Glass art has been my passion and the focus of my art collection during the past decade. The height of folly considering I have a couple of boisterous boys at home. Boys that regularly play tackle football and wrestle in my family room. I've never regretted an art purchase. But, I have regretted walking away from some over the years. And in some cases have gone to great lengths to procure a piece I spotted while on vacation. The reason is that I typically like to step back and think about it for awhile before making a purchase. My bright line for making an art purchase is whether it tortures me a little bit by its absence. The Volta Glass Gallery is across the street from the Jennifer Sears Glass Art Studio and is where the artists based there sell their work. After making my own glass art, it gave me an even greater appreciation for the artists working in this medium. When I walked into Volta, I was greeted by Kelly Howard and gravitated toward the most recent addition to her collection. A stunning piece and we had a lovely conversation about her work in the gallery. Everything from light fixtures to glass floats and a lot in between. I thought about it for a day and returned to make my purchase. Even though it was no longer Black Friday, they gave me the special discount we discussed on my initial visit. Great customer service all around. I'm thrilled to have acquired two new pieces for my collection on this trip to the coast. My amateur effort and the work of a master in the field. read more

This is our third time at this gallery as we travel north from California, or south from Washington. It is SPECTACULAR! The owner Kelli came in while we were trying to decide on a piece. She was just delightful and was the gentleman who took us across the street to meet her at her other gallery. So delighted to find the beautiful piece we walked away with. This is a must do stop if you are traveling through the area. They have glassblowing across the street and you can make your own, with a lot of help. After a few trips to LC and not finding our own float on the beach, I decided to buy one as a memento of our first vacation in a couple years. Did some research online and didn't see what I was looking for at LCGC at my price point, and the very kind man called across to Volta Gallery to see what they had. Volta had what I wanted and they put three to one side to let me pick. Absolutely wonderful customer service from LCGC - and also amazing service from Volta. The sales associate didn't mind my indecision over which one to get and then also helped me with a light box. Absolutely top notch and now I have a piece of Kelly Howard to take home! read more

I felt guilty purchasing my first piece of fine art here. So guilty that after I fell in love with a vase I had to go have a cocktail before I finally decided to buy it. The reason is due to the fact that Volta is the most unbelievably and absolutely magnificent glass gallery I've ever been in. After visiting the Lincoln City Glass Center across the street (http://www.yelp.com/biz/lincoln-city-glass-center-lincoln-city) I decided to check out what they had for sale. Walking in, a really cool artist named Kelly said hi and started telling me about how she was one of the glass blowers who made a good chunk of the pieces on display. Ironically, every one I looked at, she had made within her tenure. Chatting and walking around I spotted a clear vase etched with the saying "Some Days are Better than Others" part of a line she had recently created for a friend's birthday. I kept staring at it, and she said that it was a piece she wondered if she should take home. I myself thought the same thing... but could I really do that to her? "Once you sell a piece of art, it's gone forever. You never see it again." Kelly told me. I left... saying I would think about it, though leaving my gut knew that I would return shortly. And I did.... I walked in and she looked up, no hellos were exchanged. "I took pictures." I smiled, and said "Can I send you more photos of all the places I display it? I promise I'll cherish it forever." I felt like I was taking away her child... but she laughed and wrapped it up in layers of bubble wrap and cardboard, saying that she had a feeling I was the right one to sell it to. I actually felt a little honored. It's not everyday you wander into a little shop and leave with a piece of craftsmanship and the story behind it. Such is the case with every glass work that comes out of this gallery. There is a definite pride and connection between the artist and the art. It's a beautiful thing. So now I'm sitting here looking at the vase, wondering where on earth I can find a place worthy enough to show off the work of an amazing artist I had the pleasure to meet, while still making sure it never comes within harms way. I think I need another gin and tonic. read more

Very nice little glass art gallery. Lots of glass jewelry plus glass decorations. We purchased a small candle holder or vase, hand blown by a local artist. Salesperson was cheerful and there to chat if I had been so inclined. They also have a nicely stocked sale room in the back. Unfortunately I didn't find a bargain but I love my souvenir of the Oregon Coast. read more

I love the wire jewelry they have there. The glass is amazing as well but with my youngsters I lean towards things they can't break.

They have blown glass, paintings, photography, jewelry, pottery. Wide variety of prices, so everyone will find something special handmade to take home. After not being about to find any glass floats on the beach, my husband took me to the glass art place across the street from Volta. We looked around with our 2 kids in tow. We ended up coming to Volta to look for a glass float. We met a very nice man named Kirk. He chatted with us and showed us a few pieces telling us about the artists. He even chatted with my 2 year old daughter (she's a chatterbox). He gave us information regarding the Finders Keepers program and even gave us recommendations for dinner. I appreciate, more than he will know, him being so friendly. read more

We are small collectors (one or two small pieces a year). We loved Jennifer's work. We found an array of very beautiful, artistic designs. As an added bonus, we were able to speak with her and share a few laughs. She has a nice shop and great customer service. We will be back. read more
