I had a very disappointing experience with the Hyundai service department in Milledgeville, specifically with the manager, Devin Zumaran. I brought my car in for one issue: a coolant leak. I explained that when I dropped it off, but was still charged $214.97 for a diagnostic test that confirmed exactly what I had already told them. I understand dealerships may have required procedures for liability reasons, but the price felt excessive. My car was kept for over 5 hours, and I was also given a long list of additional recommended services, including brake fluid, brake pads, tire rotation, and filters. Those may be standard checks, but I came in for a coolant leak, which was my immediate concern. At checkout, Andrea Harper, the initial staff member helping us, was kind and professional. The woman sitting next to him was also courteous. My issue is not with them. The problem began when Devin Zumaran stepped in. When my mother and I expressed frustration about the diagnostic cost, he became defensive. We repeatedly said we understood the liability reasoning but disagreed with the price. Instead of de-escalating, he continued explaining it in a way that felt dismissive. At one point, he used an example about "bald tires" and said if Hyundai did not tell a customer their tires were bald and they got into an accident, Hyundai could be liable. When I tried to reiterate we understand (and have to get to work), he snapped, "You're not letting me finish." He continued to mansplain to me and my mother who were raised by mechanics. They quoted me over $1,000 for the repair, not including the diagnostic fee. Based on my research and own knowledge, the part appears to typically run around $200-$300, meaning the labor/additional charges seemed very high. After leaving, I spoke with two local mechanics who quoted me a maximum of around $600 for the same issue. The only catch with the local mechanics is that I will need to wait a few days, which I would rather do than pay significantly more after an unpleasant interaction. While paying, I asked how many times ownership had changed because this dealership used to provide better service. Devin said ownership had changed twice in five years. When I told my mother I preferred the previous owners who gave me free oil changes, Devin responded, "I do too." For a manager to openly say he also preferred the previous ownership only reinforced my concerns about the direction of the business and the quality of the customer experience under the current ownership. Unfortunately, this is not the first time I have left this dealership feeling dismissed. In 2021, I walked onto their lot interested in buying a car. After mentioning that it was my first time looking at cars by myself and that my grandfather usually helped me with things like that, the salesman became reluctant to continue helping me without my grandfather present. My grandfather had passed away, so that was not an option. I left and, within 48 hours, found the same make and model at another Hyundai dealership in Stone Mountain: a year newer, with half the mileage, and $12,000 cheaper. Overall, I left feeling overcharged, dismissed, and frustrated. Devin Zumaran's defensive handling of the situation is a large reason why I chose to take my car elsewhere. I purchased my vehicle from them almost 3 years ago and signed a contract for free oil changes until 100,000 miles. I arrived this morning after an hour drive for an oil change at 73,000 and was told they no longer honor that. No notice was sent out or any warning. read more

Earlier today, I had a scheduled appointment for an oil change for a Santa Fe that I purchased at what is now Hyundai of Milledgeville. It was formerly known as Volume Hyundai, and part of the purchase package was free oil changes for life. As I arrived today, I was told they no longer honor the free oil changes as a result of the change of ownership. I purchased a Hyundai and believe Hyundai needs to honor that agreement. There was never a message sent to owners advertising this change, nor was there any information provided by the dealership. There were several other customers experiencing the same notification and after scheduling an appointment, making arrangements to get the car there, often missing work, we feel this is a breach of contract and violation of trust. Free oil changes were one of the perks associated with buying a Hyundai, and we feel by not honoring the original agreement, this is nothing less than a lie. I thought Hyundai was better than this and as a Hyundai owner for over 15 years, they have lost all credibility with me and my family. read more

In February of this year, we took our 2023 Santa Cruz in for oil change and tire rotation. A piece of the trim had also fallen off and so they had to order it. About 2 weeks later, we noticed a thumping sound in our back end. We stopped and checked our tires, but we did not find anything wrong. We kept our eyes on it. We decided to have them check it out once the other part was in. When that came in we took the car in and told them about the noise. They said they checked it out and decided it was our tow mechanism that was loose. They also said they gave it a "test" drive and found nothing wrong. On our way home, the sound in the back got very loud, almost like a helicopter landing. I started to drive very slowly and then the back right tire and wheel snapped off and I tried to apply brakes but they would not work. We ended up by the side of the road! We got out and called a tow truck. While we were waiting I looked for the tire, and I found pieces of it by the side of the road! It turns out that one of the lugnuts had broken and the other 4 were missing. We called the next day after it was towed, and they said they were "preparing me a bill" for the parts. After we explained it was their fault they said they would talk to the boss. They called about 4 days after that and said there was no bill and that the car was ready. They did not apologize or offer any compensation for their negligence. We filed a complaint with the state attorney general and also Hyundai and are waiting to hear from them. Meanwhile, our car is ready but we are both afraid to drive it home because of their shoddy workmanship! DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM VOLUME HYUNDAI. THEY ARE SCAMMERS. read more

DO NOT TRUST THIS SERVICE DEPARTMENT WITH YOUR CAR! Twice now, I've had my son (a student at GCSU) take his Tucson in for servicing because of a check engine light. Both times, he's had issues almost immediately after getting the car back. The first time, he was in Atlanta and I had to have the work re-done. The Atlanta technicians noted that this dealership performed work that was not required by the diagnostic codes, and used non-Hyundai parts. The Atlanta mechanic had to re-do the work I'd already paid over $700 for Volume Hyundai to do. In response to my demand, Hyundai refunded less than $200 (after I had to pay the Atlanta technician another $360). This time, my son took it in again and they worked on the coolant system. A couple of days after getting it back, the car leaves my son on the side of the road after midnight because there was no coolant whatsoever in the car. Hyundai insists that this issue had nothing to do with their earlier repairs, so I am now having to tow the car to another mechanic in the area. This isn't the end of it. I'm not taking it lying down, and am in the midst of preparing a lawsuit, but I want to save anyone else the grief. read more

10 months ago we purchased a used truck from this dealership, the third vehicle we had purchased from them. After the purchase someone let it slip that the inspection done on the vehicle had been "start, stop, run". Meaning that there really was no inspection at all. I was angry enough about this that they had me bring it back in for a "complete" inspection. I left if there for 2 1/2 days, they gave me a loaner vehicle. At the end of that period the assured me that all was well. HA!!! Within a couple months the motor was stalling out, when warm weather came around, the AC didn't work. So back we went. After $1350 the AC worked and the motor ran smoothly; for a while. When it started stalling out again, my husband just drove it. Eventually we took it to a different mechanic. After another $1100 the truck runs like a brand new one, and guess what? They actually DID the work that Volume Hyundai charged us for four months ago. NEVER, EVER, EVER go there for any mechanical work. I guess I should have known when they has a different service manager every time I took my other vehicle in for an oil change. There are also issues with their sales department. I was approached by the salesman that sold me one of my other vehicles on a visit for an oil change and he asked me if I was ready to trade yet. I told him if he had a "luxury" car that I could get for no money down and the payments where I wanted them, we would talk. Next thing I know they are running my credit for a Lexus that was out of my price range and didn't even have the leather seats that I told them were a must have. Stay away from this place. read more

Please be very aware when you buy from this dealership. I just had a horrible nightmare experience with this dealership. My sales man told me I was approved and what my payment would be, put money down and signed all the paperwork and drove my new car home that day! Only for them to call me almost 2 weeks later and inform me my loan did not go through. I was blown away..... what do you mean.... I was told I was approved!!!!! Well evidently there is a form you sign that no one explains to you exactly what it means. Please read the bailment agreement form!!!!! This form is what allows them to send you out the door with a new car leaving them to finsh your approval from the banks and if your loan don't go through the car you thought was yours is no longer yours!!!! You have to renegotiate the loan, witch could mean higher payemts, higher interest or they can't do the loan at all. Please make sure you are really approved before you take possession of the car. read more
