2/5 I recently had a Vivint salesperson named Diego come to my home to discuss their security system. Diego was polite, professional, and respectful throughout the entire conversation. He took the time to explain the system and answer my questions. Unfortunately, my experience took a turn when Diego called his field manager to provide additional information about a promotion. I explained that while I was interested in learning more, I was not comfortable making an immediate decision, financing a new system, or providing my Social Security number on the spot. I simply wanted time to think about it. While I was still considering the information, I overheard the field manager tell Diego something along the lines of, "Don't waste your pass on her. Don't waste your time on her. Go find somebody else." As a potential customer, I found that comment rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. Customers should be allowed to ask questions and think about a major financial decision without being made to feel like they are wasting someone's time. I want to be clear that Diego was professional and courteous. My issue is with the field manager's conduct. Had the conversation remained respectful, I may have continued considering Vivint. Instead, the manager's comments left a negative impression and ultimately cost them a potential customer. I hope Vivint addresses this type of behavior and remembers that respect and professionalism go a long way. read more

Poor Business practices. This is an alarm company that cannot guarantee its services or its equipment. These salespeople practice unethical means to get contracts signed and never follow up as said. You can never get customer support long wait times and if you do it is over sea's when you request to speak with someone in the US it doesn't happen though Vivint is based out of Utah. Have complaints about their business practices, especially when it deals with my safety. They are an alarm service you cannot reach when the equipment is not working very reassuring to me. You buy an alarm to know your house and family are safe, well think again. Not with the Vivant alarm system or its support team working . I have spent over six hours on the phone not getting anything done. No one could answer a question to get me to help most of my conversation was with the Philippines, yet a Utah-based company how American. This company's is a fraud! Don't trust anything they say. Sales rep promised up a great deal..... Free Equipment if we sign up for a 5-year service plan. Free smart hub, doorbell cam, 2 outdoor cams, electronic deadbolt, window and door sensors, smoke detector, programable thermostat, interior motion sensors. The works. All for the low low price of $69.95 a month. What he did, was sign us up to purchase over 5 years all this equipment at a cost of more than $3,500 plus the vivint monitoring fee. They only have a 3 day cancellation policy. The night of purchase they came at 11pm and installed smart hub, two door sensors, and the lock. Said they'd call back in two to three days to install the rest. Never heard from them again. A week went by and called the company to complain and try to cancel service. I missed the window and therefore can't. I'm on the hook for the full 5 year service plan. Cost to for early termination is half of what's still due for the full 5 years. When I found out I was paying for equipment, wanted to return the items from the great bundle that I didn't need and or hadn't yet received. Was told they have a no return policy. Ok. Asked them to at least reduce amount owed for equipment I hadn't received. They said no, couldn't do that either, but they'd be happy to schedule a tech to come eventually to put those pieces in. Fought with them for 3 months. Final resolution: Can't get out of 5 year contract, have to pay for equipment they installed 1st night. So now paying 5 years for a service we won't be using. They don't care their sales guy lied. They don't care their tech put six holes in my wall trying to put up their hub panel. They simple don't care. read more

Used Vivent for many years however, after canceling due to having sold the house we continued to be billed for services. I was never told that the cancelation had to be in writing. From a review website it reads: To our understanding, when you go the non-contract route with Vivint, you can cancel at any time, with no fees or penalties. The cancellation requires 30 days to take effect, so you'll likely have one final bill to pay after you've formally canceled. But altogether, it seems like a relatively painless process. read more

Let me preface by saying that there should be a negative star rating for situations just like this one. That being said, let's dig in, shall we... Alright, so here I am in the throws of enjoying the fact that we just bought a brand new home and starting a family and my immediate thought is, "I need a home security system" Our utilities concierge set us up with a great deal on Vivint Home Security, the Highest rated Home Security system out there! I'm super stoked, our install gets scheduled and I'm counting down. We get a call the night before the install that our tech has overbooked himself and cannot complete the install. I'm not happy, but I'm relatively gracious and say that for a small discount we will take a reschedule. The install gets rescheduled for the following wednesday and lo and behold, they tell us the rescheduled appointment was never supposed to be on the books in the first place and the soonest they can give us is three weeks out. I'm livid, I'm beyond upset at this point. I call customer service and Ashleigh tells me that the reason we were bumped is because the tech that was supposed to do our install cancelled our job to take an install that would make him more money. I lost my s**t. Cancelled on the spot and vowed never to look their way again and I will tell anyone and everyone I know that Vivint is not worth the hassle or the money and shouldn't be given a second thought. Would give this 0 stars if I could. Door to door salesman was rude and forceful. I answered the door and talked to the salesman who had a mask but wasn't even covering his face with it. I asked multiple times if he could come back later as I was in the middle of eating dinner but he just kept going on with his pitch, claiming he had knocked on the door several times before and it would only take a short time. As he continued on after ignoring me he proceeded to come closer and as I was trying to distance myself he entered my home. I eventually got him to reschedule to later in the day and he left. This is extremely unprofessional behavior and made me very uncomfortable. I will never be purchasing anything from this company. read more

Some pros and cons. I've been a user for over a year. Purchased a vacant property and they came out the day I took possession. That was great! The installer called me over phone and via FaceTime walked me thru everything. Awesome! The system has worked almost the entire time... except. They don't use good batteries so you will find yourself replacing them a few months after. To compare I have batteries in door locks in 2 other properties that have lasted more than a year each and are used daily. Fail! When the batteries did show as low in the door lock I called them to see if I could pay a tech to replace batteries. No they will not. Ultimately I had to hire a handyman just to replace batteries. Fail! I had cameras installed but they only work with wifi- that took awhile for place to get fixed up enough, and now that I have wifi I have called more than 3 times and interacted over the chat option 2 times and have not been able to connect to be able to use my cameras. Fail!! They should have techs available to come help you just like any other security company would, but they don't. Your better off doing simplisafe if you can install yourself, if not hire a pro instead or any alarm company. The cost of 1 door lock, 1 camera, 1 doorbell camera and 2 sensors inside the home came to ....... $2200 add in monitoring and install and the total is $3088. Yes you heard that right. Over 3 grand for about $400 worth of equipment installed. None of the equipment is theirs either, they just brand their name over the top of existing software. The app is very easy to use. That's a plus! So is this overall bad? Not really- it does have a lot of cons, but if you are tech savvy, want to spend 3 grand for a system that works and have it installed pretty quick and are home enough to change your batteries and don't need customer service then it's good. But if you're needing a little more assistance from your security company, need them to check stuff in person or send a technician to show you how things work- this company ain't it. Terrible company. Have had nothing but problems since the first day of installation. Can't get a hold of anyone on the phone for service and if you do they still can't resolve the issue after two hours on the phone. As far as I'm concerned they can come and get their equipment! read more

I wish I had known all this before I signed the contract. I too have had nothing but problems. Thermostat and panel offline which means no cameras or doorbell. Wait time on phone is usually at least a half hour due to high call volumes. When you do get it fixed, it is only good for 24 to 48 hours and then the same thing happens. I tried to leave my house yesterday, was in my truck backing out of my driveway when the alarm went off. That happened twice. Took me at least 15 minutes to fix and get away. My tech(installer) gave me his phone number and told me to contact him instead of waiting on the phone. I tried to contact him on 07-13, no response. I finally fixed the issue my self by calling and getting phone support. 2 days later same thing happened, I called the tech, 2 days later he responded and asked me when he could come over. I told him the next day . HE said he was to busy and he would come on Tuesday, fine, Got a text on Tuesday saying he would come on Wednesday, no show. He finally came on Thursday but my power was out so he said he would come back on Friday. He left but came back to my door and asked for paper towels, muttering something about oil. I gave him paper towels and when I closed the front door , I saw that he was parked in my driveway with his hood up wiping his engine. I didn't really know what he was doing but the next day there was a big oil spill in my driveway where his car was parked. When he did not show up on Friday, I texted him and asked him if he was still coming and to bring something to clean the oil spill. He then said he was not responsible for the oil since he was only cleaning the top of his engine. DUH! If oil is coming out of your engine where is it going to drip. ON THE GROUND. Then he told me he was not coming, someone else would because he was in Lansing. WELL, THANKS FOR LETTING ME KNOW! By this time I am really frustrated so I call. I was on the phone for an hour. They said the problem was that I had never had a repair tech come to my house only the install tech. The soonest they could get one there is in 3 more days. They said they would have the tech's supervisor call me about the oil spill. That didn't happen either. I really have no hope that it will ever be resolved. I am a 69 year old single woman, living on social security. I only wish something could be done to help me and all of the other people who are being taken advantage of. P.S. The tech who was coming to my house always told me that it was not his fault and that Vivint knew there were system glitches but they didn't care. The security system is ok. The outdoor camera won't stay online despite a good connection. The company lied to us about our payment and how payments work. I don't recommend this company at all. Now I'm over paying for equipment that barely works. Go elsewhere. read more

Not commenting on the service because I didn't purchase it after the door to door salesperson was extremely rude. I told him I wasn't interested but he kept on trying. When I told him more firmly that I wasn't interested and no longer wanted to talk about why, he laughed at me and rolled his eyes. If a company comes to my home and tries to sell me something, I would prefer they listen when I say no and I prefer they do it respectfully. Really rubbed me the wrong way. read more

This is a horrible company!! They knocked on my mother's door (she was in her 80s and home alone), then they pressured her into buying the service. The "service" is non impressive and covers almost nothing (2 doors). The monthly charge is as large as a normal security which covers the security of an entire house (Windows, doors, motion sensors). When I moved my mother out of her house, they would not let us discontinue service without a magic passcode for which they have no prompts or hints. My mother could not remember the code as she is 86 and suffering with memory loss. Although we are moving, they will continue to charge us for the service until they send us a passcode by mail forwarding. They even refused to credit us for the unused days between the time we move and the time we get the code, which will be 10 days to two weeks. The customer service people are very cold and not interested in helping at all. I would not recommend them to anyone ever read more
