I loved this hotel. The location is fabulous and the staff is very professional and friendly. I'm Bonvoy Platinum and I used my suite night award. The room was well appointed, with amazing views. Since it's no longer SPG, I haven't found the same customer service in the US but in this hotel, it was pretty amazing. The manager came and welcome me by name, offered a drink at the bar until my room was ready, walked me to the elevator. It was unreal. Again, in the US it's almost no difference the way I've been treated especially since Marriott took over. I was about to give up on it but I might keep points only for trips in Europe. We had diner a Cafe de la Paix, it was a fabulous experience. The outdoor experience is a scratch for a few months as they are renovating. read more

W Paris Opera is really centrally located. We come to Paris every year and been staying at different areas in Paris, but the Opera area is my favorite. It is close 3 minute walk to the shopping area, short 10 minute walk to the Lovre. Service here is prompt. The marvelous suites are nice but the spectacular rooms are on the smaller size but functional - hey it is Paris! I recommend the W Paris. Noted some 1 star review about not able to check in at 8:30am after a long flight. Ok. 8:30am. :-) also saw review about honeymooners checked in to an upgraded suite but expected more space. This is Paris, people! Ran by some high energy younger staff, everyone here are doers, want more coffee capsules, ordered in the app, delivered to room within minutes. Want extra wine glasses, same fast delivery. Changed reservation in the app from 2 twin beds to a queen bed, done! Loved it. read more

After a disastrous hotel experience upon landing... my sis (thank goodness to my brother-in-law) was able to book a room here through their SPG points. Friendly and uhm... HOT bell boys... and I mean... H.O.T.... and that's all it took for our horrible day to turn it all around. The room was spacious... really modern and apparently the hotel is so new that it just opened in February 2012. Awesome shower... cool amenities... and they have EPSN "America" so I was able to watch some MLBs. Oh and the plus side... it didn't smell like SMOKE ... something we terribly needed and was glad that we weren't surrounded by. Definitely check it out folks... it was comfy / spacious / definitely LOTS of eye candy!!! read more

5/5 experience at the W Paris Opéra. I'm honestly confused why the yelp rating isn't higher. We booked a regular room at the W for a couple days during our visit to France. The staff were exceptionally helpful, kind, and resourceful. Each spoke English well and made the entire stay enjoyable. Honestly I didn't have a single negative experience. The room was very large, comfortable, and the views were amazing. Despite looking directly into the Opera the window kept out all city noise (it was eerily good). The hotel is in an epic, older building (as it seems almost all of Parisian hotels are) and part of the buildings space is occupied by the Apple Store. Despite the obvious age of the exterior, the rooms and interior are all very modern. It feels like a W. Admittedly, the restaurant and bar are a little small but the food quality was great. I paid for the breakfast option with the room and wasn't disappointed with the coffee, espresso, made-to-order, or buffet options. As someone who spent more than a couple hours searching for quality hotels in Paris, I can confirm this is an excellent choice. read more

Visit Date: March 14, 2015 to March 22, 2015 Hubby and I stayed here on our first European vacation. The hotel was terrific. Our room was great, I believe we stayed in a WOW room which doesn't have a view of the Paris Opera house but it was still amazing because every time we stepped outside we were able to see the Opera House. I'm obsessed with Phantom of the Opera and the Paris Opera house so it was important to me to be staying in a hotel near the opera house and this hotel was pretty nice. The concierge was very helpful. They helped us book a reservation for a Louvre tour we wanted to take and they helped us get tickets to Le Bal Des Vampires when I found out it was playing when we got there. They even bought a pair of tweezers to our room for me to pluck my eyebrows because they got hairy on our vacation. It was very expensive but they also took care of sending our souvenirs back home so we didn't even have to go to the post office to send them out. My one issue was the room service one morning. We got room service twice and the first time it was terrific but the second time the food wasn't too great. This might not be the fault of the hotel though it could be the chef at Coquette Restaurant, I'm guessing the chef prepared the room service orders. If you want to come to Paris and stay by the Paris Opera house and you can afford a 5 star hotel I would say this is definitely the place to be at, our stay here was very enjoyable and if I could afford it in the future I would stay with them again if we ever get to go back to Paris. We used the free WiFi, supposedly it was only available in the lounge but we were able to connect to it from our rooms and it was pretty decent. You can pay for higher speed access in your rooms but we didn't need to. Hubby says the place reminded him of the fifth element he loved it! read more

I am reviewing the Restaurant Coquette which is located on the ground floor of the hotel. We arrived for a group dinner and we were given a nice hip table that accommodated us comfortably. We ordered several appetizers, all of which appeared simultaneously and presented in such a stylistic way that we immediately knew we were in creative French Cuisine territory. The appetizers included tofu on a bed of noodles and vegetables, seared salmon nuggets and several other tasty and well-presented items. The salmon had the deep red color and was seared on the outside but raw inside, dressed with some citric sauce that enhanced the high quality of the salmon and drew out the taste. A great way to start! The tofu was lightly grilled and the noodles were dressed in a light soy sauce addend some depth to the generally more plain tofu. A nice combination of the crunch from the vegetables and the softness of the noodles and tofu. Entrees varied from steak to fillet of sea bass to risotto (4 choices) to the traditional 'hamburger a-la- France'....I will explain. All the dishes were nicely presented and the quality of the ingredients was evident. So was the presentation, and the taste matched everything else and exceeded it in most cases. The fish was a fillet of sea bass on bok choi with a saffron white wine sauce. The fish was flaky and was steamed so beautifully in the clay pot it was presented in that it literally melted in your mouth. The bok choi was crunchy and the sauce, although a little salty was not overpoweringly so... Overall a phenomenal dish with complex flavors and textures, and pleasing to the eye as well. The risotto was devoured and was of a high quality...I did not taste that. The steak was OK....it was cooked in a mist of mesquite but the it did not develop the flavors sufficiently and was more bland than expected - even with salt, the taste could not be drawn out. Somewhat of a disappointment. The burger was presented in loaf of bread and basically the outer ring of the loaf is removed to reveal a mega sized Texas style burger, on gourmet bread and with dynamite taste....but very large... An overall pleasant experience, attentive staff and a beautiful chic setting. Definitely worth a visit. read more

Spent one night here in June 2019. Observations: Modern, boutique accommodation in an exceptional location. Next to the Opera, one block from Galeries Lafayette, RER Opera bus to Charles De Gaulle (CDG), and Chausee L'enfant subway entrance. Staff very helpful. Rooms are small, modern and comfortable; I would stay here again. Great way to spend an evening in this area: an hour shopping at Galeries Lafayette, eat at nearby Au Petit Riche, a notable brasserie, and walk 15 min south to the Louvre after dinner to catch a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower. Tips: #1. The airport bus ticket machine at the Opera stop on Rue Scribe takes credit cards, you do not need euros. Good to know at the end of your trip when cash is running low. Fare is 12 euro, buses run every 20 min. (vs. 100 euro cab ride.) #2. It takes about an hour and fifteen minutes to get to Charles De Gaulle in traffic; for a 10:15AM flight you'll want to catch the 7:00 AM bus.) There are many terminals at CDG spread far apart; make sure you know which one you are heading to. #3 If you are heading south to Orly airport, an Uber ride from here to there costs 40 Euro. There is no train service to Orly. read more

Just checked in at 10 pm with a reservation for two rooms, both for five nights. And seeing this place, we will be leaving in the morning. The W Paris is not up to either the W brand name or the SPG standard. From the ridiculously small triangular lobby, to decor designed by someone who must have never been to any other functional hotel in the world, to the absurdity of no light in a toilet room of the bathroom- which is painted entirely black - this place is mess. (BEST quote of weekend: "The logistics of seeing where you are peeing - for a guy - in a tiny black room, should not be the primary concern when you are in your own hotel room. Don't worry, I stood sideways.") The shower is the width of a pillow if you can get it to turn on without wrapping a washcloth around the mechanism to get it to turn, and the front face of our sink cabinet is missing. Black painted walls and ceiling make the small room even more claustrophobic. Bizarre. Further, the images of sexual bondage and opium on the pillows and bed make for an uncomfortable family experience. Very. Add the issues we had with late night room service delivering a sandwich with only a fraction of the ingredients listed on the menu, a meager buffet breakfast with cold quiche and a stale croissant for 39 Euros, and it's a zero. Time to locate another hotel. Which we have, and at a better price for more luxury. Interesting that when we spoke to the staff at the W, they mentioned they are only at 40% occupancy, but no one cared that we were leaving disappointed - or that they were seeing several thousand euros of lost revenue walk out the door. Guess SPG being in the process of being sold is taking its toll. read more

Upscale, Young and hip. Everything is done right as is always the case with W Hotels. Fewer and smaller rooms than most W Hotels, but this is normal for any hotel in Paris. Service is excellent. We stayed here 4 nights at the start of our France trip and the last 4 nights of our trip. First 4 nights were just ok. My biggest complaint was that our room was so tiny it felt clausterphobic. Bliss products are a plus! The location is in the Opera section so it's walkable to most places. And of course the metro is right there too. Last 4 nights were AMAZING! We were upgraded to a suite which was HUMONGOUS. Size is everything, LOL. The concierge was very helpful. There's a couple bars right across the street with reasonable wine prices so it's a great option if you need a midnight drink =) read more

We had a wonderful stay in the W Paris Opera - the location simply cannot be beat!! It was walking distance to Galleries Lafayette, amazing shopping, the Madeleine area and the Metro most importantly. We have stayed in Europe/Paris a number of times and know that the rooms can be cramped....we booked a cozy room but upon arrival, they upgraded us to a WOW Spectacular room which was REALLY nice. It had a dead on view of the Opera! The size of the room was bigger than the cozy room so I was very happy about that. We were given a complimentary breakfast buffet every morning and it was very nice and generous (yes other Starwood/Marriott hotels have larger buffets but this is a quaint boutique type hotel) it had everything you would need to start your day. It was never super busy and the tables were nicely spread out. Waitstaff were amazingly friendly. When we were unpacking, they sent a very nice welcome gift as Starwood Lifetime Platinum guests. Great property, amazing location, top notch concierge! Upgraded us to the wow suite. It was wow! Recommended and got us a Christmas dinner reservation at Laperouse, a 200 year old restaurant with a private dinning room. Amazing experience! Called ahead of time to make reservations at various restaurants and ordered a dozen of roses to be delivered on Christmas morning for my gf. Without any reminder.. Even I had almost forgotten myself, a dozen of beautiful long stem roses showed up first thing Christmas morning just as I asked. All in all an amazing experience. Highly recommend it. Disclaimer: What follows could be titled "First World Problems" We called this little hotel our home for a few days just before Christmas. If you're going to stay anywhere around the Opera or Louvre, etc... you're going to pay through the nose for the hotel, which we did. If we stayed more than a couple of days we would have gotten something a little outside of town and Metro'd in. But it's hard to imagine a non-$$$ hotel in the 5th arr being anything better than seedy, so as they say the three magic words are "location, location, location..." It's a nice place, as one should expect. The staff is lovely and the training must be very good here. But there was one weird thing--a total lack of focus to details. We ordered both at the restaurant and from the front desk several times, and not once was the order produced correctly. Sometimes it took two or three attempts to get what we wanted (just the right bottle of water and espresso, please!) Not sure why this was, since everyone was incredibly nice and helpful and understanding of our n00bness. Meanwhile, the breakfast buffet was great (not cheap though--take advantage of the SPG discount if you can). The room was clean and pretty modern--not spacious, but if you want a lot of square feet, don't stay in Paris! And again, the location can't be beat, so if you have the Euros and like to walk and tour this magnificent city, you would do a lot worse than the W. read more

I'm going to be completely honest. I was less than satisfied with my hotel experience. The rooms were very small. Our room also had a very interesting open concept bathroom, the mirror and entire bathroom was basically in the middle of our room. The mirror also rotated to move out of the way, so if you were on the bed, you had a direct view to the toilet. Although the rooms were not great, the service was pretty good. This hotel has a "whatever, wherever" policy, and for the most part I felt like they fulfilled that. But there were a few times that we called for something like a bathrobe and it took them four hours to get them to us. Also A few days we cake back to the room and it was about 4:00 pm, and they hadn't cleaned our rooms yet. Overall, this hotel was not quite what I was hoping for when I booked it. read more

This is the most pathetic and atrocious excuse for a hotel. We arrived in Paris at 8:30am from Canada, being on a very long and tiring flight, there was nothing more we wanted then to take a nap and shower, and start our day. Instead, the hotel checked us in way past 3:30pm. We spent our entire day in the "lounge" and wasted a full day in Paris. I am absolutely heartbroken to be wasting my day here. Additionally, we had complained about the 6+ hour wait and asked if we could have lunch on the house considering the circumstances. At first they said yes, but only from their snack menu. After we ordered, a women from reception came to tell us that our food is not complimentary. We said we were told it would be otherwise we would have never ordered it. After making more complaints, they apologized for the "misunderstanding" and that the snacks would be free. Lucky us. I have literally received better service at budget Inns then at this 650 EURO / night "hotel". This is a circus, not a hotel. During our 6 hour wait in the lounge we met and witnessed many other unhappy guests who were also dealing with a multitude of issues. So sad and terrible. read more

My husband & I are staying at the W hotel & love every amenity except for the w lounge. The bartender & wait staff are so preoccupied with their iPhones & talking with each other than actually providing good service. Several staff members have smirked when we've arrived & ordered drinks. We also arrived at the lounge around 1am & we told they closed in 10 minutes, even though 2am closing time is listed on the website. The staff is so worried about leaving early, instead of providing great service until closing that it makes our stay at the w disappointing. Also, we ordered dinner while in the lounge last night & we both ordered the sirloin steak. Each steak was completely different size & one was riddled with grissle that was inedible. Disappointing experience across the board. read more

This hotel charges big boy prices but provides adolescent service. For $400 a night, one receives a comfortable quiet room, bed, great TV, opulent view, and very nice and professional concierge and front desk staff. The problem is the housekeeping service. The dirty glasses were consistently not removed nor replaced. iPhone 5 does not play with adapter through the stereo system. Stingy replacement of toiletries(remember $400 a night). Sink bar soap not replaced even after 7 days. Lounge lacked any energy and was dead. Restaurant closed for August. This clearly is a management problem. I would suggest paying for a less expensive hotel than this expensive hotel without the service to match their big girl prices. I usually spend money in a hotel but the W Opéra Paris doesn't understand how to get the paper. read more

We ended up making a trip to Paris before heading back to the states for our honeymoon. I received a notification about 5 days prior that I received the platinum upgrade to a suite so that was good news and I was hoping we could get something on the top floor. We arrived and unfortunately it wasn't the top floor. The W is situated at a convenient location where you can jump on the metro and be anywhere within the city in minutes. You could walk around but we found ourselves just taking the train as it was easier and faster. I've been to a few W's so I wasn't overly impressed as the design was something that was expected but I will say that because this was "Paris" I did expect it to be a little bit bigger and not fighting for space. I wanted it to be the "Grand W Paris" - so although it wasn't a Grand Palais of sorts it was nice and comfortable. Upon arrival we were checked in quickly while people helped us with our bags. This is the first time I didn't ask for points for our platinum amenity - why you ask -- well I looked at our complimentary breakfast and it said 64 Euros. I'm sure you can imagine what went through my mind but needless to say, there was no way I was going to pay for that. The "Paris" name can only take you so far with me. And...it was worth the convenience, but the quality wasn't that great. Oh well. The room was small. It was a suite, but it was small. I can only imagine what a traditional room looks like. If you're going for the traditional room - I'd find somewhere else as you could get a nice apartment for the price of 2 nights here. The view we had overlooked the street and we could see what an office building was doing. One problem we really had was with the motion sensors in our room. They would not work in our living room and we asked to get this looked at. The guy came up speaking absolutely no english (which I expected) and he said that it was a motion sensor. We got that much - we just wanted it fixed. We told him we'd deal with it tomorrow. Well, same problem happened again and we called the whatever, whenever service, and they are still learning english as well. The phone was passed onto the front desk who said she would have someone look into it tomorrow. Well, that would be the last night we were there and with a 7am flight that was the least of our concerns. The bathroom was modern but wasn't practical. I understand the W concept but this was just ridiculous. Why are my contact solution, contact case, toothbrush and toothpaste the only items that I could sit on the shelf?? This meant frequently going back in the other room to get my hairspray, hair gel, comb, lotion, etc. Which ultimately meant my husband had no space...at all. I'm a woman, and while I don't need a huge amount of space - I need a little bit more than that. It's the first of W's that I've seen that has had that problem. Overall I wasn't in awe of this W and the 3 stars shows it. Out of the W's that I've been to this "Paris" location was the most 'average' I've been to. read more

The worst experience I have ever had at a W Hotel. I get to the hotel & can't even get in the front door due to riots & protest going on at the hotel. We finally find a way in the back with no help from the hotel. The manager comes out & tells us sorry for the mess we will take extra care of you, as the protesters are throwing trash in the front doors at the guest. The noise is so loud you can't even hear anything. Then the manager lets the front desk staff take 3 other people in front of us. Then does nothing about it. I complain to the manage & he tells me that the in negotiations with the rioters & protesters, but that he was not going to do anything about it Bc it's not his doings & is out of his hands. That is not what you tell a guest at a hotel like the W. The manager & staff may be ok as long as there's no problem. But if you have a problem there going to treat you like dirt. It's sad to go to pay the prices that they change & be treated like this. There are much better hotels in Paris. I have stayed at many SPG properties & I am a gold member. I know what to expect from this brand & the W Paris is far from it. read more

I stayed at this hotel for 9 nights when I was in Paris on a business trip and I have to say I had a great stay. Granted, I didn't have to foot the bill out of my own pocket (which was exorbitant), but as far as the room goes, it was a great room. The showers are great and have great water pressure and the bed is really comfortable. It was a quiet hotel so I never had trouble sleeping. The location of this hotel is prime. It's literally right next to the Galeries Lafayette and it's walking distance to the Lourve. I would also recommend touring the old Opera house. The rooms are so exquisite. I could have laid in that long hall for hours and just stared at the ceiling. If I could afford it, I would definitely stay here again. The only gripe I have is that I had some laundry sent out on Saturday. They automatically sent it back on Sunday for a double charge instead of asking me to clarify when I needed the items by. (I didn't need them until Monday since I was staying for so many days). Good thing I didn't have to personally pay for that either. read more

Great and very convenient location first and foremost: in the very center, right next to Opera itself, boulevard Haussmann with its grand department stores, cafes, restaurants, Opera avenue, few steps from Louvre, Seine river etc. Inside it's prevalent pretentious avant-garde design. Room was elegantly and chic decorated, very clear, with some interesting artwork and pretty specious for European standards... The bathroom pretty large with a window, amenities from Bliss skincare. Mattress very comfy and cozy. Minibar. No tea or coffee maker. Still, I would reserve a suite next time if decide to go there. But taking into consideration that it's Paris - there are a lot of other options to stay around. Breakfast is not included in the standard rate but you can enjoy it at the hotel restaurant downstairs. Or go to any café in the neighborhood before your tour or a romantic stroll around the city. Fitness center looked pretty small to me. But there are few cardios, strength machine and weights. Better I'd recommend a beautiful and peaceful run along the river Seine, one of the most splendid views in the whole world for me along the way. No SPA or pool. There is concierge at your disposal to make dinner reservations or any other requests. Complimentary high speed Wi-Fi is in the lobby. read more

The hotel, view and room were all impeccable. However, the customer service lacked extremely, not including the bell hops. The concierge especially was extremely unprofessional and lacking in customer service. We were referred to a restaurant that was very poorly run, had terrible food and lacked in management. Upon returning to the hotel we let the concierge know out of courtesy how our experience was and that he might not want to make this recommendation to any other guests. He was beyond offended and took this personally. From this point on he would no longer give us directions, recommendations, or any help at all during our trip. Being from out of town, this put a huge wrench in our planning. He was extremely rude, offensive and overrated. After enduring this treatment each day/night we then had to retreat to our room with the beautiful view of the Opera. DO NOT book your stay here during a weekend. The hotel does not let you know that there are all night parties in the street and in front of the opera during the weekends. Loud music plays continuously until 4 am in the morning making it impossible to get any sleep. In addition to these major issues, I have had to ask the hotel 3 times for a correct PDF of my receipt that I still have not yet received. After alerting the manager during our departure of what we faced during our entire trip she was unapologetic and her only solution was that she would talk to the concierge to retrieve his side of the story. Excuse me? His side of the story? 4 of your guests just told you he was continuously rude to us and that is all you have to say? Unacceptable. Especially because I have stayed at many W hotel location in the United States and have always been EXTREMELY satisfied. This was a huge let down and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. read more
