All of the DJs are volunteers and work on their own free time, without pay. I visited the studio last week during their radiothon and was pleasantly surprised with the shows J-Magic's Jambalaya (Where the Guitar is the Star) and Spoonful of Blues. Their commitment to providing free radio (ie free of commercials/ads) is really awesome and they are even available streaming online at www.valleyfreeradio.org. I listen on Tuesday nights, when the above mentioned programs are airing. I hope that VFR continues to be on the airwaves for years to come.

Lots of fascinating history of food and the science of food. Then we found a host of alternative music shows (Prog-Bog "music so progressive it hasn't been invented yet"); Mudcat Blues and Strictly Vinyl. We listen while we work in the garden or cook.
