Came across this place as we were on our way to The London Eye. We were hungry and wanted something quick and easy to eat. This a build your own noodle bar...similar concepts exists where I'm from--build your own poke bowl, mediterranean bowl, pizza, etc. This is not a unique concept, but perhaps it is in London. So you pick your carb, noodles (egg, rice or udon) or rice, then pick your sauce--mild or spicy (the menu indicates whether it's mild or spicy) and finally then pick your protein (meat or tofu). Finally, you can pick your size--it defaults to "regular" size, so if you don't have a big appetite you can get a kid size (which is smaller, not to be confused with a kid's meal) or if you're extra hungry or the large size. We ordered a beef sweet and sour rice box, chicken noodles with Malaysian spice and chicken with Singaporean spice, the latter two indicates hot, but I thought the spice level was equal to mildly spicy. Both noodle dishes were heavy on the veg, but the chicken pieces were large. The noodles were supposedly egg noodles, but it didn't look like egg noodles. The overall taste was okay, but it's definitely something I wouldn't go out of my way for. If you work in the area and need something quick, this place will satisfy your hunger. read more

My mom and husband ordered the rice with Spicy thai sauce. The both thought it to be too salty and requested more rice to balance out the flavors. When I need big food, I head to Neds. They serve scrummy freshly made stir fries in those wonderful American style boxes. Choose a stir fry and have it with either udon, egg or rice (gluten free) noodles. I usually go for the Malaysian beef which has bean sprouts, red and green chillies, lime and coriander amongst other ingredients. It's saucy and quite rich. When I'm feeling a bit "vegeterianish", I go for the Thai vegetable green curry with tofu. It has chilli but is not too hot. The prices are good for the quantity of food. There is also a selection of soup noodle dishes, salads and starters. Service is quick and friendly. Neds also donates some of their profits to a charity called Mencare, which I think is really nice. read more

It's one of those slightly off the beaten track places that makes you look really cool as you stride past Wagamama's and all the other chains on South Bank, duck down a side street and come back minutes later with a steaming carton of delicious noodles that looks straight out of an episode of Friends. I'm not sure what about that is cool, maybe you had to be there when I did that, to see how cool it really was. Anyway, my favourites are the chicken and prawns, the veggie green curry and the duck and oyster. You get a massive portion for around £5/£6 depending on what you order and you select the type of noodle you prefer. They also do other stuff like salads for people who don't quite get it. The staff are friendly but always seem really harassed even if it's dead. This is a great place to grab a bite and you can eat in or take your noodles for a romantic stroll along the stinky river Thames. read more

It was one of those days where, after a busy and slightly depressing morning, I thought to myself 'time to have a treat for lunch.' And I was just in that mood for noodles, you know that mood that overcomes you (presumably it is dictated by your stomach), so after a quick wander I found this independent chain and went for it. Nice interior, little bit like a diner but they hadn't taken the theme all the way. Friendly staff, they didn't give you that bored look when you're staring at the menu - normally I hate those people that get to the front of a queue and then try and decide what to have. Fortunately today there was not queue so I didn't care as much! I had chinese bbq (if that exists, it tasted like teriyaki) chicken egg noodles - you can choose your protein, noodle type and sauce which is always nice. Possible to accompany it with some spring rolls etc but I though that would make me look too fat on my own - this is the point in the review where the readers should exclaim, 'You, fat, never!' Thanks in advance for that guys! £7.25 was expensive food the look of the place (fast food-esque) so I was expecting good noodles and was a bit disappointed. They were quite greasy and swimming in sauce. If it cost £5 I would be fine with that, but there were no better than Wasabi and 1.5x the price. Portion was less too. All in all, not worth it. If I'm fancying noodles again I will go a few metres further in the other direction and stick with Wasabi. read more

I think the concept is great and unique, but the food was only okay. I felt like my noodles were drowning in sauce. There are not many (if any) other Fresh made to order Noodles in a box places in London (except for the other branch of Neds in Westbourne grove). This is why I give it 4 stars! You order the type of noodles you want with whatever sauce/meat/seafood/veg combo off the menu, and your order is made up fresh in front of you. I am a fan because it's a much better healthier take away meal option than alot of the other junk that they sell around Southbank. My only gripe is the fact that they charge for every little extra (I think around £1 for extra chilli!). They should have free condiments for people to spice up their own, like in most good Asian eateries. Still recommend though! read more

We realized mistakes do happen, so we went up to the counter to tell them about it and ask them to change it. The girl @ the counter decided she needed to give me cooking lessons in malaysian food. She went onto explain how malaysian food taste like that. She did not change it, inspite of repeated requests since the stuff was bad food. I've been here several times in the evening on the way from A to B in the vicinity of Waterloo / Southbank and found it by accident a while back and I'm a fan for several reasons: - I love Asian style noodles. - When I am hungry yet don't want to hang around too long, I want to eat quickly. - Good sized portions (can't stand measly portion sizes for fast food). - They serve the noodles in those 'chinese takeaway' boxes with the little wire carry handle and chopsticks (I like the kitsch factor yet completely practical so you can eat in or take away). - Made to order and steaming hot. - Choice of different types of noodle and different style combos (chicken, veg, fish, spicy, non spicy etc) - Soft drinks or beer, if you want. - You order and your food comes. I feel like noodle bars have been popping up all over the place in Europe. With that being said, I'd say this place is definitely average/below avrg compared to other places. The inside is not the cleanest, looks kinda old. It's also more expensive (but I guess it is London...). I ordered the noodles with yellow curry sauce, chicken, broccoli, and mushrooms. The quality is decent but I found that the sauce was not that flavorful. The presentation is also really messy. If there were other restaurants that were more appealing nearby, I probably wouldnt eat here again. You choose the type of noodles, then the sauces, then the filling, and you get your perfect noodle meal in a little cute box (just a standard noodle pailor box - the take aways have a little handle too). The dishes are prepared quickly (10mins tops), served hot and perfect to go - so if you're having a business meeting around Westminster and you need to catch a quick lunch, this is a place to go. The noodles did not taste fresh, the meat portions were tiny, and the flavor was just not good. Despite being very hungry, neither of my sons ate half of a very average size portion of food. Our last experience with Asian food during our vacation wasn't so successful; sushi in Ibiza Town in Ibiza, not good! They just took the vinegar part of sushi rice TOO FAR. So we decided to go to Neds since we were fiending for anything remotely Asian, something just like at home. While it wasn't that familiar taste we were looking for, Neds hit the spot. Long story short the food is gross. They use way too much starch in their sauces, makes me gag just thinking about it. We are so not eating fast Chinese ever again, no thanks. So, we ended up with the pretty menu handed to us on the street and after daily 70£ dinners we decided to go there for a less costly family of five meal one night. Somehow though we still ended up paying close to 60£ for the whole meal. I would say no matter what the sauce was, all the dishes tasted pretty much the same, some more fishy, but I've never seen such a gross chicken on rice that my 4 year old got - the chicken was literally in a glue like sauce, sticky and slimy.
