We've been loyal customers of this establishment for quite a while. I recently booked an appointment online with Jessica, as confirmed by my email. We usually saw Amanda, who is now longer with them which I knew because I did receive an email. When I arrived, I was told by Cassidy that the appointment was now with her. I questioned this, but she seemed confused and insisted I had booked with her. I assumed I had made a mistake--but after checking my confirmation, I was right: I had booked with Jessica. The appointment was for our 10-pound Maltipoo, who needed a full shave-down after a week of camping. He was definitely a mess, but nothing out of the ordinary. What was unexpected was the way he behaved the next day--clearly uncomfortable and not himself. I called several times, but no one answered the phone. When I finally received a call back the next day, I was told nothing had happened and that they had no idea what was wrong. They scheduled a phone call with the owner, Christine, for Saturday. I made adjustments to my work schedule to be available. Saturday came and went--no call. I didn't hear from Christine until Wednesday, and by then I had already taken my dog to the vet twice, spending hundreds of dollars. The diagnosis: post-grooming furunculosis, most likely caused by clippers. (Per my vet) We played phone tag for a week, and when I finally connected with someone, it was an employee who apologized on behalf of the owner for the missed call. I never heard directly from Christine again--despite knowing a serious issue occurred under her business's care. The lack of accountability and professionalism was extremely disappointing. And you can save your generic copy and paste response to all the other yelp reviews that I'm currently now seeing it took me a while to write this because I was really upset and had I wrote this immediately my review would be much worse. To make matters worse, they also missed clipping his dew claws. We will absolutely not be returning. A sincere follow-up from the owner could have gone a long way--but unfortunately, that never happened. I am happy to report. I did find the location where Amanda is grooming and will make the trip out to Rochester just to see her knowing I never had a problem. read more

Not sure what happened between owner and the talented groomers at this pet salon, but they are now gone. I had booked with Melissa " The Doodle Whisperer" and was told it would be a 2 week wait for an appt with her as she was in high demand. I was willing to wait to insure a proper groom. When I arrived for the appt., I find that Melissa had left along with most of the other regular groomers weeks before I had made the appt. This is what is now coming out of the Salon under " Doodle Delux" grooming service. His skin has been sheared in several places and he is chewing, scratching and licking these burned areas continuously. In response to this shockingly unprofessional hatchet cut, the manager responded that my dog is a " squirmer" and a "shaker" and attempting to shift blame on him. It's taken me a while to write this review because I wanted to be fair, but after much consideration, this is the only rating I could give. I've been going here for over 9 years and my dogs have always received glowing reviews when they are done being groomed. They've been with Wag 'N' Tails since they were puppies so they are well accustomed to being groomed and generally have a very pleasant experience. First, we were not pleased we received no notice our groomers were no longer working there. When we walked in and asked, the gal behind the counter said we should have received notice on the app...we don't use the app and make all our appointments in person, 3 months ahead of time. Great way to generalize your clients. Secondly, the place was chaotic. I can't imagine any animal coming out of that place feeling relaxed and like they had a nice spa day. If the owner is a trainer also, this should be understood, but the owner wasn't anywhere to be found. I understand it's a grooming salon and I expect the sound of clippers and tools, etc. but the screaming of the employees was unexpected. I probably should have turned around right then and there. When I discussed the cuts I like for my dogs - same as always, please, their new groomer said there were a lot of notes in our file (9 years worth, 4x year, 2 dogs) and she wouldn't read them. I am not that particular, I have my dogs shaved down with cute little faces. We agreed on the length, which was the second from the shortest. When the dogs came out, I told the groomer they were way too long and she barked at me that that was the length we discussed. I told her yes, we discussed the second shortest blade, but that's not what I got. She said, well it didn't seem right and I was going to call you, but didn't. She let me know my dogs' hair was too straight to go through the clippers and it wouldn't cut. Not true since one of the dogs definitely does not have straight hair and I've never been told you can't cut straight hair. My dogs' hair should have been a half inch long tops and their hair is at least an inch and a half, which means I can't wait 3 months to bring them back, I have to pay again to have them groomed properly. It is my intention to discuss this with the owner, but if you have newer employees as the front line of your business that still need guidance, I have to ask...WHERE is the OWNER? My dogs are a mess. Their hair is alllll different lengths, uneven, and my vet let me know one dog was cut, which explains why he's been licking his feet when that's never been the case. I understand nicks happen, just tell me, don't hide it. For an owner who claims to strive for excellence, please, be present to watch over your business when you have staff turnover. It may be a natural part of a business, but your clients being screwed over shouldn't be. read more

I had my 1 year old husky groomed here for the first time a few months ago. Other than them clipping the quick on one of her nails, the groom went well. I returned for a second groom and they AGAIN cut the quick on a nail but this time took it down so short that it left massive pools of blood. They also cut her pad in between her toenails. The worst part is that they wouldn't respond back to my inquiries, admitted the cut at time of deliver and then lied about it when they did reach out, and have not taken any responsibility for the injury or complete lack of care. I am not a professional dog groomer and yet never cut the quick on my last husky after clipping nails for 13 years. This carelessness is unacceptable. Especially after a $70 bath. UPDATE- Manager Carrie (Karey?- spelling unknown) reached out and was unapologetically rude. She offered no apology, no solution, and no resolution while being rude and unprofessional. She was short tempered and snapped at every question I had. Groomer Shelley needs to be re-evaluated for decision making skills. read more

I have been taking my 2 1/2 year-old goldendoodle to this business for almost a year now, never had a problem always had a great groomer (the same girl every time). Around memorial day I went on the app to book her groom and found her groomer and most of the other groomers whose names I recognized, were gone. The few that were left whose names I did remember were fully booked and I ended up going elsewhere. I was not happy with the way my dog came out at this other place, and after that my dog unfortunately broke her leg and needed surgery. The splint and bandage will be coming off next week after two full months with weekly bandage changes and a plate and screws put in. I stopped in this afternoon with my husband to to see if I could speak to someone about scheduling her groom sometime after the bandage and splint were off, and hopefully to speak to somebody about the care needed for the leg in particular, after two months in a bandage and splint there was a lot of matted fur, and the incision site is completely healed, but still obviously some care needed to be taken with it. We walked in and nobody came up to the desk at first, finally a heavyset, dark haired girl with glasses, walked up and stared, no hello good afternoon nothing. I explained to her why I was here, and that I wanted to talk to somebody about the groom, again silent stares, and then finally she asked me if I still have the app, because I could just book the groom on there. Obviously there was no manager or person in charge there at that point, but this girl seemed almost put off that I was taking up her time, and much more concerned with getting back to whatever she was doing before I had come in. Having been there many times in the past I was surprised , having always had a pleasant experience when I've been in there before. I left with no new information as to how they would take care of my dog with her recent injury. She almost gave off the feeling that we were bothering her with the questions, and definitely did not make me want to bring my dog back there again, nor trust her with the task of being careful with the post-surgery groom. read more

Literally the worst place ever. Keep your dogs far away! I went to pick up my goldendoodle he was pretty much shaved down, his tail is cut completely uneven, his stomach area has spots shaved down completely for some reason, some nails trimmed and some they decided ehh I won't do those nails, ears not cleaned at all! When I picked him up he was in a crate. When I got home he had dried poop on his butt. He also completely downed 2 large bowls of water. He was there for nearly 5 hours seemed like he sat in that crate the whole time with no water. My husband called and their only response was to bring him back to be groomed again after he had just spent 5 hours there!! The biggest waste of $130!! read more
