We answered some questions about ourselves and our ceremony in a document and then talked for about an hour on the phone. When we got the first draft shortly after, we were so pleased! It was clear that Tami had really picked up on what we wanted. Editing together was also easy. After a few small rounds of edits, our final ceremony was absolutely beautiful. I read about Vow Muse on New York Times - and initially, I was a bit hesitant to spend on something that I could do myself. But given I am the first child that was getting married in my family, the father's speech/toast was something I wanted to be extra special and surprised. Angie and Alicia did a fantastic job directly coordinating with my dad. They took my high-level directions, listened carefully to what my father wanted to convey, and thoughtfully composed a speech to remember. We hired Vow Muse to both officiate and write our wedding ceremony. Vow Muse was the perfect choice for us. Let me preface this by saying - I am a professional writer. So, as a professional writer, I not only wanted to write our own wedding ceremony and vows, I thought doing so would be easy! WRONG! I handed our draft off to Alicia and spent a few minutes telling her what I was trying to say (and failing to say), and why my fiance and my relationship rocks. She took all of those ideas and really got to the heart of what makes our relationship work. Our ceremony was incredibly personal, unique, beautiful, and so perfectly us. Then our officiant - who we had hired months before - backed out three weeks before the wedding. I called Alicia in a panic, and she graciously offered to deliver the ceremony. Let me just start off by saying: Everything about being a Maid of Honor is wonderful! ; but the most dreadful part is always the MOH toast/speech. I mean, come-on, who loves public speaking, especially on your best friends' day in front of all of her closest family and friends! The pressure that is, at least for me, someone who's often times a perfectionist, and just wanted everything to be perfect and memorable. Nothing is worse than a really thought out speech with lots of interesting content, but horrible flow with poor engagement with the audience. So, being the true YELP'er, I yelped for help! Vow Muse, sounds interesting enough. A muse for my vows. I met with Alicia to go over the basics, all the interesting facts about my friend, and all of our little stories. At first, I thought, how would this be possible, a quick 1 hour conversation, and she would move mountains of anxiety for me? Alas, a little more than 2 weeks later, came the first draft. Of course we have tweaked it a couple times to have it more sounding like me, and not from a write genius like these two....but the end result is what counts! Very highly recommended. I'd give them six stars if I could! Angie and Alicia drafted a terrific speech for me to deliver at my daughter's wedding. It was my wife's idea to contact them -- it never occurred to me to ask for help with this, and I didn't think I needed it. Maybe with the public speaking part, but who better (I thought) than me to come up with some heartfelt words about my precious daughter? My wife persuaded me, though, with the thought that if professional speakers like politicians and tv news anchors have people writing speeches for them, why not try it? I'm so grateful to Angie and Alicia. The results were above and beyond anything I might have expected. They started out by asking lots of questions and listening, really listening, to the answers. Then they produced a first draft of the speech which literally brought me to tears. It addressed the things I had told them I wanted to talk about, and then went beyond those things to make some really thoughtful and appropriate comments about life and love and marriage. And that was just the beginning. Angie and Alicia were very receptive to the comments and changes I had, and through several rounds of edits the speech kept getting better. I also had a coaching session with them. That was very valuable. It was partly Public Speaking 101, which I needed, and partly an editing session, changing words and phrases here and there to make them come out of my mouth more easily. When the big day came I was able to deliver the words with a great deal of feeling and emotion. I was able to add an important piece to my daughter's wedding, and I came away feeling pretty darned good about myself. We LOVED working with Angie and Alicia -- they made our wedding spectacular! We got what they call "The Whole Enchilada" -- a custom ceremony, vows, and officiating. Throughout the entire process they were responsive, helpful, and fun to work with. They spent a few hours getting to know us as a couple and a few weeks later, sent us a draft of our ceremony and vows. The ceremony and my vows stayed pretty true to how Vow Muse initially wrote them. My husband, however, wrote a pretty different draft because he had the idea to use the letter B as much as possible (the first letter of my name). Through it all, Team Vow Muse was patient, helpful, and committed to making sure we had the exact right words to share on our wedding day. Even after we finalized the text they checked in several times to make sure we still liked it, proactively reached out to confirm final details, and even sent us some helpful public speaking tips to help us practice. On the day of the event, Angie arrived nice and early, and was a calm, joyful presence. The actual ceremony was the best 20 minutes of my life, so we're incredibly grateful to her for doing a terrific job officiating. The goodness didn't stop there -- she dropped off our marriage license for us and sent us some very sweet photos that she snapped before and after the ceremony.
