I own a rental house. The tenant recently informed me that the oven had quit working. One call to Volkmann's Appliance and I got the correct part I needed. Todd even walked me through the steps to fix it. After repairing the stove my tenants reminded me that the dishwasher was also broken. Ugh. That's how it goes when you're a landlord. I had considered getting a new dishwasher from a box store but after such great service (and advice) I bought one from Volkmann's. Found a great model that was deeply discounted, in the right color and handed over a check. Delivery was on time. Install was done in an hour (on time) and the old one was hauled away. Perfect! Stay away from this place! I wish I had read reviews first! They caused damage to my home and they will not stand by it! This has been a nightmare! They installed a new washer and dryer for us and we only had it three days! Had they run a simple test cycle the water spraying out of the hose would have been caught! That's why I pay the "professionals" to hook things up! They told me they have to use all new hoses for liability purposes, well my old hoses didn't send tons of water through my floor/ceiling!! Not sure what liability they are speaking of, because they aren't even standing behind anything! I'm all about supporting local businesses, but save your money and shop elsewhere! read more

Called to have my KitchenAid dishwasher repaired and was told that, since I purchased it from Home Depot rather than them, they were too busy to send someone out, but I could take it out and bring it in for them to inspect at their leisure. read more

I recently replaced all of my appliances (fridge, range, dish washer, washer/dryer) and I chose Volkmann. I actually didn't even need to shop around because when I walked in for my "scouting" mission, the salesperson (Cody) was so helpful I ended up finding everything and bought all on the spot. He is proactive and responsive managing everything from the sale to delivery and helping with rebates. I ended up with everything on my list and I didn't have to drive all over to the big box stores or spend a ton of time online. Very pleased with my experience with Volkmann and with Cody. read more

Don't expect a thank you! Rude and dishonest. claimed black was not available. when I checked it was available in black. they just wanted to sell for model on the floor. Had to pay for delivery ANd extra to remove old washer $1200 cost 10 years ago. from these rude people 4 people on their computers. no one looked up or bothered to great. this is awful. they refused to install a friends $2200 washer set because it was a tight doorway. we got help and easily got it installed and told "don't come back" you bet. over $6000 in purchases count for nothing. read more

One of my first questions looking at Volkmann's for a refrigerator was the ease of fix in the event of an issue down the road. I was told all their appliances are easy to fix. So I purchased a refrigerator and after one year and two months the inside temperature warmed up. Trouble-shooting the issue with Volkmann the immediate conversation included the notion of buying another warranty. The gentleman stated flatly, "you should always buy an extended warranty... these appliances always go down. I work on these and I buy an extended warranty. I'm even working on an issue with my own appliance right now." The gentleman initially suggested that I thaw the fridge for a day and a hlaf, and this worked for about a month. He also suggested that I purchase the additional warranty, nurse the refrigerator along for a couple months to qualify for the warranty, and then get it fixed under the warranty. The warranty is about $97/year and the other probable issue with the refrigerator is probably $290. I should "come out even" ... that's on paper though and doesn't include the weeks of headache and fretting over what was thought to be a good investment. Update: after speaking on the phone and going to the store twice, I was still encouraged to purchase and extended warranty. My existing limited warranty covering the compressor did not apply. Further, Volkmann stated my warming/icing was not compressor-related. Calling a La Crosse appliance outfit, they said my issue could very well be a compressor issue. I completed a couple reviews online, as well as a BBB complaint and boy did I start getting phone calls and emails offering help. Meanwhile I had already contacted a mom/pop garage appliance guy who knew my model and extracted the better part of 6oz of water that didn't drain by itself due to the design. We've never had an issue with their service, price or selection. We're not picky, so the fact they don't have 100's of choices of stoves or fridges doesn't bother us. I'll tell you what does: their hours. Winonans are working people. For pete's sake be open when we get off work to shop! Menards is. Best Buy is. Midwest Appliance is. Lowes is. Be open longer on Saturday!!!! Have some Sunday hours!! Open your sales floor later, maybe 10am, but stay open longer than 5 or 6!! Many a times have we said: we should check Volkmans, but you're closed! Can't sell more stuff....if you aren't open. read more

Bought a $1500 fridge & a $900 Stove on 2/27 , trying to support the small local buisness and because I was familiar with the salesman from years ago. I now have NO REASON to support a buisness such as this.......because when I have water leaking all over my new wood floors , from this defective fridge , that has a plugged defrost drain hole today ( on 3/28 31 days after delivery) ......I called and asked for service. The service man said the soonest they could get to me would be 5 days from today, next Wednesday and that I could keep wiping up the water on my new hardwood floor until then. That's what I got for supporting the local small buisness? This is a terrible way to set yourself apart from the big box stores and claim "small town service" .........the wool has been lifted from my eyes with this particular store. I did get a refund the following Monday when they came to retrieve the defective whirlpool French door w/ bottom freezer fridge. I ended up doing better research before buying our next fridge and going with a Kenmore side by side, from Sears . At least they still deliver and service their appliances they sell.. We ended up with no fridge for a week tho in the interim. We also got a bigger, better fridge for nearly $500 less, with free delivery & setup to tho......will see how day 32 goes! read more

I do not understand the poor reviews on this business. We have purchased a washer and dryer from them along with an extended warranty. We have had to have service on the units twice and have had excellent service both times. Volkmann's was responsive in providing service and repair of the unit. Each time I've spoken with them on the phone, they have been very helpful and professional. read more

shifty and shady folks work for the this "LOCAL" business. waited for 10 days for washer of the same model I had bought 18 months earlier that broke beyond repair. good thing I got the extended warranty. now after waiting 10 days...we went to wash the first load and the new model is stuck on rinse and will not complete the cycle. called the store got transferred from person to person then got a voicemail that cut off my message after 3 seconds. so much for buying local from here on out for appliances, this local store has lost all credibility with my family of 8 adult siblings who used to all buy from this establishment. I have convinced them all to take their money elsewhere. read more
