Treehouse theme is cool and they have some good slides for the kiddos. There is also a walk at path that goes somewhere, but I have gone far down it yet. Across the road is a tank, helicopter and plane or so I am told as well. Parking can be tricky on a weekend as it gets packed and a spaces are limited. Nice park with mostly friendly people.

They have one pavilion that has picnic tables so if it isn't rented out you can use. There are a few benches near the park but on a hot day shade is minimal. I like that they have a variety of climbing objects, plenty of swings, including the two in one where you can have a baby in a baby swing while you're in a adult one. It's a decent sized playground so plus the parking situation is pretty good. Not too hard to find parking.

I came prepared with all documents and waited a long time for a supervisor to decide how to handle my case. I was sent away without being helped properly. I did call Nashville and they confirmed I had done it right and assured me that they'd speak with the Bonny Oaks people. I didn't hold my breath. Lo and behold, 2 hours later, I received a call from Nashville saying they reversed the Bonny Oaks employees and approved my case. I was grateful, but it shouldn't have had to end like that. I want our government offices to be friendly AND competent. They must know what they're doing or be retrained. Sometimes, being friendly just doesn't cut it...especially in government work. Now that my husband has retired and we've chosen our forever home here in Tennessee, we had no choice but to handle the permanent registration. Although we encountered a typical Friday wait, Lindsay B. turned our visit into a truly pleasant experience. She was exceptionally welcoming, thanked my husband for his service, and processed our request for Silver Star specialty plates efficiently. I will say that this is an interesting place. This is where you go to get your car tags renewed or…read moreregister your car or get a handicap plate/tag. To get your driver's license, that's a separate location, which is kind of strange to me. I'm used to going to one place, the DMV - Department of Motor Vehicles - in California. It's an easy place to get in and out of, even when there's a long line. I've never waited more than 15 minutes or so. Coming from California, you can wait up to an hour and more, and that's WITH an appointment. Here, you just walk in. I've been there when there hasn't been any line and that's even more amazing! And the fees?!? You will never ever hear me complain about the fee to renew your tags. It's a flat fee of like $29!!! Yes! Again, in California it's a percentage of your car's value, meaning I've paid over $400 a YEAR to renew my tags. I keep waiting for Tennessee to say, "just kidding! Give us more money", but they don't. Oh, except if you live within the city limits of Chattanooga, you do pay $5 for an extra city tag. THEN you also pay a fee of $9 to do you car emissions test. In California (yeah I know I've said it many times) the emissions test or "smog check" as they are called there, does not have set fee. The centers are not State run, they are privately owned and can cost from $25-$100 or more. So here in Chattanooga I pay a whopping $43 a YEAR to renew my car tags. I'm telling you people, you don't know how good you have it here when it comes to government car fees. It's amazingly awesome!

The community rose up to support the families and for more than 2 months. Flags were being waved off bridges and the grass area here because covered in flags and notes. A flag pole went up within two weeks and money was raised for what you see here. Chattanooga stood strong during and after this event but will not be forgotten.

We took probably 20-30 minutes inside, then hopped on a golf cart for the guided part of the tour. It ended up taking about an hour to an hour and a half. Our guide was so knowledgeable and made learning fun (per my kids!). If you want to learn a little history in a relaxed and engaging environment, you should stop in here! Keep in mind that most of the tour/museum is outside, so if you don't want to get wet or be too cold or too hot, plan your visit with the weather in mind.

But once we boarded the golf cart on the guided tour with Jody, that all changed. The weather was great, which always helps but the knowledge Jody shared at each stop took us back in history. As a teacher, I appreciated each detail and he (Jody) was always ready to answer questions. The property around the museum is where all of the history took place and Tunnel Hill takes great pride in their local treasure. I was surprised to learn all the seemingly small place had to offer. Kudos to all the people who work hard to keep this place alive. My kids and I had a great visit! I will note that it is more for middle school and up. And it's good for the kids to already have some knowledge about the Civil War. I only rate it one star less than perfect because the displays and mannequins need quite a bit of updating. So much history…read more I can truly appreciate the self guided narration by utilizing the NPS app. It helps keep you on track as you navigate through the battlefield. Next visit I plan to do a little more walking around. This is a huge land mass and there are some areas you cannot get to via vehicle. It was nice to see lots of people on bike, flying kites and with the pets.
