My experience was not good. I was trying to get a will written, but not much happened and they stopped responding to my calls and emails.

I am thoroughly disgusted with Attorney Chi Nguyen's lack of professionalism and communication…read more I found her through Yelp in July 2025 with glowing reviews. After a July 4th consultation, I hired her to handle my parenting plan matter (not my protection order, though she gave advice on that too). What followed was one of the worst professional experiences I've ever had. Here are the main issues: Never in court - She never once appeared in person, only via Zoom. We paid her the same as anyone else, yet she didn't show up physically. Unprofessional appearance - On Zoom, she dressed in casual T-shirts, not courtroom-appropriate attire. Paralegal overseas - The paralegal assigned to our case (Bernard) was working permanently out of the country. This made direct communication about our case nearly impossible. Bad legal advice & dishonesty - She advised my child to drop a protection order to "help" with a 50/50 parenting plan, then denied ever giving that advice in court. This damaged our case. Unprepared in court - Judges were visibly frustrated with her lack of preparation and awareness of required next steps. Communication failures - She ignored the client portal (where we receive notifications) and instead sent critical updates by regular email, which caused us to miss deadlines and hearings. Documents were submitted incorrectly and late, resulting in continuances, sanctions, and extra costs we had to pay ($700). Recent failure - For a GAL hearing, financial documents we sent in late August were submitted at the last minute. She failed to consult us on which GAL we preferred, leaving us blindsided in court. We left court feeling defeated every single time. Yesterday's hearing was the final straw--we fired her immediately. Hiring an attorney is stressful enough; you need someone professional, prepared, and communicative. Chi Nguyen was none of these. Do not hire her. I only gave 1 star because Yelp wouldn't let me submit my review without doing it.

I first went to Chi because she was referred to by a friend. However, my experience with her was…read morenot great at all. I contacted her around September to handle my case, and from time to time I asked her for updates in which she gave me very basic information. One day the DOL sends me a notice that my drivers license has been suspended because of failure to notice the court of my options. Mind you, this is something that is completely done by the lawyer. I message Chi, and she started to blame the court about how ridiculous they were, but in reality she should've kept status on my case. It's clear Chi treats each case as a $$ bag and doesn't care to check up on the status of her clients cases. As a result, this lead my insurance going up because Chi was unable to keep up with my case. Why would I go to a lawyer just to have my insurance go up....... and having to deal with that.??? Although she helped me with my ticket It's clear she doesn't value her customers and her replies are just straight up unprofessional at times. I wouldn't recommend her and steer away, there are other lawyers. A

I have…read morecontacted Jason on two occasions about two separate issues, and both times he responded with a thorough and thoughtful assessment of my issue and potential next steps. In both instances, I was dealing with unreasonably punitive medical companies and frustrated by how much the cards seemed stacked against me. I came away from my interactions with Jason empowered by the options he made me aware of. Jason clearly cares about people and about ensuring they aren't taken advantage of by faceless companies. He is the voice of reason, and I highly recommend him to anyone who ends up in the unreasonable world of collections (or any unreasonable world for that matter). This is the guy you want in your corner. Thank you, Jason! p.s. I second what other reviewers have said about Jason being professional, caring, compassionate, awesome, an activist, and life coach. Also the reviewer who said he restored her faith in humanity. These superlatives are well-earned, he is indeed that good.

I feel he also came off demeaning and made me feel stupid and embarrassed. I was not looking for free legal help, I was looking for clarification and if my case was under the scope of his practice. I was not upset that he couldn't take my case. I work in the legal field and understand how the process works. I learned additional information and asked Jason if that was under his scope of practice, and was not looking for additional legal advice or any advice, just asking if he could take on my case. Again, my issue is not that he couldn't take on my case, my issue is that I felt he came off demeaning and how I was treated. I will not be reaching out again for any reason.

Neal is horrendous at responding, horrible at communicating and works at his own pace. He also lies. Blatant lies were told to by Neal saying that he sent us information/updates and nothing actually came through our email. I asked for these emails to be forwarded to me so that I can see that he sent them in a timely manor, they were quickly created and obviously created when I asked for them. He could never prove he sent emails that he stated that he did. Our claims were eventually denied by the companies that caused damage to our property. Neal dropped us as clients immediately after without cause. The reason given was "for various reasons" with no explanation. He was a large talk about taking things to trial when in fact he is just looking for an easy dollar and wouldn't take our case to court like he promised. He wasted our time when we could have been working with a real lawyer that supports their clients and believes in them.

I was recommended to Neal Bonrud 4 weeks ago by a tax attorney's recommendation, so, heeding his…read moreadvice, I reached out to Neal. Mr. Bonrud whom was originally attentive, prompt and what seemed to be, concerned. I explained my issue with my commercial space landlord and he immediately got on my case. By 9:00 a.m. sharp, I had an email from Neal with a Cease & Desist letter that was fantastically written, assertive and grabbed the landlord's attention because she stopped harassing us for a few weeks. However, when I responded to his email, I asked 2 questions: 1. "Check or Card" for payment? 2. What should I do if she still tries to wrongfully evict us/ change the locks/ touch our personal belongings? I got a response ONLY to how he wanted payment. I didn't think anything of it, but sent a second email later on in the day asking the question again, and still, no response. A week later I attempted to reach out again for fear that the landlord would not stop harassing us. To which, she continued. So I decided to call multiple times trying to figure out if Neal was on vacation (though I hadn't received an auto-responder), nor did his voicemail state that he was out of the office for an extended period of time. Each time I called, I would ask, "Is Neal on vacation? Can you please tell me?", to which they rudely cut me off mid-sentence and transferred me. I left 2 voicemails, the first sounding slightly desperate because our landlord has openly told us she is not afraid of US/ WA lawyers and judges. The 2nd voicemail I sounded upset, by this time having reached out 7 times in a 2-3 week span. If he did not wish to work with us, could not help us further, he could have just stated in the first email after I asked by responding, "I"m sorry, I can not assist you further.". However, he chose not to respond at all. It has now been 3.5 weeks since we last heard from him and I am tired of having to beg an attorney to call me back. I'm extremely sad in the recommendation we were given. And last but not least, I am gravely disappointed by Mr. Bonrud's complete lack of professionalism and communication. He has honestly wasted my time and my money when I could have just found another attorney that showed interested, empathy, and true concern for my situation. I may be young, but I have managed to uphold a pretty successful small business. If I treated my clients the same way I have been treated, I would not be in business anymore. With so many options out there, one might think that a client, though only offering a few hours of work, may return with a larger case = more money; and those clients would be pleased, referring more clients = even more money. I've been asked about the attorney that wrote our C&D letter, and I also make sure to add to fellow business owners about the apathy and insensitivity to the urgency of my situation, as it has thoroughly impacted my business; because I can't offer services if I'm attempting to get in contact with the person I hired to safeguard me and my business, 4 or 5 times. I wish I had something more positive to say, but I did not have a positive experience; and when I reached out to attorney that referred me, I got the impression that neither of them cared. Which ultimately was a giant disappointment. However, had I not had a horrible experience with Mr. Bonrud, I would not have found my new attorney, who understands the situation fully, responds in a timely manner, and does not ignore my questions. I'm sorry Mr. Bonrud that my small case was not important to you; thank you for making me feel unimportant.

Then leaving messages for 2-3 weeks before we received the courtesy of a call back. Nothing accomplished, no letters sent. This happened probably 6 or 7 times. Then we were sued because of not cooperating. We would have been better off without any representation. Mr. Smiths negligence caused us to be sued and I have the documentation. When he found out the value of the asset we were selling, he tried to broker the sale when we already had the buyer. Then he said, "Well, looks like there will be enough money for everyone." PS Couldn't return calls because he was out of town to attended 6 funerals. Couldn't return call because flight was cancelled due to mechanical. Guess he was busy fixing it.

Even if you live in Seattle proper, please trust me and take the short drive to consult with his firm. Once you compare his fees, amazing staff and case results to the bigger Seattle firms you might have initially intended to work with, I am POSITIVE you will change your mind. A family friend of ours (who is also a lawyer), was the person who originally referred me to this amazing firm. A list of the reasons you want to go to David Smith Law Firm rather than anyone else if you live in the Seattle/Tacoma area. -The minute you walk into his office, you feel instantly comfortable. No need to be nervous, skeptical or embarrassed explaining your legal problem and needs. Everyone in the office is really adept at making you feel comfortable and helping the process move smoothly and effectively; -Unlike most law firms, that make you feel like you are selling them on you and your case, everyone at David Smith Law Firm is really nice and customer service friendly to the extreme; They are straightforward and up front about everything and greet and treat you with respect, care and consideration. -These are top level lawyers who regularly attain optimal results and outperform expectations; -Ridiculously- affordable pricing structure; I have never had another lawyer provide me with a lower flat fee in my 20 plus years of having to retain legal advice and counsel. I dare you to find another firm who will do more better work for less money. It doesn't exist!! There are never hidden fees or surprises even when the situation requires more work or follow up. -State of the Art Microsoft operating software and legal tools reduce the amount of work and time you have to spend filling out endless forms and drafting lists and materials. I have had some really horrible prior experiences with lawyers of all types. The David Smith Law firm really restored my optimism, and reversed my preconceptions and negative biases about having to deal with legal matters.
