    Bannock and Beans

The is worth a planned stop when driving north or south on Hwy 17. Restaurant is features homemade diner food and friendly service. Bannock and Beans was a perfect portion for a homey and filling dinner. Burgers good, fries, cheese and gravy (poutine) is what you want as a decadent side. And of course, the homemade ice cream and homemade Apple Fritters next door. There are no better Apple Fritters in the province! No joke. Voyageur shouldn't just be a planned stop, it should be a destination.

Some locals recommended that we eat here if we were in the area. It is located across the street from Lake superior. There is a lodge adjacent to it. The restaurant has been around for a long time and it is a locals favorite. It is really an historic experience to eat here. The menu has a lot of local and comfort food items yet well-made. The three sisters soup is hearty and tasty. Trappers Jacques' Chili is thick and flavorful. The Whitefish dinner Jack's style was plenty and very good whitefish in a light panko breading. The Tourtiere was a tasty and hearty meat pie with several side items that make for a lot of food. The homemade desserts were as good as the entrees were: their famous and tasty apple fritters, the flavorful butter tarts, the thick cherry cheesecake and the delicious blueberry crisp with ice cream. What a feast!!!

    Sweet Canadian decor!!

We stumbled onto this absolute gem right across from our hotel, and it exceeded every expectation. We were a family of six, so we waited about 20 minutes for a table, and it was completely worth it. Once seated, our server was warm, attentive, and made us feel right at home. We tried a bit of everything: hamburgers, fish tacos, carrot cake, and tiramisu, and every single dish delivered. The rustic, homey atmosphere just added to the charm. If you're ever passing through Paradise, do yourself a favor and stop in. This place is a hidden gem worth the trip!

It recommended one business that looks like it has been out of business for many years and then this place. I had high hopes when we walked in as it's a very cool ambience, a really nice bar area As you can see from the pictures from the menu, the majority of the foods here are fried. I did ask if there was a way to get the white fish broiled grilled or baked and that was a hard 'no'. I also asked if I could get the hot honey sandwich grilled instead of fried, and that was a no as well. Unfortunately, I cannot eat fried foods so I decided to go with the pulled pork option since they had a really nice looking barbecue station outback. The food arrived very quickly, service is very friendly I did take one bite of my husband's white fish and it was tasty- so if you can eat fried foods, this is the way to go My pulled pork, however, tasted like a bottle of salt was dumped on it. I tried three or four bites. I could not eat it. Yes, I did let them know and she offered to bring something else, but there really wasn't anything else that I could comfortably eat. She did remove it from our bill, which I appreciated. I will say, this is a very rare occurrence for me to simply not eat something that was brought to me, but it was that bad. They do charge a 3% up charge for credit card so bring your cash Four stars is for the whitefish and the service

All of the food was fantastic- you won't be disappointed but here are my tips: Make a REZ! You'll need a rez unless you're taking your chances on the bar seating (small inside bar seating- more outside but weather dependent) We booked a high top for two and sat outside looking at the water (request that!) Ask for the vegetarian menu when they seat you, even if you aren't strictly a vegetarian bcuz you'll have more options- I was about to cobble together a meal (I'm veg) from the shared plates/apps of vegetables when my husband asked if they had vegetarian meals- those are offered in the dessert menu for some reason and not offered upon seating- so happy he asked bcuz the ramp pasta was AMAZING I would've been so disappointed when the dessert menu arrived afterwards to learn I could've had a large plate Cocktails were great- Purple Rain is all you need! If carrots and zucchini apps are offered, get them both and a focaccia and you'll have extra bread spread for the veggies too Most ppl seemed to be ordering the bison burger but my husband went for the steak- they do not ask you how you want it cooked but present it cooked to perfection so trust them All desserts looked good- we split the butterscotch budino, which was awesome but very overwhelmed by the heavy toffee topping, which was delicious as well- like two desserts in one Brook, our server, is absolutely the cutest & friendliest & makes you want to come back!
