It was my first time at this location. It's not in the best/ cleanest area but I was at the bowling alley dune the street and their snack bar wasn't open so I walked to Vons fur a snack. Upon entering the store there was the most foul, disgusting, gagging smell as you walked inside. We couldn't tell what it was or the virgin all we knew was it was DISGUSTINGLY!!!! Once we got 20-30 feet into the store the smell disappeared. Everything inside was wonderful , great deli section, fruit was fresh , store was clean and appealing. There were 4-5 lanes open and all of them were long but moving at a decent speed; the self serve lanes were open but I don't work there We grabbed a quick snack Oh wait, when I went to pay I used my digital card . The transaction was completed but didn't give me the opportunity to get cash back . When I told the cashier, he said I'd have to have the physical card to get cash back, I've never heard of that policy anywhere. I was frustrated but what could I do . Lucille there was an ATM on the corner and I was able to get the cash I needed. Take away the smell and the no cash with a digital debit card and I would've given them 5 stars. read more

Not only do they never have hand held baskets, but now they charge for paper bags with no handles, and since it's not 1962 anymore, that is ridiculous, penny pinching, and INCONVENIENT to their customers. But they clearly are not too concerned about customers because the lines are always very long, there are only 2-3 lines open during the busy times, there is NO express checkout, and they just don't care :( I'm talking about management, because employees don't make the staffing decisions. It takes so g-d long to get someone to unlock a cabinet that I don't even bother anymore, so another inconvenience. I had a very upsetting experience at this Vons location (3461 W 3rd St) on March 31 around 3 PM. As soon as I walked in, a store manager (name sounded like "Roseo") told me to leave, accusing me of previously stealing a shopping cart. This was completely false. When I asked them to review security footage to verify, they refused and still insisted I leave. I'm a regular customer and have never had any issues here before. As a darker-skinned man, the situation felt like possible racial profiling, which made it even more concerning. Very disappointing experience. this isn't the worst location i come here really often actually, and i don't really care about the VONS customer service in person because i usually just go in, grab what i need, and use self checkout without really interacting with anyone. But the security guards at this location genuinely suck. This location usually closes until 2am, it says so online and the customer service rep on the phone confirmed as well but recently the security guard-specifically a short hispanic woman always tries to have them close really early. once it was like at 1:30am that she already wasn't letting people in which is slightly more reasonable, but then last night at 12 am! i've been inside vons even past 2am before so them being closed before it's even 2am is not a usual occurrence. another security guard, a black man, asking about my clothing, where i work at, and which location. really weird and uncomfortable experience with certain security at this location idc if you're just curious or making conversation, some people don't want to give that information out, especially as a woman. and i get wanting to leave work early bc you're tired but if that's such a big problem that you're literally not letting anyone enter the business then get a different job where you don't have to work so late. i get off work pretty late and sometimes i wanna stop by for a snack or groceries for the next morning on my way home but bc they're not tryna stay late everyone else is inconvenienced. it's genuinely really dumb and selfish. read more

This Vons has really gone downhill and it's not the employees, it's the management. The store doesn't even have hand baskets anymore because they "were all stolen." If that's true, why aren't there cameras, signs, or any system in place to prevent it? How do they know it's not an inside job? Now customers are forced to use carts, and half the time there aren't enough, which makes shopping even more frustrating. They've also locked up more basic items behind glass, so you have to ring a buzzer just to get dish soap. I understand employees are busy, but someone clearly isn't managing the process, because you end up waiting forever or being forgotten entirely. Another incident: I arrived right when the store opened, along with several other customers. The manager saw us waiting at one entrance and opened the opposite door without saying a word. We stood outside for 30 minutes because we were not informed. This Vons treats customers like they're in a prison commissary. It's ridiculous. Quick and easy Vons with spacious parking lot, friendly service, Starbucks and a US Bank... I can hardly complain! They do get shopped hard, but not nearly as much as Ralph's directly across the street. Good produce, good deals and large layout as well that really helps. There isn't too many affiliate stores in the area (like Albertsons, Pavilions or another Vons - We don't really have the original Safeway grocery store locations in SoCal just their subsidiaries). Get your Vons fix off Vermont & 3rd near many connecting services including a few skips up from the Metro D - Purple Train (on Wilshire & Vermont). read more

I walk to the restroom enter in the code and as I already had the door open he comes yelling it's out of service. I ask him all the stalls he says yes. I proceed to use the restroom and wash my hands. When I came out he had lined up the carts and blocked me in. Then he didn't want to move them and wanted me to step over them or move them myself. So I waited, less than a minute he moved the carts. I snitched to the supervisor on site. Short black bald head with blue glasses on. No name tag. No flash light. Nothing. I am very upset that I came across town to get to this store at 140AM with the understanding that store hours were until 2AM. At least ten other people were outside when I arrived and the security guard was telling everyone they are closed, even though it was only 1:40AM. A worker then came out and said they were closing so they could all leave at 2AM. However, if the store hours say open until 2AM, the store should stay open until 2AM. It is totally unacceptable that these workers closed the doors 20 minutes before closing time. It is false advertising of store hours and a major inconvenience for people who were expecting to get food at a time we thought we could get food. This market is usually my go‑to, but my visit today around 6 p.m. left me very disappointed. I ended up in the supervisor's cashier line, which was extremely slow. I quickly realized the delay was because she was too busy micromanaging her employees instead of focusing on customers. Not only was the wait frustrating, but the way she treated her employee was uncomfortable to witness. She was openly rude and harsh, which made the whole experience unpleasant. This review is long overdue and my visit this past Saturday compels me to speak strongly against the quality of this location and its surroundings. The quality of the food is not the issue, nor the prices, per se. Each consumer can go where he feels pricing, quality, or variety of offerings are better. The problem, rather, is the look and feel of this Vons. Not in the greatest area, the Vons' parking lot is not meant to be a shining beacon of cleanliness, understandably. But when the parking lot looks dirty, AND there are vagrants abound AND a homeless is sleeping right by the entrance, something needs to be said. As I drove in from the side entrance on 2nd Street, I could see two vagrants, one looking like he was doing drugs and the other walking around up to no good. Once parked, I approached the east entrance and saw a homeless man under a blanket sleeping on the curb. There were teenage solicitors by the entryway, thus adding to the "noise" of the already filthy surroundings. Inside I saw 2-3 security guards who were not in that moment doing anything to have the homeless sleeper removed. The walls of the Vons property on the Vermont side where there is a bus stop is encased with graffiti; trash is thrown onto the narrow lawn area between that wall and the parking lot. Not only that, but the lines at this store are too long. There is also no customer support person standing at the booth in the middle of the store - it's only a booth where employees appear to clock in and out. This Saturday when I realized I was overcharged by over $10 (because the clerk incorrectly scanned 6 on-sale items), the employee clocking in/out at the booth area told me to go "stand back in line" so the clerk could rescan everything! What kind of customer service is this? Cashier neglects to carefully and accurately scan tags and the customer now has to go back in line? With the introduction of the self-checkout machines and no customer service booth, this Vons location is clearly about cost-cutting. She informed the cashier and came home in tears and so I immediately called customer service gave them a 1/2 hour time frame, my wife's description and asked them to check the ubiquitous surveillance because I thought the store might be interested in at least trying to put a face to the crime and protect other customers .The customer service person assured me that she would call me back. Needless to say she hasn't so I called them again and I'll be going down to the store tomorrow to talk to the manager in person. There aren't managers or workers available on the floor , they are either at registers so usually no one to ask for help. oOne of the doors to refrigerated items was missing a handle. And duct taped over!! I looked for the juice and didn't see any signs on the aisles. It's my first time going to Vons and I had the best experience ever!!!!! I came here to look for some flowers for my sister and my boyfriend's best friend. A cashier name Ana who worked at the flowers department did an amazing job helping me pick out flowers she was also so kind to let me know that she can wrap it for me. She took out the time to make the flowers look amazing. Talk about great customer service. I would definitely come here again because of my experience. During the time of me buying flowers my boyfriend also had a great experience at the Starbucks inside Vons. They made the drinks really good as well. Over all we had a great experience!! read more

I have no issues with the grocery side of the store, but the deli is terrible. Theres no way to tell who's in line so everyone shortcuts. The food is always mixed onto something else. For example. Today I seen wings nuggets and wedges all in the same tray. The workers give you an attitude and dirty looks for NO REASON. There's one young guy who works there who is the only person who does a great job. They have fed me plenty in the past but over the last 2 months it's just been getting dirtier and more disrespectful. Why should I continue spending money here? The workers who BARELY speak any English give you the most attitude and it only makes them and the store look bad. I got helped by Yanira in the meat department very nice with great costumer service she helped me find what I was looking for. First of all Vons is suppose to be a nice place to go grocery shopping. It sucks because main reason I am knocking off two whole stars is because of the restroom. I was so disappointed. The restroom stank so bad! It was so dirty too! Toilet paper was all over the floor and it looks like no one cleans it. I was shocked because they require a code to use the restroom and when I asked for the restroom they didn't give me the code. I waited outside the door because I heard the hand blow dryer. I waited for the person to come out and let me in. Despite that everything else was good. I just don't understand if a customer is asking for the restroom why not give them the code too. I was going to walk back and tell them why didn't they give me the code but instead I just waited since there was already someone inside. There is ample parking and usually they're good with customer service. I honestly didn't experience any great customer service or bad customer service just regular but I know that Vons is usually good at customer service. The store was nice and clean. Never choose this location for pickup orders...at least not later in the evening...my order was scheduled for pickup at 7pm and wasn't ready till 7:37 when I got the text and got here by 7:50 and went inside, there was nobody to help me. I wasted 30 mins waiting and I had to ask 2 grocery checkout workers to page someone to the pickup department, then follow up again and suggest the guy bagging groceries help me. Also, a pickup is supposed to be them bringing it to your car but of course the app rarely ever works and no one answered the phone -___- At that rate I could have shopped for my items and been gone sooner. Very frustrating and I will never order a pickup from here again. I think you need to hire more workers, this store is clearly understaffed. Times have surely changed. The Von's on Virgil and Sunset has gone downhill, while this one has improved. This store is well stocked, staff says hello, and it felt clean inside. Good prices have certainly gone up, a lot. I'm glad that, since it costs more, the place is at least comfortable. I did see some questionable sales, one of which I've uploaded as a photo. Dissapointed because this used to be my favorite grocery store. I have came 3 times into this location during my lunch and each time I have come the supposedly fresh meat case area it looks old and nasty. One time you could smell it. I tried talking to an employee and the only one there was someone named Yanira, she was a very rude and unpleasant person. I tried to ask nicely if they were going to bring in new meat since the one sitting there looked old and she said that's what they had and it was new. That last time I came I got diarrhea, clearly it was not new and yes I know I can always go to ralphs but vons is just closer to me. Hope this gets resolved soon. read more

Made the mistake of ordering ahead online to pick up at the store. To call the entire experience a disaster would be an understatement. All of the pick-up spaces in the lot were full, not a big deal normally, however when I parked where I could there was no way to indicate where I was on the app, so I went into the store. Big mistake. Sure this store appears to be normal, but the complete lack of any employee attention is clear. After asking several employees where the pick-up is for online orders, I was directed toward a small office at the front of the store. There was no one there and no way to notify anyone that I was waiting. There was a security guard seated right next to the office and he confirmed that I was in the right place and that the employee should be back "soon." He then continued to eat his deli lunch while on his phone. After waiting about 5 minutes, I thought I was able to flag down another employee to let them know I was waiting. She nodded at me, which I thought was an acknowledgment, but it turns out she was also on her phone and was walking to get her coffee drink at the Starbucks counter. After waiting an additional 5 minutes I just left. What is the point. I could get the same product right across the street from Ralph's, where I have never had any of these issues. But Vons wanted to keep delivering the fun! I realized that I had been charged for my order which, of course, I was unable to pick-up. So, I found the place on the app where I could request a refund. I did get a notice that a refund was under review and then I got a notice that it had been issued. Then I looked at it and the refund was for the $.20 cents I had been charged for bags that had not been used. Finally, I had to call Vons service center and have another 10 minutes wasted for the person to issue me the total and correct refund. Clearly this is a company that is terribly organized and they could not care less about your time or your money. I would, at all costs, avoid both this location and ever ordering online.
