DO NOT RENT HERE. I moved into Vox on Two in mid-April 2025. Since then, it has been nothing but headaches and frustration. This is a poorly managed apartment community and your rent will simply be wasted money. To be specific, since we have moved in, we have dealt with the following issues: (1) Our HVAC unit was totally rusted out and the unit was hanging on by a single screw, ready to fall at any moment (see photo). We called maintenance and they assessed the issue, telling us it would take a month to fix. We told maintenance that we would like to be informed if there were any updates and that the maintenance team did NOT have permission to enter our apartment while we were gone. When we went on vacation, we were surprised to come home with holes in our walls (see photos) and paint/plaster all over our apartment. It appeared that maintenance did the work without informing us. Worse, they entered our apartment without informing us (which felt like a total violation of our privacy). Also, you don't expect your apartment to be a mess when you come home from a vacation, having to spend hours cleaning up the mess you never anticipated. Poor communication and a violation of our privacy. That's what we got out of this. It took a few weeks and several dozen emails and phone calls but the issue was fixed. We were left wondering: why didn't anyone at the property check the HVAC unit before we moved in, especially considering how bad of a condition it was in? And why was no one held accountable for entering our unit without our permission? (2) When we moved in, one of the three elevators in the building was not working. Over the course of two weeks, two out of three elevators were not working. For multiple days. Imagine trying to haul groceries to your fourth floor apartment when the amenities you pay for are not working. (3) "Guaranteed" parking is anything but guaranteed. We came home after another trip to find that someone had parked in our spot. Because it was a Saturday, there was no one on site to remove the car so that we could park. Keep in mind: we pay $200 a month to park in this spot. Someone was issued a guest parking pass for another spot (which someone ELSE took) so they decided to just take ours. Even though you pay for a spot, and even though there are parking rules, you can never be confident that you will be able to come home and park with ease. We had to park our car 15 minutes away and pay extra just to resolve the issue while we waited for Vox to figure out what happened. The shocking part: this all happened in SIX WEEKS. Do yourself a favor and find some other place to live. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL. (Unless, that is, you want a new apartment/building issue to stress about every week.) read more

Overall, VOX offers an average apartment living experience, not the best value for your money, despite the location and proximity to public transportation. Pros: The apartments and facilities are generally well maintained. You are 10-15 minutes walking to a T stop. there's a park nearby. The maintenance staff is responsive. Cons: if your units face north, be prepared to invest in noise canceling headphones. The noise from traffic is CONSTANT. DAY AND NIGHT. There was not much I could do to dampen it. The water company that VOX uses seems a little shady with random charges. And VOX offers no assistance in this matter. The hallway often smells of smoke even though this is a non smoking building. Communication with the leasing office is hit and miss, depends on who picks up the phone. The lack of communication had led to a dispute I had with management regarding repainting the wall when I moved out. We went back and forth about what I needed to do to avoid a paint charge. I was told to prime the walls, which I did. The office came back with a $300 charge with my prime job, because it was not enough. So I wasted my time and effort when I would be charged either way, and this all could be avoided with better communication from the office. read more

Vox is a nice place to live within a lively community that produces a mixture of yuppies, dog lovers, families and singles just living their lives by trying to make a dollar out of 15 cents. Vox sits right on route 2 and is easily accessible to get into, but leaving during rush hour is a nightmare. If you are leaving the building anywhere between 7:15AM-9: 30/10AM or 4:30-7PM good luck, and even better luck if you need to travel to the left lane. If you don't need to drive, you can walk to Alewife T station, which will take about 10 minutes. There is also a shuttle that's transports from Vox to Alewife that is very convenient. In addition it's a lovely walk to Spy Pond and trails in the area. The community is ideal for dogs and folks that enjoy the outdoors. The building is super secure which is a great thing. You need a key to get into everything- gym, garage, movie theater, clubhouse, zen garden, etc. the reason being is there's a $500 fee for additional amenities, so if you don't pay, you don't play. There are only about 6 or 7 spaces out front for guest parking including one Zipcar space, and if you have an overnight guest you can pay $5/ night for them to park in the garage. There are also many people that park in other people's spaces and leave a scribbled note with a phone number to contact if you need them to move their car. It's super irritating and inconvenient. One of my neighbors had the same problem with people parking over the line and had to crawl in through her trunk. Overall, I think it's a nice and secure place to live. The units are beautiful with washers/dryers, garbage disposals and dishwashers. The maintenance crew is awesome, hard working and super friendly (especially Jimmy). It's on the costly side, but you are paying for having a Cambridge zip code. read more

I would like to start by saying that we just moved out. I am reviewing this based on their advertising that they are a luxury community, and they certainly charge as such. If the price was right and luxury services were not advertised, the rating would be a solid 4 stars, maybe 4.5. Leasing Process: VERY simple and straightforward. Being able to do everything online, including pay rent is great. Renewal Process: They send you a note to set up a meeting with one of the office ladies to go over your renewal. I appreciate that they set up a meeting instead of just slipping you a piece of paper, check yes or no. I was disheartened though, when we had our meeting, to find out certain things. *They would have gladly auto-delivered my packages to my apartment had I asked for them to do so (the fact that I called every.single.time. I got a package was not indicative enough to warrant this offer before renewal) *They would gladly watch my dog if she was not feeling well (she has lupus) either downstairs in the office or stop by my apartment to say hey. ( was not mentioned once before renewal) *The initial carpeting for this place was terrible! It snagged just by looking at it, and they acknowledged and understood that. To the point they are changing the carpets between tenants at no cost. In an effort to stay at Vox and not move, we simply asked that our carpet be replaced, and we would move our things out on our own dime for 7 days. This was our deal breaker. Why pay 3500$ for an apartment with holey carpet?! They refused to replace the carpet for us. They are now replacing the carpet for the new tenants. That really made us feel valued. (note sarcasm) Office - The ladies are quite friendly and always smiling when you walk in. One negative I can think of is whenever I brought what I thought was an issue to their attention, they seemed more defensive than receptive. Example: Once the first storm of the winter hit, we had a ton of ice left over in the back of the building, on the pathway to the T, basically everywhere. I called the office to ask why the guys weren't out clearing the ice on the one day where it was over 40 degrees and everything was slush. The response, "It's been a long winter." No, it had been a long 3 weeks and they had no problem ridding the ice from the front of the building. They did such a poor job and it was so dangerous it's not even funny. I lost track of how many times I called / mentioned this to the staff with nothing getting done. (the ice was preventing doors from closing causing a security issue and still nothing was done) We moved out on 2/28, the place was still COVERED in ice. Front of the building was nice and clean though! Parking: Garage only at 165$ per month and 3-4 visitor spots out front. Overnight visitor parking available in the garage for 5$ a night. Actual Apartment: FANTASTIC!!! The set up was perfect, kitchen and appliances are top notch, huge bathrooms and closets. Superb unit. Maintenance Staff: We have had 5 teams in the year that I lived there. I'm not sure if that says something about the company, Windsor, or about the people they hired but such high turnover does not sit well with me when it's the people that have unrestricted access to my apartment. Amenities: Generally pretty ok. It would have been nice if they made the pool bigger given how many units are in the building but I never had a problem getting a chair. That being said, I would not get in the pool. Too many parents letting their kids run around without proper swimpants (diapers), eating in the pool, etc. Gym is nice, but can get very busy. Main room and movie theater are nice also. Dog park could use some serious maintenance, but it is nice to have. Neighbors: Entitled assholes. We just moved to Melrose / Malden and the attitude of our neighbors highly contributes to our quality of life satisfaction at our new place. People at Vox will literally walk into you because they can't look up from their phone. And be wary when walking your dog, they have no idea what personal space is and think that when your dog is actively going to the bathroom is the right time for an introduction. I know it doesn't sound overwhelmingly positive, but living here really was pretty ok. Close to the T, quick trip into Boston, area in Cambridge was nice, being on the reservation was nice, but otherwise, nothing special. Drop the price by 20-30% to compensate for the above and you have a stellar apartment complex. Keep the price where it is, and it's ripoff central. I hope this feedback is taken as it's meant to be, feedback, and not me hating on the place. I reiterate that if the price was dropped and the word "luxury" wasn't used, this would be a 4 star complex, at minimum. Unfortunately, you need more than granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances to be considered luxury. read more

My favorite place to live in Cambridge! I have beautiful things to say about Vox! They are pet lovers, the pool well maintained, the gym equipment always in shape, also everywhere is super clean! It smells pretty good the whole building! In the back of the building has a lot of nature, very green and places to go for a walk or bike. They also have the best neighbors! I strongly recommend this place! I moved into the property sight unseen, as I made the arrangements over the phone. And I was not disappointed when I arrived from Virginia. Everything that I was promised and offered was there. I lived at Vox for over two years. I moved out only because my new job was out of state. I enjoyed my stay at Vox completely: made great friends, lived happily and secure in a very pleasant atmosphere. Management makes a great effort to create a sense of community. Dave and his team are knowledgeable, serviceable, and go the extra mile to help out. The building has security cameras and it is quite safe. I did not have any incidents while living there. The installations are in top shape. The decor is contemporary and pleasant to the senses. Although there is a busy highway in front of the building, the apartments are quiet and private. I lived in a studio apartment, which was more than enough space for my dog and I. Bathroom, closet, living and bedroom area, as well as the kitchen were well proportionate. Elevators worked all the time. Juan and the cleaning staff were more than serviceable. The common areas were comfortable and inviting. The building has indoor parking which was a blessing. The apartment is less than 1/4 mile from Alewife, which is a really a nice short walk. Great surroundings, that gives you the idea of a countryside in the middle of the city. Deer normally come out at sunset and gives it a peaceful atmosphere. In the winter time, the maintenance team is quick in cleaning the pathways and making access to the roads. Vox has a good size dog park and several dog stations. I was really happy taking my dog Penny to the park. Thorndike park is also just shy if 1/4 mile from the apartment. The apartment also has shuttles that help out during rush hours, with hourly departures in the mornings and returns in the evenings. I was very happy living there. I cannot say anything bad because my stay was as perfect as it could be expected. read more

I have been here one year and so far I'm really happy! The apartments are clean and comfortable, management are very responsive and the facilities are in good shape. It's right on highway 2 but my apartment is at the back of the building and even with the window open I hear almost no noise at all. It's an easy walk to Alewife Station and right next to the Alewife reservation which is very pretty for walking or biking. Maintenance are great and have always responded very quickly to any requests. I've visited the sister property at Windsor Cambridge Park and this complex is nicer in my opinion. read more

There's a lot about this apartment complex that's wonderful -- the kitchen is beautiful -- it has much more space than in the other apartments I've lived in, with granite countertops and an island with a small seating area, and very modern appliances. I would prefer a gas stove to the glass surface electric stove, but at least this is better than the electric stove in the apartment I was in eight years ago, with exposed elements that were hard to clean. For me, the most important thing is that the unit is designed for handicap access, which means, among other things, that the microwave oven is placed at a much lower level, so it can be reached by someone sitting down, or in a wheelchair, and there's space for the wheelchair to maneuver between the stove, the sink, the refrigerator, and the island. The living room is a bit small in this apartment, but I like having a deck, and there are big closets. There are storage units available, and I was able to get one right next to my apartment. Each floor has a trash/recycle room with two chutes, one for each function -- the cutes aren't big, and I will be curious whether the chutes ever become blocked if someone tries to dispose of too big a bag of trash at a time. There is just one key for everything but one's mailbox -- it's an electronic key-shaped piece of black plastic that one needs for the front door (except at the leasing office when it's open), the apartment, the trash/recycle rooms, one's storage unit, the common rooms (including the one from which one can get to the pool), and getting from the garage to the main building (and vice versa). The keys (and locks) can get recoded as needed; somehow they were able to change the code on the lock to my storage unit so that my key worked with it. There's a $100 deposit for each of these coded keys, so losing one would be a big deal. The configuration is interesting -- the apartment is on an inside corner, looking out on an attractive courtyard, and yet I think the units are arranged in such a way that one doesn't seem to be looking directly into someone else's window. The building management and maintenance people are helpful and responsive, and security seems fairly good, though it's a bit unnerving that in the lease there is a statement to the effect that the security is to protect the property, not the tenants (my guess is that this is the general priority in many buildings, but I haven't seen anyone acknowledge it before). The leasing office is open business hours, and will sign for packages (and send email notification that a package is being held; one can request that the package be brought to the apartment door). One of the main reasons this isn't a five star review is the inadequate guest parking and the noise level so far. The parking problem is at least partly because the anti traffic zealots in Cambridge forced the building to have only one parking space per apartment; at least some people don't have cars (it's not a bad walk to Alewife, and there are two daily shuttle busses each way to Alewife), but for those who are older and need helpers, it's not easy to hire helpers who are willing to walk from Alewife. I moved in quite recently, and maybe the noise problem will improve, but there's been music with loud bass thumping as late as 3 a.m. Saturday night, and a lot of the afternoon and evening today (Sunday). I may need a really heavy duty white noise machine. An additional noise problem is that I think they are using an astonishingly loud gas-powered leaf blower (in the Zen Courtyard, yet) -- it's generally for a brief period but shouldn't happen at all. It also seems really inconsiderate that there aren't handicapped parking places near the central elevator, and there isn't a power assist on the very heavy doors between the garage and the apartment area -- these are two modest changes that would make this building much more usable for someone disabled. read more

Apartments are spacious, chic, and the amenities are impeccably maintained. I love that I'm literally one flight of stairs from the common-grills. This place is the real deal. Their website pictures are so representative of the amenities that I actually didn't take pictures myself while touring. They were that spot on. They are not renders. Vox is perfect if you need quick access to a highway, but also want to be within walkable T-distance. I'm a resident physician working at a hospital outside of Boston, and Vox is perfect with its easy access to Rte. 2 West and MA-128. Like Erika S., I too can't say enough about the ladies in the leasing office, especially Nicole DiStefano. She always has a smile on her face and made the whole leasing process go as smoothly as possible. Whether I'm walking through to snag some cookies and coffee, or needing to pick up a package, the leasing ladies make you feel like you are the most important person in the place. My only complaint is about the parking. The visitor lot is tiny and having to park my car at Alewife while my wife (also a doctor) parks in the garage is a real drag when I suddenly get called into the hospital overnight. However, for people who reverse commute in the Boston area and only have one car, this is the best deal hands-down. I hope we can work out something with the parking though. Getting called in is a bit rough. read more

5 Stars because it is perfect for me. Please read though. I moved into the property site unseen. I got a job nearby and they wanted me to start really quick. So I shopped around and this property was brand new and priced competitively. I gave a call in and the leasing office people are really nice. Like out of their way kinda awesome. They know you by name and greet you like you're their favorite. Mel was handling my stuff for my move in and she's very on top of her stuff. I had quite a bit of back and forth getting the leasing paper work signed and set up and she took it in stride and got me settled up. I have a single bedroom. The apartment is really spacious. The layout is great. Usually apartments partition off the kitchen area but here they chose to go with a nice island which is both really useful and opens up the area. It doubles as an eating space too which saves on getting a dining table. My apartment faces towards the back away from the road and I hear nothing but birds. Occasionally I'll hear the commuter rail in the distance but other than that it's super peaceful. I think my apartment has neighbors only on one side too and they're super quiet or the sound proofing is amazing because I haven't heard a thing from them. The gym is really nice here. Most managed properties (I've lived in a few) put the gym in a room with no windows. Here the gym is in a room with windows all around near the front door. You see people. You see outside. It's amazing to work out with real sunlight. And apparently there is an outdoor gym area too. I haven't explored all the amenities, this place just has a lot going on. One of the really big things for me is having a washer and dryer in unit and they have a solid set up here. My washer and dryer is in my bathroom with a door that can be closed to keep the sound at a minimum. The bathroom is really big too. The tubs are wide soak tubs so you can take relaxing baths in them. The windows are not enormous but they easily light up the room. Because there building is oriented in such a way that there is no direct sunlight, you don't huge shafts of light in your apartment overheating it. It's perfect really. Location is amazing if you're commuting into the city. I hardly drive my car ever. The T is a short walk away and it's through the nature reserve in the back. I love it. Walking to the T in the morning is therapeutic and relaxing. Nearby is Stop and Shop, Whole Foods, and Trader Joe's. The fresh pond mall has basically everything you'd need. Cons (These aren't super harsh) - The garage opens onto route 2. Traffic can get nuts during rush hour and there isn't a direct way to get here. You have to loop around onto route two coming towards Boston. - The tub seems to pick up residue very quickly. I have to scrub every other day to keep foot prints from showing up. - Wish the windows were bigger. - Wish the pool was bigger. - Very little visitor parking. - With everything being "green", toilets won't flush with much force. And showers are on the weaker side of pressure. This place is close to perfect. I have no complaints and really love it here. Definitely at least worth checking out before you make your decision. read more

My boyfriend and I moved to the east coast from California about two years ago. Finding a place and signing the lease, sight unseen, was the only option for us at the time. After many failed attempts at various places listed on CL, and even with the help of a local friend, we still weren't able to secure a lease as landlords just didn't want to deal with out-of-towners. Enter Vox on Two. I did find them on CL but that's where the experience diverges from the rest. I was immediately met with very friendly leasing managers who answered all of my (countless) questions and who assured me that completing this process over the phone and via email was not a problem and was actually done all the time as they have many international tenants. Huge weight: lifted. The location was right for us, the rent wasn't bad (especially compared to other options in Cambridge that were not brand new and did not come with a signing bonus and one month of free rent), and we basically knew what to expect when walking in the door. Rebecca, our initial contact, even indulged my request for photos and video of the actual unit we'd be moving into. Prior to this experience, I'd developed a distrust of brokers as the photos of apartments I'd find on CL were definitely not representative of what the actual place looked like (thank you, local friend, for your help with that). Knowing that the place was new, and yes, a bit of a "cookie-cutter" type, was actually great for us. We didn't want any surprises after uprooting our lives and starting over in a brand new city. Walking into Vox on Two on that first day was like walking into a big, safe hug, strange as that may sound. We'd spent a week on the road with all of our belongings in tow and it was so good to be met with kind people and our nice, clean new home. We liked living there so much we decided to stick around for year 2 and moved from the 1st floor to the 4th. At the time, Kaitlyn helped us find another studio in the building, worked with us on the terms and generally made the whole process very smooth. The "upgrade" really improved our quality of life. It felt like we were moving up to the penthouse, with views of treetops now instead of looking into the hotel next door. I can confidently say it was the easiest move of my life. We loved the safety and security of the place, having someone accessible to talk to if there were any issues, and having a community of people around that you could get to know, if you wished. The lovely leasing managers were always available to help with any issues that arose, manage your mail deliveries, and provide a generally welcoming atmosphere. Events are always being planned, there are usually treats in the lobby, and there is no snow to shovel in the winter. It was a pretty sweet couple of years! We decided to leave because, after two years of living at the end of the red line, we really needed to feel more connected to the city and to be within (very short) walking distance to things like coffee shops, restaurants, etc. Once the decision was made to move, Nicole, especially, was extremely helpful and just generally awesome during our transition out. It would not have gone half as well without her (that's on me mostly because I personally find moving very stressful) and we remain very thankful to her to this day. My boyfriend and I have lived here since October and have loved every minute of it. The apartment is beautiful and we are excited for it to warm up so we can enjoy the great outdoor space and free bike rentals that vox offers. Although Vox does sit in route two there is a way to loop behind the building and avoid most of the traffic if you are commuting out of the city. We both find its a very easy commute to Waltham and Newton. You hit way less traffic then if you lived on the other side of alewife station. All the other residents seem really nice and we never hear noise from anyone who lives around us. And the ladies who work the front desk are great! They are always happy and get to know everyone's names! They also bake super yummy cookies and plan fun events. What could be better then that? read more

Best Apartment in Cambridge Area Hands down!!! The people are very friendly and will go out of their way to make you feel at home! They also ensure safety at all times and call you if they need to access your apt or their is a delivery for you! I am extremely happy with my decision to live here! The employees think of everything to make you your life easy and hassle free. Being a young professional and traveling, I often have packages being delivered when I am not there and they will accept/sign for the packages and even delivery them to you apt and put them inside the apt if need be. They also have a shuttle to the T station if you are not able to use the access path behind the apt complex! They have partner with a dry cleaning service that will pick up your dry cleaning if need be as well. They have had two resident activities where they provide food and beverages for the residents!! I simply cannot express how completely thrilled I am to be living at the Vox on Two, but I will try! Coming from Florida, I was accustomed to have a certain apartment lifestyle that is so difficult to find in the metro Boston area. Vox is brand new facility with extra-large walk-in closets; beautiful kitchen; washer/dryer; underground parking; dry clean delivery; electronic entry system; spotless gym with fabulous equipment; ginormous soak bathtubs and on-site maintenance workers that seem to go above and beyond in every way to keep it spotless and well preserved. But the best asset of this property is by far the management/concierge staff that truly make your home life extraordinary! Rebecca, Nicole and Kaitlyn are so personable, professional and have a phenomenal way to make you feel extra special. Location is spot on! It is convenient to the T and all the essential provisions you might need, especially Trader Joe's. Biking, walking and running around the area whether the Alewife Preservation or Fresh Pond is a beautiful pleasure. I know the biggest complaint is the parking, but that is just an evil of living in Cambridge. My advice - check out the rest and you will settle on the best...Vox! read more

Overpriced, landscaping is awful, and buyer beware if you own a vehicle. I strongly suggest that you drive there during the hours of 8am to 10 AM, or from 5PM to 7 PM. Its Manhattan style traffic jams. Route 2 South is 20 minutes to go the last 1/2 mile to get into the drive and. and driving from Fresh Pond to the Vox at 6Pm is 30 minutes and its only a mile away. read more

I recently moved out of the VOX on Two apartments 7-months before my lease expired on unit 225 because of a myriad of problems. Not the least of which was that my kitchen sink backed up three times with sewer water. (Once I had to spend the night at a hotel because the place smelled so bad!) But the biggest problem(s) I had was the building having absolutely NO sound insulation between floors and even in the walls between apartments. Right under 225 is the property's movie room which had to be essentially closed down because the noise coming up thru the floor was so bad - especially the BASS! Even worse was the noise coming off of the multi-purpose room's permanently installed sound system (next to the movie room). They had to shut that system down while not closing the room down entirely. And even worse than that was the noise coming from the apartment above me. When they rented that unit out and the wife, dog and infant children arrived about a month later I would not again be able to sleep beyond 6:30 AM on ANY day, weekends included, because of all the noise that came screaming through the ceiling of my unit until I moved out. On top of that, between 5 & 8 PM, I had to essentially vacate the premises - again because of all the noise coming from up stairs. The little one(s) seemed to like to incessantly do wind sprints with the dog until they were put to bed! (There were other noise issues, involving the dog - other than barking, but you get the idea!) To really put all the noise problems into perspective, the previous dissertation is based on what I was able to hear, and to the degree I was able to hear it WITHOUT MY HEARING AIDS ON!!!! I have about 50% of the hearing capability of a normal person so I can only imagine what the true level of the problem would be for a person with regular hearing. Despite the significance of the above mentioned problems, when it came to the property's management or owners offering any true assistance to me to rectify the obviously unbearable situation I was in - they did nothing! While they made a unit available on the top floor (conditions to follow) they refused to offer me any compensation for the expense I was to incur to move up there. Nor did they offer me any sort of a discount for all the problems and inconveniences I incurred. AND what really toasted me about this whole thing was that they were not going to let me move into the other unit without signing a new 12-month lease! So be warned everybody! While the building looks very nice from the street and throughout the first floor - there are MAJOR issues waiting any unsuspecting renter above the ground floor! read more

Lived at Vox on two for about 1.5 years, and I can't say enough nice things about it. Every time I had an issue with the apartment the maintenance staff would be there in 24 hours or less to fix any problems. Despite my apartment facing route 2, I hardly ever heard the highway noise! I also never heard from my neighbors (and they never heard me as far as I could tell). The 10 minute walk to Alewife + Bike Storage were all nice things to get me around the Boston area. Everyone I met at the front desk were extremely friendly and helpful. Nicole is awesome to work with! I would move back there in a heartbeat. read more
