After three years of shlepping myself over to a hipster salon in Fitzroy, I finally decided to try…read morean unassuming little neighbourhood salon right here in Seddon. Caprice is owned and run by the multi-talented Kelly. She occasionally has an assistant on hand but sometimes it's just her so it's best to call ahead of time and book an appointment. Kelly has been doing my shellac manicures for about a year now. The prices are very reasonable: 25-30 dollars and about five dollars cheaper than the same service at Jade and Opal nail salons in Yarraville. Her shellac rarely chips and stays on a lot longer than at some other places. I can usually go three weeks between reapplications when I've been to Caprice. A few months ago I went home to the US and got an amazing haircut for 35 dollars. I just couldn't stomach the idea of paying 75-80 for the same (usually subpar) service in Melbourne so when Kelly told me that her haircuts were priced at 30-40 I reckoned I had to give it a go. SO happy that I did. At Caprice the hair wash is optional, which is partly why the price is so low. A blow dry is still included and Kelly spends quite a long time making sure my hair looks good. She doesn't rush through the process. I've now had two haircuts here and they've both looked phenomenal. My partner usually prefers me with my hair up but he likes my Caprice cuts so much that he's been requesting I leave it down: A first in our six years together! There are two other salons down the street that both charge 70 dollars for a simple cut. I can't imagine that they'd be any better than the cuts on offer over at Caprice. The extra forty bucks probably goes to a complimentary latte and a five minute shampoo. No thanks. For price and quality you can't beat this place.

I found this salon after a quick google search, and Kellie was able to fit both me and my partner…read morein for a cut that same day. She did a wonderful job, one of the best cuts I have had. A few weeks and one awful home dye experience later, kellie was able to fit me in the next day and completely transform my hair into exactly what I had imagined. Absolutely thrilled with the service, could not reccomend this salon enough! Thanks once again.

The mani-pedi scene in Port Melbourne is big business. I know there's a lot of polished ladies in…read morethis area but seriously, the competition is fierce when you have no less than 7 nail salons within 1-2km radius! It's hard to pick one when they all appear to be exactly the same. Prices are cheap, but that's not always the greatest selling point in an industry where hygiene is a concern. I have been to Fresh Nails a few times and haven't had any issues to date - the salon is clean, the ladies are all friendly, careful and efficient. I've only ever had one minor cuticle nick and they were extremely apologetic and fussed over me a lot to make sure there was no real damage or bleeding. The one thing this place does have over neighbouring ones (this is the only reason I pick this one over others I've tried) is that they give a good massage. Every mani or pedi I've had has included a short but decent foot or hand massage that is a little better than just slapping on some hand cream. Prices are cheap, $30 for a spa pedi and for memory, about the same for a shellac mani with $5 removal of old colour.

What I love about Fresh Nails is that they really take a mani & pedi to the next level. I've been…read moregoing there for a couple of years now and since their competition opened two doors down (Good nails) they have had 50% off every service in the name of their "3rd Birthday" sale which has carried over for close to 12 months now. Hey, if it means I can get a full manicure for $11 and a full spa pedicure for a ridiculous $27 then I'm not complaining. Here's to another birthday!

Don't go there if you value healthy strong nails!…read more I'm struggling to give them one star! I've been a long term customer for many years, but after my last experience I will not be returning. Not that I will be able to get my nails done for some time, since it will take me months to grow out the damage caused to my fingernails from this one bad manicure/butchery! I went for gel removal and deluxe Mani & Peddi. The technician who was removing the gel from my fingernails, rather than gently buffing the surface on the gel to enable removal used a very coarse file and filled all the gel along with most of the layers of my natural nails, till they were paper thin and had to be cut off all the way down to the nail bed to enable the manicure to be completed. I stopped her five times and asked her to stop filing. If I hadn't had another technician working on my feet, I would have walked out then and there. After completely stuffing my nails, she applied one thick coat of polish rather than two to three that are usually applied, and the nail art is so crooked and badly done, that, rather than getting compliments, for the unusual design, I have been asked a number of times since I got out of there, " is it meant to look like that?" The answer is NO IT'S NOT! APPALING! Even when I complained and asked her to stop, explained that she was filling off the layers of my nails she argued. I'm kicking myself for being to polite to make her stop and do the work properly.

The salon was quite during my mid afternoon visit so luckily for me there was no waiting! My pedi was quick (30min) but was accurate and done well. No tools are re used. However, the pumice and nail files used during your treatment are then kindly offered to you to take home (optional). The loyalty card given to me will definitely be utilized. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!
