This is a very affordable dining spot. We had the evening breakfast skillet Eggs, bacon , potatoes and veges. Great. And, the grilled shrimp and garlic pods with olives and frites on the side. Xlnt. This was another restaurant recommended to me by a local nearby while I was stopping in Germany. When I walked in, this place was packed with people and I had fo wait a bit to get seated. I ordered their apparently well known german pork knuckle. I waited about 10 minutes before the dish came and it was much larger than I had expected. I was actually unable to finish all of it in one sitting. The meat was very juicy and full of flavor. I had a few small dry pieces on the very edge but nonetheless it was as good as I had expected it to be. Overall, I was very satisfied with the food. My only issue was that the salad was not that great. It came with the pork knuckle but I was just expecting a bit more. read more

Yes this is a typical German restaurant and I believe and of course know from some reviews that this might offend Americans. If you read reviews and see that your comrades don't like it, don't go there. There are plenty of other places to choose from to give them bad reviews. Or better, don't go to Germany in the first place. Back to the review, while the main waiter, maybe the owner, sounded a little rude since we spoke English with a little German mixed in, she followed all the regulations in a time like that. We choose to different items and had one of them changed a little and they were great. This indeed is typically German food and of you say it's bad, you only show that you don't know better. Besides all bad or medium reviews were made by my fellow Americans and they should know better. I will come back next time I am in Koblenz as this place is in a great location near the cable car and the hotel we are staying. Which is also a small one. How hard is it for Germans to make a stew of ham hock? Apparently it is difficult although I was told by the tour guide this is what they are known for. The mashed potatoes were good but the sauerkraut was just okay. The ham hock was just boiled with some gravy added to it. Very bland. With no richness to the food. Came here after our tour boat docked for the night. It was fantastic! Staff speaks English and was very accommodating for one of our guests who requires a gluten free meal. Ambiance is great, outdoor seating plentiful. Recommend this place! Note: this is a slower pace restaurant so probably a bad choice if you're in a rush or atleast let them know. read more

This is a nice place to try German food at the corner of the Mosel and the Rhein. The menu is huge and the staff very friendly. A translation in English is also available. We tried some XXL schnitzels for less than €16, this was definitively a large meal for hungry men! Finally, the interior of the restaurant was also nice. Came with a tour group for lunch. I've never had ham hock (pork knuckle) before so given that it was my first time trying it, I'd say it was good! The ham hock was a huge portion! I liked the mash potatoes. The sauerkraut was not too sour nor not too sweet. It was ok. I ordered a pint of beer which I also enjoyed. Before the food arrived, I went outside the restaurant to enjoy the beautiful scenery. I ate everything and enjoyed my time there. read more
