I decided to start playing my bass guitar again after being non active for a bunch of years and it needs a little TLC before I can slap my axe . Astoria music is really a mom and pop old school music shop that sells and service many different types of musical instruments and they have music teachers as well if you want your little one to learn an instrument or if you the adult want to start a new hobby . Very nice gent who i assume is the owner , looked over my bass and knew exactly needed to be done . A few parts had to be replaced and I didn't mind cause I do recall how nice my fender bass sounded when it was in peak shape . 3 days later it was ready and the sound is exactly what I remembered after all these years . Glad my friend told me about this music store and would recommend this place 100 percent. 4.5 stars on my yelp meter.

Guitar is buttery smooth, did a great job. Also offered a free tune up under warranty if anything shifts which is very generous of him given that this NYC winter nearly guarantees a shift in the setup. Don't think I'll need to ever look elsewhere as long as he's around.

I brought in my precious Martin HD-28 acoustic for a repair and a setup after reading great testimonials, and he took the time to walk me through not only the process of the repair, but also gave me a necessary lesson on humidifiers for the room and guitar case in these dry New York winters which can cause the wood to shrink and eventually crack on delicate instruments. As a recent transplant from Los Angeles, I had never had to worry about these temperature and humidity issues, but now I'm an "evangelist" about this and I've been sharing this advice to all of my musician friends and bandmates, thanks to Farhad's great advice! He also stands by his warranty on his setups, and just performed an expert tune-up on my Martin after the initial set up for no charge, while I brought the guitar to the shop (by appointment). He is also a very friendly guy, and makes his own bespoke line of electric guitars and pedals, and I've spoken to one of his employees? apprentices? partners? also working on the repair bench at Southside Guitars in Williamsburg, which to me exemplifies a real community of professional craftsmen and musicians who are passionate about guitars. I know where I'll be taking my guitars from now on. I've spent a lot of time finding "my" guitar techs/luthiers in LA over the years, and I'm so happy to have found Farhad here in Williamsburg. I will recommend him to everyone I know in New York.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Jesse Wallace as a teacher and mentor. When I first…read morestarted working with him, I knew virtually nothing about jazz drumming and had almost no understanding of music theory. I was intimidated, unsure of myself, and honestly not very confident in my abilities. But Jesse saw potential in me long before I could see it in myself. Over the years, he has patiently and skillfully guided me from those very first uncertain steps to a place I once only dreamed of reaching. Today, I can proficiently read music notation and even perform jazz drum solos -- something that always felt far out of reach. Thanks to Jesse, I can also play a pretty mean swing mambo! That growth didn't happen by accident; it happened because Jesse is not only deeply knowledgeable, but also incredibly dedicated and thoughtful in the way he teaches. What truly sets Jesse apart is his patience. No matter how many times I struggled or needed something explained again, he never rushed me or made me feel inadequate. He creates a supportive, encouraging environment where learning feels safe and progress feels possible. His calm demeanor and steady belief in his students make all the difference. Studying with Jesse has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my musical journey. I'm beyond grateful for his guidance, his expertise, and his unwavering encouragement. If you're looking for a teacher who combines deep musical knowledge for any style of playing (Jazz, Rock, Metal, etc) with extraordinary patience and genuine care for his students, Jesse Wallace is truly exceptional.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that once we opened the dance floor during our reception, it was packed for the entirety of the night with excited guests from many generations singing and dancing along to his impeccable set from start to finish. Ben impressed us so much with his attention to detail, responding directly to how our guests reacted to each track, seamlessly transitioning to the next, feeding into the vibe while still surprising us with exciting twists and turns. As emcee for the night, Ben couldn't have been more professional. His announcements were clear, even the difficult names were pronounced perfectly, and every music cue during our cocktail hour, ceremony, cake cutting, and reception was perfectly timed. Ben provided us with very easy-to-follow instructions to help him shape our night. His communication with us was crystal clear; we knew exactly what he needed, and we trusted him to carry it out. We met with him a few times over Zoom in the year leading up to the wedding, and he worked directly with our wedding planner, who recommended him, nailing every detail and request made along the way. I was never once worried or anxious about our decision to work with Ben and Remixologists, as it was very clear he understood exactly what we were looking for, and he was friendly and confident throughout the entire process. Working with Ben was hands down one of our favorite parts of our wedding planning and the event itself. Now a month out, we're still getting compliments from our guests about how much fun our reception was. We wholeheartedly endorse Ben and Remixologists. Our wedding simply wouldn't have been the same without him. He's a true professional, through and through.
