One of the smartest, warmest and dedicated physicians I have ever met. When I get sick I want Dr. Vogelmann at my side.

She (we) had been seeing another Dr. for a while who had been treating her very poorly. I knew we had to leave this Dr. right away, but honest to God I didn't know where to go. It can be very difficult to find a Dr that is willing to take on a complicated patient. It was then we found this wonderful Doctor, Julia McMurray; gentle, kind, comforting, reassuring AND an extremely skilled Physician; yes our Angel. A year or two passed and Dr. McMurray moved to another area for a while, BUT she would not leave until she picked the perfect replacement to care for my wife....and she hit a another home run. Dr. McMurray is truly an awesome person and I (we) will never forget her.

She gladly answered all of my questions and covered any other topics that she felt should be addresses when establishing care with a new patient. She didn't just want to know my medical history. She actually cared about my lifestyle and quality of life. She also isn't test-happy, which is pretty rare. Despite being in good health, most doctors send me to get lab tests every time I visit them, which I always think is an unnecessary waste of money, but probably common in the age of medical malpractice lawsuits. I have a ton of respect for Dr McMurray and am happy to have found a doctor that I enjoy seeing.

My experience with him and his staff has been nothing short of a model for how doctors should interact with patients.First, Dr. Ciske listens attentively to his patient and only then does he ask questions and discuss the reason for the visit. He conducts a conversation and treats the patient as an adult. Only then does he make suggestions for the future, taking into account what the patient said, explaining his advice, and proceeding in collaboration with the patient's wishes, fears and hopes. A true professional by any standard, Dr. Ciske is one of the finest physicians I have ever met in the past 5 decades.

Ciske was the first doctor I tried when a sudden major medical problem convinced me that I needed a primary care doc. I went once and never returned, because of two things that happened during that first visit. #1: The nurse took my health history before Ciske came in, as usual. When he arrived, he looked at my chart and said to me, "So you're in relationship?" A bit taken aback, I responded, "Uh, no, what?" I looked over at the computer screen and he was UNCHECKING THE SEXUALLY ACTIVE BOX. That ANY physician could be so incredibly narrow-minded, and in a way that actively threatens the health of patients, is absolutely astounding. The fact that Ciske seemed to be relatively young--definitely not over 35--just made it all the more baffling. Fortunately, I was assertive enough to tell him immediately that I was in fact sexually active, but no woman should be put in that position by her doctor. #2: Because of my then-recently discovered clotting disorder, he insisted that I should not take ANY form of hormonal birth control. I use Depo Provera (the shot), which is progesterone-only, and had little interest in giving it up--especially given that blood thinner meds cause fetal bone deformation, so it's kind of important to avoid getting knocked up by accident. I pointed out to him at the time that there was only a known association between estrogen and blood clots. His response? "Well, they're all hormones." That's right. This man has an MD and he apparently believes all hormones do the same thing. Probably he would have strongly opposed treating me with insulin if I'd been diabetic, too--that's a hormone, after all! Numerous other doctors, including two hematologists and an obgyn, confirmed later that, as I already knew, Depo Provera is actually the preferred hormonal contraceptive for women with clotting problems. To sum up, this man is either a stealth puritan or an idiot; either way, you do not want to entrust your health and safety to him.

Beamsley was my third attempt at finding a primary care doctor who didn't make me want to strangle…read morethem. I'm in my mid-20s and have some medical issues that require management by a hematologist; I'm also a graduate student and very invested in my own care. Previous primary care docs had treated me like an idiot and given me info that I strongly suspected was erroneous. I tried Beamsley on the advice of another grad student (who is also, like me, female), and I am so glad I did. During my first physical, I mentioned that friends of mine in Missouri had been required to discontinue Depo Provera (the birth control shot) because physicians there told them that no one should be on it for than five years. Beamsley, who is also an ob-gyn (I see someone else for that), told me he had never heard anything about such a limit, but he would check the literature. I sort of assumed that was the end of it, but two days later, HE CALLED ME AT HOME to tell me that he had looked into it and found nothing in the medical journals about such a limit. He has always taken the time to answer any questions I've had and he obviously respects my intelligence. He's a little socially awkward, but not obnoxious or insensitive. I rarely like doctors even when I have to deal with them, but I like Beamsley a lot, and I feel lucky to have found such a good PC.

He is the BEST doctor around!! He follows up with you the same day as he promised unlike the other…read moredoctors in the past that who have empty promises. My husband and I have been going to him for years and now we have a daughter who also sees him too! We are just very please with Dr. Beamsley. He is compassionate, friendly, he LISTENS and excellent bedside manners; meaning, when I was in the hospital after delivering my daughter, he would sit next to the bed to talk instead of standing. As for the earlier review about Dr. Beamsley issuing fake absences, I truly find that hard to believe. I hope that individual who made those accusations really look hard at themselves and realize he/she is really wrong about Dr. Beamsley.
