After…read moreI posted my original review on Google earlier today, I received rude, insulting, and shaming messages from the owner Oksana on Instagram, which she since has "unsent" from the Instagram chat. Rather than trying to work with me to resolve the situation, she chose the path of unprofessionalism and shaming. This included Oksana sending a message and the screenshot of my Google review in a group chat with the other students that were in the beginners classes with me. Screenshots on this review include: Part of messages where Oksana refuses to honor the terms of the Groupon I had already purchased (yesterday); Her private messages to me shaming me (today); the terms of the Groupon. Oksana was at the studio at least one of the times I took classes and did not introduce herself to the students. The bathroom was out of toilet paper, out of soap, dirty, and really unkept (pieces of wood in the corners, no door/curtain on the AC unit closet, mop bucket right next to the toilet). I should have seen these as red flags, but I really enjoyed Marina's classes so I expected to continue being a client at the studio. This is the hardest review I have ever had to leave, as I really enjoyed Marina's classes. However, the owner of a business should never treat anyone this way. I hope this review can help avoid others being treated this way. For further clarity, Oksana refused to honor the terms as stated in the Groupon I had paid for. I was not asking for anything except to be given what I had purchased. Screenshot of the listing included in this review was also sent from me to Oksana when we were messaging, and she still refused to honor it. The Groupon I purchased stated that 1 person could purchase it up to 4 times in a 365 day period. There was nothing anywhere (including at the studio) that indicated otherwise. Not honoring the Groupon as I purchased it is unfair to the client and is not proper business practice. Forcing me to choose between getting a refund or giving it to someone else for their use is poor customer service. Original review left on Google- 3 stars (9/23/21): Took beginners classes with Marina: 5/5 stars. Marina was great. She demonstrated routines, gave individualized feedback, tailored to her students, & was encouraging but not pushy. Marina did not make the experience uncomfortable or awkward. Customer service by owner: Poor. I had purchased a second Groupon and recommended for my family to also purchase and go with me. The owner refused to honor the terms that were clearly listed on the Groupon I purchased. I was not asking for any special treatment or for anything that wasn't clearly listed on the Groupon I had paid for. The owner blamed it on Groupon for changing the listing without permission, but refused to make a one-time exception based on the terms of the Groupon I had already purchased. She basically offered me an ultimatum of requesting a refund from Groupon or having a family member use my Groupon. I respect, understand, and support small and local businesses. However, it is unfair to treat the client as if they are in the wrong for something that is beyond their control... Especially when they are supporting and recommending your small business.

I had signed up for classes through an online deal while I wasn't travelling and attended very regularly for about two months. The studio was relatively small in size, conveniently located, clean and comfortable (I heard they were relocating, I have not been to the new location). I'm not new to dance, and chose to attend 3-5 nights a week mainly for Salsa and Bachata (I even paid for 2 private lessons and ended up only using 1, but it was such a good lesson!). I also attended a class or two in Rumba, Latin Hustle and Argentinian Tango. At any rate, as for the studio itself, what I can say is that Elite's true strength is in its teachers... they quickly assess what you can do and guide you from there. They pay attention to detail, even give feedback during the lesson to participants so that bad habits are not practiced or repeated. All of these experiences were what was severely lacking at my previous long-attended dance studio. Most other students/dancers were friendly and supportive. On the negative side, communication from the teachers wasn't always good, and there are "cliques" - unavoidable in many settings - but very noticeable to me as a newcomer, and having been to other studios previously. Another negative was that I arrived ready to dance on 2 separate occasions only to find out that the class that was posted for that time slot was cancelled. It also didn't sit well that in the next class I attended, others (in the clique) spoke about how they had heard about the cancellations through texts from one another. Annoying & disappointing as a new student to say the least (note: neither of these negatives caused me to discontinue going there... I just resumed travelling). Pros: - conveniently located - clean, well maintained - fair selection of dance classes and class times - pricing is reasonable - knowledgeable, experienced teachers CONS: - communication with ALL students regarding cancellations - could use more "group blending"... staff needs to avoid feeding into clique culture

This small studio packs a punch. From its vibe to its classes to even the people that work there, I have nothing but positive things to say about this studio. They even have an app that you can download to book classes or book the studio for rentals. By using this app, you can save $$$. I know, that's music to my ears too! For classes, it's $13 if you book beforehand and $18 at the door. Classes also have limited space so booking beforehand is a win-win! They also offer a day pass for $25, so when there's 3 classes in one day, this deal is unbeatable! Okay, now that I'm done raving about the app and their deals, let me talk about THE CLASSES. I've taken one class and sat in for another and the aura this place gives off during a class is awesome. This is the type of studio I've missed being in and taking class in so I'm happy to have found it. You'll probably catch me here every Friday if I can make it out to Hollywood for class!
