Stopped by here for a late-ish breakfast with my mom while running errands a few weeks ago. We had…read morea very nice time. This little restaurant is easy to miss but it has a yellow sign and is off Winchester road. There were a few other diners hanging out and eating when we walked in. The atmosphere was simple and straightforward tables and booths. It was very clean. The menu offers breakfast and lunch and you order at the counter. The woman working at the counter recommended breakfast specifically so that's what we ordered. I ordered the bacon plate, which came with bacon, 2 eggs (I asked for scrambled), toast, and tater tots - I suppose in place of hash browns. My mom got the biscuit and gravy. Service was super friendly and working hard. Our food came out hot, fresh, and plated nicely. What I ordered wasn't what I got. I think the employee might have misunderstood me. What she delivered to me was 2 scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, and a pancake. No tater tots. I honestly had kind of wanted to try the pancake anyway and I prefer hash browns to tots for breakfast so that wasn't a great loss; therefore, I figured it was a sign from the universe I was meant to eat the pancake and didn't send it back. My mom's order was correct. Both of us enjoyed our food. She said there was some type of seasoning in the gravy that she hadn't expected or wasn't normally in it but that she really liked. My eggs were cooked well and had already been seasoned amply; they were good eggs and didn't need the hot sauce I occasionally add to dress eggs up. The toast was lightly golden and they had jam for it. They were also generous with the bacon portion and it too was also cooked well. It was good I didn't send my food back because the star of the show was definitely the pancake. It had a little drizzle of caramel or perhaps dulce de leche on the top that really elevated it. It was cooked perfectly, so fluffy and buttery with just a little flavor from the browning...it was a BOMB pancake, y'all. Simple, classic food, prepared quite well, served by super nice people. Give them a try, especially for breakfast!

The place was super friendly and swell to eat in, along with the great staff and excellent food. If you're looking for a quick bite to eat, come try this place out! Isabel is the owner and a sweetheart. Definitely go to Alan's Cafe. You won't regret it!

I am having to regrettably post this as Biscuit Express has been a staple of my childhood. For…read moreyears, since they opened I would frequent here and the Meridianville location to the point where anytime someone comes for a visit they always beg for a Bacon Egg and Cheese Biscuit from Biscuit Express. I used to always get the bologna egg and cheese biscuit and the bologna was always thick and perfection. The breakfast platters? Amazing. But lately... things have taken a turn and I have tried, like really really tried like at least 10 visits giving them the benefit of the doubt and today I actually drove away. 27 mins from the time I got in line to the order box. With 6 cars in from of me. Total. Not 6 cars in front of me before the order box, but 6 cars total from the window to me. 27 minutes to get up to the speaker box and another 2 mins before they asked what i wanted for my order. This isn't a we were having a busy busy morning issue either. This is repetitive. This is the new normal. At least 30 mins to get your order taken and a good 5-10 mins to get your food. Average drive thru take 4-6 mins from start to finish. Even on the longer side maybe 10 mins, but 27 mins just seems to get up to the speaker box to order? Come on. Then they changed the eggs.. I know .. how dare they streamline their business. I'm all for that, but they started baking their eggs in like a sheet pan. So you get a "slice" of egg on your biscuit, which is completely different than the old eggs, which were liquid eggs and that was completely fine and delicious, but these new eggs, definitely baked, definitely "trying" and definitely lacking. So now my favorite thing has went from a bologna egg and cheese biscuit to maybe I'll just get a bologna biscuit. I've even been just to get a side of bologna because I do love their bologna. I've been just to get a soft drink, one of their new loaded drinks or coffees, I've been at lunch and ordered the bacon express burger no tomato, and got charged for extra tomatoes and then had no tomato Ive tried and I keep trying but the wait times are horrible, the new eggs... eh, the biscuits are great as always but just everything else is lacking. Like I've been through the line before when I was probably 20 cars in front of me with the line standing still in Moore's mill and from the time I got in line to get my food used to be maybe 15 mins TOPS. I really wish things would improve because I do want the new owners to succeed, it's just, this is "fast food" and it's lacking in many areas.

This place is LEGIT!!…read more My mother-in-law works in Meridianville and I needed to go see her early this morning. I'm not usually this far north of town, especially during the morning, but I've heard really good things about this place and so when I found myself in the area, I knew I had to stop by. This is a small Mexican restaurant inside the Liberty 2000 gas station immediately off of 231. The signage is fairly discreet when looking from the road, but trust that it is there! Parking is ample. It's a tiny little spot but there are about three small tables tucked in near the kitchen, and of course you can take your food to go, too. Two women were busy cooking this morning while a nice man took my order. Everyone was very pleasant and the gentleman was absolutely on top of everything; a few people were waiting for breakfast before me and the moment they left he was in action cleaning their tables. As I walked out, I spied him sweeping, too. Very clean establishment. For what it's worth, I had no trouble ordering in English, though portions of some of the menus are in both Spanish and English. They definitely serve breakfast and lunch -- I didn't catch if they're open for dinner, but they might be. At breakfast, they have a bunch of different breakfast burritos, larger entree plates like huevos rancheros or omelets, tortas, tamales, and fresh juices and smoothies. I placed an order for a potato and egg breakfast burrito. I also ordered a Coke, but I was instructed to buy that through the gas station. I was able to pay for both my meal from El Buen Sabor and my drink at the primary register for the gas station. My order was made quickly and came out hot but not inedibly so, which was great because I couldn't wait. I took it to go and sat in my car just cause I prefer to be alone while stuffing my face if possible, lol. My burrito was $5.80, was large, stuffed with goodness, and came with a cup of salsa verde for dipping. A neat stack of napkins was thoughtfully included in my to-go bag. I know it sounds simple, and it was, but MAN if this wasn't an amazing breakfast burrito. Pretty sure breakfast burritos may be one of my new favorite things if I could just get them this good all the time. I'm almost positive the flour tortilla was homemade -- none of that gluey texture you get with store-bought flour tortillas. It was soft and slightly chewy and delicious. The potatoes were very faintly spicy -- I spied a few pieces of red and green peppers/chilies throughout my burrito -- and ample. The eggs were fluffy and cooked perfectly and the ratio of egg to potato was right on point. The salsa verde was bright, punchy, and the perfect amount of spicy. Just enough to add good flavor but my nose wasn't running or anything. :) And there was just enough to dip almost every perfect bite of burrito! While I hate that I'm not in this neck of the woods too often, you can trust that any time I'm in the neighborhood, I'll be back for more deliciousness. Honestly, even if you're not in the area, I think it's worth the drive if you're craving this kind of food. Thanks for making my morning spectacular! :)

It's not hard to find if you use the map function on a smart phone. We arrived when cleanup was going on. Unbeknownst to us they were closed. Their business hours on Yelp and Google were not correct. They close at 2pm. We ordered two tacos, Alambres and pollo. We ordered a birria quesadilla and a Asada torta. Our foods tasted good with heat. Neither one of us imagined that we would be sweating after eating our lunch as the only thing that would be hot/spicy would be the chorizo in the Alambres. This restaurant is for people with a high tolerance to red peppers and jalapeños. I watched the food being prepared that I could see. Employees were not wearing gloves while preparing tacos and quesadillas. I couldn't see around the corner if clean hands were preparing the rest of the food. If you have a tolerance for heat, please stop by and try their food. We were treated very well and everyone was nice. If the food wasn't so hot, we would make the trek back to try their Carne Asada.
