Treehouse theme is cool and they have some good slides for the kiddos. There is also a walk at path that goes somewhere, but I have gone far down it yet. Across the road is a tank, helicopter and plane or so I am told as well. Parking can be tricky on a weekend as it gets packed and a spaces are limited. Nice park with mostly friendly people.

They have one pavilion that has picnic tables so if it isn't rented out you can use. There are a few benches near the park but on a hot day shade is minimal. I like that they have a variety of climbing objects, plenty of swings, including the two in one where you can have a baby in a baby swing while you're in a adult one. It's a decent sized playground so plus the parking situation is pretty good. Not too hard to find parking.

I came from California, where the prices for registering a car is usually at least $100...but is like half as much here in Tennessee! Charline and one other lady helped me out and they did a great job, and I loved their warm Southern hospitality! The only difficulty I had there was with my proofs of residency because they are technically two addresses for the university campus housing I lived in at the time, where the postal service prefers one while the university prefers another. However, the ladies somehow didn't let that stop us and I was able to still get my new license plate/tag! ‍

This Memorial started within a couple of weeks of the tragedy, on July 16th 2015 when a young Isis…read moresympathizer decided to open fire here at a military recruiting center and then again 5 miles away on Amnicola Highway where the 5 died. The community rose up to support the families and for more than 2 months. Flags were being waved off bridges and the grass area here because covered in flags and notes. A flag pole went up within two weeks and money was raised for what you see here. Chattanooga stood strong during and after this event but will not be forgotten.

We took probably 20-30 minutes inside, then hopped on a golf cart for the guided part of the tour. It ended up taking about an hour to an hour and a half. Our guide was so knowledgeable and made learning fun (per my kids!). If you want to learn a little history in a relaxed and engaging environment, you should stop in here! Keep in mind that most of the tour/museum is outside, so if you don't want to get wet or be too cold or too hot, plan your visit with the weather in mind.

But once we boarded the golf cart on the guided tour with Jody, that all changed. The weather was great, which always helps but the knowledge Jody shared at each stop took us back in history. As a teacher, I appreciated each detail and he (Jody) was always ready to answer questions. The property around the museum is where all of the history took place and Tunnel Hill takes great pride in their local treasure. I was surprised to learn all the seemingly small place had to offer. Kudos to all the people who work hard to keep this place alive. My kids and I had a great visit! I will note that it is more for middle school and up. And it's good for the kids to already have some knowledge about the Civil War. I only rate it one star less than perfect because the displays and mannequins need quite a bit of updating. So much history…read more I can truly appreciate the self guided narration by utilizing the NPS app. It helps keep you on track as you navigate through the battlefield. Next visit I plan to do a little more walking around. This is a huge land mass and there are some areas you cannot get to via vehicle. It was nice to see lots of people on bike, flying kites and with the pets.
