Overall: Underwhelmed-- don't expect rich flavors or anything near authentic Asian food. Came with the family on a busy Wednesday evening, but only had to wait about 10 minutes. Lots of diners both indoor and outdoor. Ordered the Positive Juice which was good! The cauliflower and satiated greens were too. Small for the price in my opinion. Entree Order: * shirodashi pork belly ramen The meat was good. The dish itself I didn't care for. It was as like a hybrid of phở (clear broth & rice noodles) tried the toppings of Tonkotsu ramen. It wasn't awful, but I was dissatisfied. My sister had the gyoza ramen and really didn't like it-- was lacking flavor. Our server seemed a little out of it: had a method of scribbling down our order on our placemats, brought a dirty water cup, faulted our order and seemed quite fed up. Not the greatest experience. Don't think I'd come back...

The firecracker prawn is really spicy. I tried to turn down the heat by getting a side of the sweet sauce and the rice in the side but it was too much. I ended up eating it but it was HOT!

The only chicken katsu curry you need in your life. That's all. Obviously lots of other great things on the menu and the service is super quick so you can fit it into your lunch break for sure.

The worst ramen I've ever had in my life. Now that that's out of the way, this Wagamama is located within the lovely, modern Cardinal Place. We arrived around 8 p.m. and requested to sit outside to enjoy the unusually warm London weather. Patio closes at 9 and they advised us they would move us inside at that time. The BBQ pork buns were probably my favorite of the meal. The meat was spicy and the Japanese mayo was a nice touch. The Chicken Katsu Curry was delicious and a very generous portion. The Chili Ramen was terrrribleeee. I got the top sirloin and it was inedible- tough, chewy, and no flavor. The copious amount of raw onion on top made the broth taste disgusting. Service was attentive and friendly. I'd go back and skip the ramen.

Located at the upper level of Cardinal Place, this place was very crowded and extremely noisy. The tables were set up cafeteria style. If you don't mind hearing the other parties gossiping loudly next to you, then you may just tolerate this place. My sister and I came in at around 7:30pm on a Wednesday night. The place was packed and again, noisy. We waited for about 15 minutes to be seated. The server gave us maybe 30 seconds before coming by asking if we were ready to order. We got two side dishes to try, duck gyoza and pork belly steamed buns. The gyoza was crunchy. The dipping sauce complimented the duck nicely. The steamed bun was thick but fluffy, and the Sriracha gave a nice kick to my taste bud. I ordered the duck donburi while my sister ordered the grilled chicken ramen (sorry, no pic of the ramen). The duck was a bit dry. I think it would've been better if the egg was cooked over-easy so the gooey yoke could be mixed in with the rice. That's just my preference. There are many different other restaurants in the area to choose from. I do NOT recommend coming to this place. The noise was a big factor. Although the meal was not expensive, I felt that I could've gotten better food for around the same price at another restaurant.

I've been reading that Wagamama is good for ramen but I didn't end up ordering that. It was a hot day so I really didn't feel like eating something with hot broth. So I opted for the ginger chicken udon. They use pickled ginger, which I was a bit iffy about at first since I'm not usually a fan. But this was actually really good. The flavor paired well with the saltiness of the noodles. The chicken tasted a bit leftover-y but I still ate everything since I was starving. We have one Wagamama location in NYC so I'll probably go and try the ramen there (though I'm sure it won't be as good). Tip - Wagamama is good for a quick sit down lunch. The food comes out pretty quickly, so you'll be in and out in about 45 minutes or so.

Visited for lunch and we were seated within 10 minutes on a busy afternoon. We ordered the shiitake mushroom donburi, which was flavoursome but slightly dry. The veg ramen was excellent and the chicken raisukaree was the best dish we had. Perfectly flavoured and good amount of veggies I would go back for this dish. The service was fantastic and very friendly. Love this place.

    Wagamama ramen

I went to two Wagamama's for lunch during the two days I was in London. I don't regret it. But admittedly, I still felt underwhelmed by the food. This time, I had a raw salad and the signature Wagamama Ramen. The salad was fine--I was just happy to have some greens instead of the heavy pies, sausages & gravies I had been eating the prior week in Northern England. The ramen itself was filled with lots of delicious things - pork, shrimp, chicken, mussels, a tea egg, chikuwa and wakame. I didn't find the broth to be very flavorful - in fact, I had to add soy sauce to add salt as it just tasted bland without it. And well, this is not their fault, but this just reconfirmed that I really don't like mussels. If you do like mussels, then you will be happy with the amount they add to the bowl, but if you don't, it might just be best to ask them to not add them at all. Other than that, everything else was pretty enjoyable and despite being super crowded, my service was very attentive from start to finish.

Found Zheng Chelsea within a short 5-10 min walking distance of our hotel via yelp It looked modern and upscale from pics online and a bit fusion in the style of Malaysian dishes, so we didn't expect too much, gauging from the majority of the customers being non-Asian (sorry but it's usually a pretty accurate measure when evaluating authenticity/flavors of dishes). BUT...we ended up loving every dish we ordered, and while we're far from being an expert in Southeast Asian/Malaysian cuisine, we found every dish to be tasty and perfectly cooked. The crispy beef had a nice light crisp batter but the beef inside was still tender and tasty...often times, this dish results in chewy/tough beef with way too much batter and is mushy instead of nicely crisped. Soya Sauce chicken was with all dark meat chicken (cut up thighs with bones) and we definitely always appreciate restaurants with dark meat chicken in their chicken dishes since we much much much prefer dark meat to white breast meat pieces! Even the Gai lan veggies with oyster sauce was tasty and the stems were not too thick/chewy and tough like many other times when we've had gai lan elsewhere...my fiancé isn't even a huge fan of gai lan but he loves this preparation of it at Zheng Chelsea Ohhh and definitely get the coconut rice, it's quite flavorful and complements most of the dishes on the menu quite well! The decor inside was spotless, nice comfy velvet chairs/booths and it was nice and quiet downstairs vs the much more lively (but also loud) upstairs part. And service was quite good and definitely way above average if compared to the usual Chinese restaurants

For the more leisurely visit, start with sea bream ceviche or go the vegan route Vegetable Lumpia (has nuts). As it was lunch for me, I began with an Ube Latte to drink which was tasty, but you could go for weeks trying various teas: Lemon Verbena, Turmeric Chai, Paradise Punch. And that's only a launching point to the World Beers and Handcrafted Cocktails portion of the menu. The more adventurous will try Batangas Bad Boy (10 year Talisker) or Boracay Dreams (rum, Malibu, coconut cream). But I needed to have a productive second-half of the day, so next time for those. On to the main course. I normally would be all over the "all-time favorite" Pork Hock, but as it was later in the travel week I opted for sea bass. It was a solid choice. The pandan leaf wrap locked in the moisture and flavor, and the soy lime dressing was definitely not for the faint of spicy-heart without adding rice. The noodles looked excellent at the table nearby, picking between chicken, shrimp, vegan, even sardines. Since I needed to be awake for some meetings, dessert wasn't an option this time, but the Banana Turon fritters would fit the bill nicely. Service was friendly and prompt, while still allowing time to dwell and savor. I'll schedule a return on a Friday to enjoy tapas "journey of Filipino flavours".

In a related and very lovely gesture, the server brought me a complimentary mutton roll (with chilli ketchup) and said they usually send something on the house for solo diners :) The roll was delicious -- savoury mutton without a strong game-y flavour that went really nicely with the mildly spicy ketchup. I decided to have an order of the Lankan chicken kari paired with a hopper. I did not know what a hopper was before then (let alone seen one), so it was an interesting surprise when I was served this unevenly thick, bowl-shaped rice pancake. Fortunately, I did not go wrong with this choice, as the hopper was so delicious. The light rice-based flavour of the hopper paired so nicely with the rich, slightly spicy curry and the tender and savoury chicken, and I really liked the textural variety of the hopper itself (thicker, spongier base and thinner, crispier sides). The ratio of hopper to curry was not quite right, though, so I ended up ordering another roti to enjoy the remaining half of my curry and chicken. The roti was really delicious -- fluffy on the inside and perfectly crispy on the outside -- and similarly paired super well in carrying the curry flavour. All in all, price point was pretty solid for the quality and amount of food. I thought the hopper was pricier than expected, but conversely the curry was less so -- so overall it all seemed quite reasonable. I would love the chance to come visit again and try more of their deliciously fragrant curry options next time.

It was a few blocks down from where we were, but since I was planning on going to the Tesco Superstore later, it was actually on the way. We found the door to the restaurant and walked in. The restaurant was actually down the stairs. We walked downstairs and saw more than enough seating. The place was pretty clean, albeit a little darker than expected. Not good for the Yelper who likes to take pictures. LOL! We were greeted and seated promptly. They took our order and we waited for our food. While waiting for our food, we noticed there was a room next to us that had a karaoke party going on. Being the only Filipino on earth that doesn't do karaoke, this wasn't a big deal to me. I do, however, like watching people have fun doing karaoke and it looked like everyone was having a blast. They picked some really good karaoke songs (Living On A Prayer by Bon Jovi, anyone?). The food started coming out now. We started off with some Salt And Pepper Tofu. It came on a bed of veggies and was topped with fried garlic and slice peppers. We devoured everything. In fact, it might have been our favorite dish. For our main course, we essentially had a dim sum meal with some noodles throw in. We had Har Gau, Pork and Shrimp Siu Mai, Pork Belly Bao, Char Siu Bun, and Gyoza. We added a little bit more with noodles, corn soup, and Kai Lan with ginger sauce. The Pork Belly was super good and it probably wouldn't been better to order a few more. The other dim sum items were good, but living in the Bay Area, I've come accustomed to eating really good Chinese food. The noodles, soup, and Kai Lan were all good, too. The entire meal, as a whole, was extremely enjoyable. Service here is a great. We didn't have a regular waitress assigned to our table as a few people checked in on us. They were all great though. Being in London, of course they had an English accent. My daughter's loved it! They kept trying to copy them. I guess they channeled their inner Peppa Pig!
