Since he was recommended to my girlfriend of the time by owner Phil's next door but one neighbour, I've happily recommended him to other people. And they have done the same. At the time of writing in Summer 2012 they are running a seasonal promotion where they are offering a pre-holiday multi-point vehicle safety check. She keeps the boys in the garage in check and has fantastic customer service skills. She remembers everyone's name when they come in and if I have had to wait before seeing her, she is alway apologetic. In fact, the noticeboard in the office is full of letters saying thank you and commending the place and the excellent customer service. The lads who work in the garage are very nice too. My car has never needed to stay over night and I usually get it back at the end of the day if I have booked it in early in the morning. Once, my car needed quite a lot doing to it, but they phoned me before they went ahead with it as it was going to be pricey and wanted to ensure I still wanted to go through with it. I thought that this was really professional and fair. They also always offer to give me a lift back home, which is not too far away, which is very kind too. I like this place as the staff are brilliant and they are professional and treat my car well. Very trustworthy and helpful people.

My first impression was that Paul was of a professional manner and I was grateful he was offering of assistance on a bank holiday weekend. However, when the vehicle was returned after having a clutch and gearbox replacement it was highly apparent something wasn't right. Not only was there an high-pitched squeal from under the bonnet but also driving only 50 metres down the road I discovered the brake's were completely unsafe. Paul was highly uncooperative and immediately defensive when I informed him of the issues I had. Working away for long periods of time, I had no option but to pay for another mobile mechanic to diagnose the fault and it could be seen that the brake servo pipe was snapped (accidentally I presume as it is flimsy, but still costly! And very obvious when driving) and that neither hose on the air intake manifold has been reattached correctly. Cost to make the car roadworthy again were to the tune of £120 (£40 part, £80 labour). Also, gear stick was attached wrong way round.

But don't be put off, especially if you're female. They have done every kind of job possible on our car from MOT's to punctures to replacing light bulbs. As they're small, you have to book your car in for the MOT, but for other smaller jobs I've just turned up and they've sorted them for me there and then. The prices are good value and they've given me great advice on getting hold of spare parts to save me money (my car's French and the French love to make you spend a fortune if they can.) Don't expect fancy printed reports with details of your service etc, but I've never had any concerns and you can't say fairer than that. Also, the address is a touch confusing, the actual garage is on May Lane, just round the corner.

The livery on the side of the building has a quaint 1950s feel to it, which I always find rather welcoming, for some reason. They have a decent selection of cars available, which are parked out on the street during their opening hours. Their window display also has a whiteboard showing their full stock list. Their repair and MOT centre does a brisk trade. As I have a pretty old car I have trouble with it from time-to-time and I always ask the fellas there to take a look. Most of the time they simply offer advice (such as the time my wife left the car without petrol in it.....rather embarrassing!) but on the odd occasions they have done actual work on the car they have always been reasonable in their estimates and prices.
