine if I was a good candidate. My answers met her expectations, and she assignmed me a C length and 65pp for me, seeing as it was my first time. She explains everything and breaks down the pricing/process, so nothing is a surprise. She has you lie down so she can begin the process. The process is SURREAL. I assumed I would just shut my eyes. Nope -- and this is the process for eyelash extentions anywhere. Your botton eyelids are taped down and one cannot move/talk during the process. I suffer from anxiety and the process started making me antsy. Mieko san said that is normal for a first timer. I was beyond antsy and I kept squirming. Mieko san was incredibly nice and understanding and was chatting with me about her family and the business even though techincally I wasn't supposed to be talking. I know she did it to keep me relaxed and it helped. When she finished, my eyes had a surreal sensation to them but she said it is totally normal. I can't imagine going to another salon and having the tech get mad/ be impatient/annoyed. I'm sorry for being so difficult! She does INCREDIBLE work. My eyelashes look like something out of Hollywood. By the end of the session, Mieko san and I were talking about tv shows and cooking. She really helped ease my nerves. She was also so helpful with my questions/neurosis -- I was texting her throughout the day with my "newbie to eyelash extention" questions and she replied quickly and was just such a sweetheart. I really liked the lashes the lash technician put on me! It was the best-looking set of extensions I've had put on and I've tried two other places. However, they lasted me a whopping 10 days, and that's with them looking very sparse! Which left me sad, because I loved the look of them, and for $110--i expect them to last longer than that. I took care of them and didn't use any mascara (I did use eyeliner but she ok'ed that). However, service was impeccable, they didn't hurt, and the technician was very gentle and knowledgeable! I hunted high and low and even made appts in other places and ended up cancelling because I wasn't sure. I found this place because of a friend who told me she saw it on yelp but could never get an appt. I went on a whim and called and was lucky enough to get an appt fairly soon. She is a one woman band and I loved that. Super clean and nice small salon. Her name is Meiko and she's the sweetest, nicest, most patient lady ever. She does a small consultation before to get your expectations, desires and concerns. She goes over the every little detail from the type of look you want to the type of curl and the type of lash, VERY detailed. I was so happy because I'm a bit crazy about the small things. I wanted the biggest impact which was the glamour option (I think that's what it's called) and got the 100pc option. I was actually hoping for a 140pc option but 100 was the highest and a good thing it was. Since it was my first time Meiko suggested that I go small even though the 100 piece was her highest option, it was still perfect for me for the first time. It was extremely natural looking especially without makeup. I think a lot of times when you see girls with no makeup on and these gigantic tarantula looking lashes it just looks ridiculous. But with the 100pc option I looked flawless with AND without makeup. Absolutely GORGEOUS. I'd wash my face at night and look at myself in the mirror and smile. When I do wash my face I'm very careful and go around my eyes. Never getting them wet. I always use a makeup wipe first and then my cleanser and use a wash cloth for precision. I haven't put any mascara on it because I want them to last and not get dirty or clumpy. Maybe later on once I'm use to wearing and cleaning them I will, but for now I'm starting slow. They make a huge difference to me and I feel gorgeous with them! I go to bed and look like an angel in bed and in the morning . They also cut my makeup routine in the mornings in HALF. LOOOOOVE THEM! I've been going here for over a year now, and every time I go the lashes Meiko puts in surpass my expectations! I've seen tons of lash extension "horror stories" from friends - cheap, overly shiny-looking lashes, clumpy clusters that just look awful, and even eye infections. I have very sensitive eyes (and I also wear contacts and have seasonal allergies) and I was so wanting to try extensions but so hesitant. I have these Asian hooded eyes with short, sparse eyelashes. I wanted lashes that looks natural, wispy, not too heavy but still noticeable enough, and will give my eyes a little bit of a lift at the outer corners. This is my first time getting extensions so I was a little nervous. Mieko was so sweet during the consultation. She listened to my concerns and between the two of us came up with a plan. I had a combination of C lashes ranging from 8-11 and got the thick-65 pc each eye. I'm not sure what style mine was....in between a cat and a doll eye? Anyway, I love my lashes so much! Turned out better than I expected. And the experience was great too. I barely felt anything while she was putting it on that i was dozing on and off! The whole process took about an hour. Hopefully the lashes will last long. But I would definitely go back for retouch. I'm thinking maybe next time I will try the "Gorgeous" which is the 80 pcs/eye. read more

I would give this salon 10 stars if I could! I have gone to at least 5 other 5-star rated salons (in Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn) and never ever have I gotten the lash quality that I get with Mieko. I have gone through breakups and cried for days with my lashes looking so perfect and people complimenting my lashes completely overlooking the fact that I had been crying so much! It's hard to tell quality difference at first but over time you learn the actual differences in how long they last/how good they actually look. The quality of her products are higher than most places. I think places with high volume do not invest in quality products in the same way Mieko does. An absolute extra bonus (and for some maybe more important than quality) is that the owner is so sweet and accommodating and VERY skilled. There is no comparison. She is super clean, and you never have to worry about her doing less lashes than you pay for. She is dedicated and professional. read more

I can't imagine going anywhere else after coming here and having such a wonderful experience. The place is so clean and relaxing with low soft music in the background. It was hard not to fall asleep. The owner is very thorough and goes through all your options with you. She doesn't push and she isn't trying to just get your money and move you along. She cares about her customers and gets to know them. My eyelashes were short from chemo so I was hoping this would not only make me feel better but help my lashes grow. I did feel great while I had the lashes on but it didn't make them grow and my lashes actually were shorter after they all came off which could very well be because of the chemo and other meds have made my lashes weak so I didn't go back and have them redone but if I was going to have them done again I wouldn't go anywhere else but here. I went during the afternoon, had a little trouble finding the place its in a little cute ally,(never thought I would say cute ally) lol. but it has a few other stores in that hide away. the only thing is, all of the stores share the restroom. Other then that she is very friendly and she gives you a questionnaire regarding allergies and she explains everything to you very well. This is by far the best eyelash salon I've ever been to, and I've been to at least 4 others. I've struggled with eyelash pulling my entire life, and have always been self conscious about having short stubby lashes. At another salon i went to i was literally shamed and encouraged not to get extensions due to the gaps in my lashes, which was humiliating. I've had only negative experiences regarding eyelash extensions until i came here. First of all, the woman who does the extensions owns and works the place by herself and she does an amazing job. She is so kind and polite, and you can tell she takes her clients satisfaction extremely seriously. My first appointment she spent 15 minutes showing me the different lengths and styles and helped me pick ones that worked for me. They came out SO GOOD. Like they looked absolutely amazing and so natural. This was the first time in a very long time that i felt compelled to not pull on my eyelashes because of how good they looked and not wanting to ruin them. Even if i accidentally pull a few out she always fixes them like they're a fresh set when i come back, and her prices are also extremely reasonable.
