Was in the UK for a couple weeks, went to Wagamama twice. Food was delicious and there weren't many places in the area for ramen and bao buns. Quite a difference when I returned to this restaurant. The food is still great - no fault there whatsoever. What has changed is the service which is in stark contrast to the first time I went. I've rarely known any staff 'go through the motions' like this lot. Our orders were taken with such nonchalance it was silly, and the same waitress came over when we were half way through and said, while looking elsewhere in a thoroughly disinterested fashion, 'is everything alright?' and started to walk away before we'd answered. It's obviously part of the Wagamama script to ask punters how they are doing, but just a little more enthusiasm or some actual feeling rather than the distant attitude which made us feel like we were encroaching on her time. We went again as my kids like it, and pretty much the same thing happened! Staff need to be kept on their toes if this is how they behave! I wonder of Wagamama 'mystery shop' their own restaurants? They;d get a shock at this branch! read more

I managed to come here on the opening night, and it was heaving! The atmosphere was great though, and the food was super tasty. It was clear that the staff were all quite new and keen (our waiter was very fresh-faced and wee!), but there was a lot of excitement in the air. I can't wait to go back again. I didnt have a very good experience at this branch of Wagamama. I had to send back my meal. I ordered the special ramen which i was looking forward to but when i started to tuck into it, I found the noodles tasting raw and doughy. i sent it back and told them what i thought was the problem, they produced another and again it didnt taste right. But by this time I was running late and I just left if and ate what I could of it. It was therefore disappointing to not get a response from the chain's head office when I wrote to complain. I've eaten enough noodles in the past to know when it is not cooked properly. It was over-priced and not to be recommended. staff were attentive though, so I dont blame them. It should be about the head office being attentive and checking their standards, benchmarking it. I'm not sure that they are. read more

I went to this place last year for my birthday but in Leeds, I thought it was pretty good so when my family went here without me I asked them to get me a takeout. I'm a vegan so find it nice that they have food here I can eat, so ordered the yasai itame and the yasai gyoza. I heated up the dumpling type gyoza in the oven then took a bite when it was hot, only to find it was DUCK! I cannot understand how a mistake that big could be made and feel it has ruined my view if this place, I hope the new one to be built in trinity Leeds will have better staff as I love the food, just when it's not compromising my dietary requirements. read more

Newly opened in Harrogate in 2008 with a lovely light and airy feel with massive windows two two sides to allow a great view of passers by. Decorated and set out as all this chain are with tables for larger groups and fours, so you may well be sharing if a two some, there are some couples tables available which are down the side near the kitchen,very cosy but no view. A varied and vast menu with choices for everyone, if you are afraid of noodles then go for the meatier versions, but you must be prepared to battle with chopsticks and wooden spoons!! We have always found this restaurant to be spotless even at busy times. Lovely informal atmosphere, I love the fact they write your order on the place mats. Everything here is cooked to order and you can just taste the freshness. These are not small portions, but you do not feel bloated as everything is so fresh. Once your order is taken the many chefs in the open to the restaruant kitchen start cooking. You do not usually have to wait long for your food, but may have to wait to be seated at busier times. Staff are as ever helpfull and friendly but not intrusive. What I love most about this place is the ecclectic mix of people that go in there from schoolchildren having a quick lunch to 80 years old having a great time. Food is reasonable and the drinks are good a bit expensive but not extortionate in the general scheme of things. There is so much choice on the menu that this would be a forty page epistle, so Noodles with various meats, rice dishes, ecclectic mixed starters and sweets. We have never been disappointed, one little nugget ,if you join the Wagamamas club via the website then they have regular special offers for buy one get one free, free sweets starters etc. (we use them a lot!) The only problem I have with this particular restaurant is that if you go to the toilets leave a trail of rice or something as it is a maze down there. They did say they were going to put some more signs up but I have not seen them yet!!? However incredibly clean! read more

Had a nice meal here on a rainy Saturday lunchtime the service was great as we were the only ones there for a while so the waiters were able to devote their 100% attention to us :-) The place feels new and clean and despite the cool open kitchen layout, it's not noisy or intrusive other wagamamas we've experienced have been like school dinner halls The food was lovely only issue was the Yaki Soba dish which was way too salty Definitely somewhere to pop into at lunchtime or organise for a dinner party Oh and my favourite thing there is the large sign pointing towards the kitchen saying Noodles - Fantastic! read more

I hate to write bad reviews, but feel compelled to in this instance. Just awful! The atmosphere and setting are exactly what you would come to expect from a Wagamamas, but food was the most bland, tasteless rubbish. To be honest, the duck gyoza starter we had was really nice....thank god, as that tied us over until we got home and could have some food! Awful! read more

Very poor. Firstly I eat a wagamama all over country and harrogate is always much worse than others. This time I ordered Raw Salad and it comes in a piping hot bowl. Cold salad does not go in a bowl that is almost too hot to hold. I told the waiter and he explains that sometimes the bowls sit under the lamp and get too hot. Like nothing they can do about it. The salad wilted and became warm. The waiter said he would speak to manager which I doubt be did. No offer of a new one or no apologies. Then I get pad thai that had virtually no sauce on it and had a taste of gas. It wasnt really nice at all. I eat both these items at other restaurants and enjoy them. It shows a lack of care and attention to detail and very poor customer service. Many other issues I dont have time to point out. read more

We went to wagamamas for my friends birthday, there was a group of about 15 off us. Everyone had a great time, we struggled to get a large table anywhere else but Wagamamas were very helpful! The food was great as always and all the staff very helpful, couldn't recommend it enough! read more

We tried Wagamama in York when it is newly opened, although we thought food can pass the good mark, the service was quite patronising. We said we will give another go in Harrogate and it was disaster. Like earlier somebody commented service was terrible and not really caring. We complained and they did not even realise that we complained I think. Especially the waiter, who seemed walking around like in a daze. The another waiter this time girl, she was patronising too and in your face, it wasn't very comfortable. Personally I think if people don't enjoy their work, they shouldn't work there We ordered ramen noodles and it was very tasteless and watery. A lot can be done with their wagamama ramen. I could only find only 1 prawn, 1 mushroom and about three pieces of chicken meat and some noodles with pea shoots with tasteless watery soup. It was 8.50, which should really cost 3.99 and the beef dish was 12.35 or something, should really cost 4.50. The noodles were not well cooked and and consistence was not nice to the taste. My husband had beef chilli ramen and he didn't enjoy at all, again tasteless. We left without finishing our meal, because we didn't enjoy it, AT ALL!!!! Will not be going there again!!!! we popped in on saturday lunch with the kids as a break from shopping and thought the food was fantastic, really fresh tasting and healthy too. even though we queued at the door it was less than 5 minutes before we were seated. our waitress was really helpfull with advice as the menu can appear a bit daunting. crispy prawn side dish was an inspired recommendation and the kids loved their mini katsu dishes (crunchy battered chicken breast with rice and a creamy mild curry sauce) I had a steak soba which was a delicious combination of flavours and textures and my wife enjoyed her wagamama ramen - a huge bowl of soup and noodles filled with chicken, fish, tofu, mushroom and other fancy japanese bits! for dessert I recommend the scrummy ginger cheesecake and the kids recommend sharing a portion of the chocolate cake. we were informed that coffees are now on the menu but were just too full by this point.service was really speedy without being rushed, we will definately go back again soon and heartily recommend for those who dare to be different! read more
