I moved to Santa Barbara from Sweden 30 years ago and being a Swedish lawyer I was very skeptical, to say the least. I thought Dr. Wagner might be one of these California healers, surfing on the new Age Waves into sunset in never land, (Especially when i heard some famous people went to see him too) But when my two year old son started to develop a lazy eye, and I was told by doctors he needed a black patch in front of the other eye (that would force the lazy eye to work more and build more muscle) and I learned about the emotional and developmental impact of blocking out 50% of a child's vision, I was pretty desperate to find another solution. Then someone recommended Dr. Wagner- like some kind of miracle doctor he had helped her get well when nobody else could. Really? But as most parents, I was willing to do almost anything to help my child. My son was of course, a little, weary, seeing a new doctor in a new country. But Dr. Wagner was very sweet to him, and let him hold and try the clicker on him (it's an instrument I think is called the activator that it's used to adjust the body to work better by slightly click/ tap on some acupuncture points I think) Anyway, my son thought it tickled and was very relieved that there were no needles or shots involved, but Dr. Wagner just did some muscle testing, used the clicker to adjust him and then lightly massaged the muscle around my son's eye- and told me to keep him off milk for a while - since his eye-muscles had got so weakened by his allergies towards milk that we were not aware of. All I had to do was to massage the muscles around his eye very shortly each morning and night for two weeks and my son's eye would be fine again. Could it really be that easy? Actually yes! When we went back after a couple weeks my sons eye were totally perfect, even as months of struggling with an eye patch on a two year old plus emotional trauma! We were so relieved. That was the proof, that the skeptical, Swedish lawyer inside me needed at the time, and we started to regularly visit, Dr. Wagner and his staff. From children with colds to my unexplained fatigue (that he found was partly due to the nuclear downfall over where we lived in Sweden, pretty close to the Chernobyl accident in Russia.) Now looking back I am filled with gratitude for all the healing, help and support we have received during the 30 years following the lazy eye episode that thought me to see beyond the familiar. Dr. Wagner has given us so many insights and has a mind that's just brilliant and finds solutions where other doctors just see problems. He has very hands on practical solutions, and sometimes also unconventional but effective approaches -if you're just open to think outside the conventional lines at times. Supplements, vitamins, chiropractic adjustments, allergy testing etc he combines with I guess over 50 years of experience, his strong intuition and tons of spiritual insights and wisdom. You never know what his treatment will involve, it is so personal since we are all different, but his approach really works. Last year Dr. Coleman an acupuncturist joined the office, making a "dynamite duo" with Dr. Wagner. I am not a big fan of acupuncture and never felt it really worked for me before, but when Dr. Wagner suggested it I have learned by now to listen, and at least try! Going into Dr. Coleman's office is like coming into a little spiritual sanctuary for a mini retreat. In contrast to Dr. Wagner's very bright larger corner office, looking over the Pacific, Dr. Coleman's office is darker, very quiet and peaceful like Dr Colman himself - an Englishman gentleman who has wonderful gifts, not only with acupuncture but his calming presence really helps you to start the healing journey without limitations. All kinds of Things start to move inside, and I who have problems crying often find myself asking for a tissue laying on his table, when the most unexpected pains get released. But I always feel very uplifted and happy when I leave. (I joke with Sandra that I must be drawn to men who makes you cry.) I have to drive a while to get to Malibu but it's well worth the trip. I've been a patient of Dr. Wagner's since I was 7 years old. I was born with asthma - having been hospitalized over a dozen times from birth till the moment I met Dr. Wagner. I have been coming on and off to Dr. Wagner for the past 17 years. He is my go to doctor when nobody else can figure what is the cause of my pain or discomfort. Yes, he is not inexpensive but after I go to him I know my condition will improve. My experience with Dr Wagner is he doesn't try to sell you on making follow up appointments- he leaves that up to you. He even recommended a private yoga instructor to me that improved my core body strength and flexibility. After that recommendation I was good and really didn't have many follow up visits at his office. My friend and neighbor injured his shoulder 2 months ago by helping to lift something 400 lbs. The medical Dr took x-rays and told him to go home and rest. He is resting and taking Homeopathic remedies at my suggestion, but it is not getting much better. I took him to see Dr Wagner 3 days ago - we are so glad we did. I found Dr Wagner in the phone book, when I was looking for another healer of the same name. In talking with Natalia in his office, I liked that they had multiple disciplines in the office, including Homeopathy. Love Homeopathy, saved my life, been using and studying it for 40 years and treating family and friends successfully. My friend could not raise his arm without feeling a pulling and a shooting pain. Within a few minutes, Dr Wagner realized his collar bone was out of place, pushed it back in, found his arm was rotated in shoulder socket, adjusted that, and then had the other Dr give him a general adjustment. He is so happy, he can raise his arm up behind his head, which he couldn't do before, with almost no pain. I had Dr Wagner treat me also, found some issues, uses the laser as a diagnostic tool along with muscle testing, and applied some great little machines. I was not very keen on muscle testing before, but I'll have to say, the results were great. All my life, I am in advanced age now but strong and in good shape, I have had a sluggish GI tract and stomach issues. One treatment and my stomach has settled down - I couldn't be more pleased. We will be back Monday or Tuesday. Then I just realized that this is the Dr Ed Wagner that my wife used to say had helped her a great many years ago. I've ran Into lots of smart people there, from celebrities, to politicians and professionals athletes at Dr Wagner. My husband is a professional athlete and he's a patient of Dr Wagner. The shoe inserts are incredible ! They saved my feet and hips. I used to have foot pain and hip pain. They have worked wonders on my husband, who also has foot pain without them. Also on my mother and my husband's father who used to walk with a limp. Your posture can affect many parts of the body. The thing about Dr Wagner is that if you find hiM on Yelp and expect your regular chiropractor experience you might be a bit confused, but if someone who cares about you sends you to him they will warn you that in order for him to get to the root of your issue he will go over some different methods you might have not seen before and also he will have you on many supplements. Yes the $ amount will be up there but that's worth it if you truly want answers and also to improve you health not just cover up the symptoms. I belive that health brings wealth and it has shown true for me. Many of my friends and family have been going to Dr Wagner for many many years. When you go to him just let him do his thing and if you can afford it, take the supplements and suggestions. I've also told some friends that if they can't spend over a certain amount they can go there and say it off the bat "my budget is this" they will work with you on what the most necessary thing you need. During Covid-19 when you are required to wear a mask outside and in local businesses the office wasn't requiring patients to wear a mask. In a small waiting room there were three patients not including myself and a receptionist who didn't have masks on. When the doctor saw me I asked why people weren't wearing masks and he said they couldn't force people to. As I was leaving I saw anther receptionist and patient without a mask and when the patient saw me in mine she asked the receptionist if she needed to wear one and the receptionist shook her head no. After visiting Wagner holistic Ctr I left with an incredibly bad taste in my mouth. I had an issue with my arm that happened during a volleyball game. I've had similar issues before and I know that what I need is good muscular manipulation and some professional stretching etc. After little actual movement on my arm.. This guy had me talking about food and said that organic chicken and turkey was BAD for me.. and that I should eat lots more red meat!???? Then.. as per 4 of the other reviews.. (which I wish I'd read before I visited this quack!) he started to upsell me on utterly nonsensical shoe orthotics (extra $400) some head and leg manipulation ($150) then $140 of wonder pills! And all of this is with other people and his potion clinic in his practice. He also sees other patients at the same time (sends you back to he waiting room for 30 minute waits) and you can hear more of the quack talk hypotheses with other patients. Long story short.. what was told to me as a $200 visit and escalated to a $850 cost!! I declined the orthotics and other items and paid only for the physical 'treatment'. This guy is simply a salesman.. he makes up stories about why there is no pressure on my arm (pretends to push down to show that there is an 'issue'.. when he clearly wasn't pushing down'). In truth, I was not provided a complete refund, but was forced to take Wagner to Small Claims Court, where a brief review of what he planned to say about me revealed he was perfectly willing to lie about the situation to defend himself. When he looked at the detailed book of evidence I had put together against him, he decided to work out a settlement with me instead of going in front of the judge. Wagner claimed he could not refund me in full, due to monies already paid out to other practitioners in his office. Based on this, and the fact that I'm someone who likes to take responsibility for my own part in a relationship, I agreed to settle for half, so I still lost a couple thousand dollars from this fiasco. After knowing Dr. Wagner since the1980's, I thought my point-of-view might help new patients have realistic expectations and create a context for the few negative reviews. Cost-Benefit of Being Treated by an Expert Healer You are choosing to go to one of the best healers in the world and it is not going to be cheap. You wouldn't expect get a BMW for the same price as a VW, would you? You go to an expert because others don't know how to help. I had an early case of chronic fatigue before there was even a name for it. I suffered for almost 10 years because all the other doctors I saw did not know what was wrong. I flew cross-country because I wanted my life back & wouldn't stop looking until I found a way. After my first appointment with Dr. Wagner, I walked out his office and started crying because I knew I had finally found someone who could help me. I was willing to spend every dollar I had to get better. What's it worth to you to feel better? If you're unwilling or unable to spend the money don't schedule an appointment. Expectations re Treatment For many of us, it takes years to create our illness. It's no surprise that it can take an equally long time to get healthy. That's why you end up seeing an expert like Dr. Wagner. I had no idea in the beginning how long. It took time for my body to release all of the toxins, heavy metals, etc. Slowly, my body started to heal. My point-of-view...there's no guarantee about time or healing. What I can tell you is that Dr. Wagner is committed to doing whatever he can do. Step by small step. He's even more committed than many patients. He's not going to give up. Bottom line...you're going to spend a lot more money than you think you will. Treatment is More than an Office Visit When you go to a doctor or dentist, diagnosis or treatment for an acute or chronic problem, includes laboratory tests, x-rays, filling prescriptions, etc. When you get supplements or other health related products from Whole Foods you wouldn't expect products recommended by staff to be free. I purchased almost every remedy recommended. In retrospect, it was always up to me. Dr. Wagner doesn't usually pay attention to whether you purchase the supplements or not. That was my decision. It took me a long time to be able to tell Dr. Wagner when I didn't want to see another practitioner in his office, buy another product or supplement, etc. That's on me. He's ok with your decision. Suggestions to minimize the expense. 1. Time and talking costs money. So...say hi, stick out your arm for muscle testing and shut up. The more you talk, the more likely you'll exceed the time for a single appointment and be charged for a double. 2. Although Dr. Wagner does the best adjustments of any chiropractor I've been to, that's usually not the reason you're going to him. Schedule an appointment with Dr. Jesse if you want an adjustment. 3. If you don't want to get customized orthotics, say, "not now". You can then get inexpensive non-customized orthotics online or at foot stores. 4. Take responsibility for your decisions. Don't expect others to take care of you when you're not willing to do it yourself. 5. If you don't feel comfortable telling Dr. Wagner you don't want or have the money to buy any of the supplements, extra services, or other items, tell the staff when you check out, "I'm not going to get X." You never have to buy anything you don't want or can't afford. Muscle Testing For those with minimal experience with muscle testing...it is not predicated on how much pressure it takes for your arm/let to move. One body part may take more or less pressure. It can also be difficult to get a read on some people. Sometimes surrogates are used because it's easier to read the energy with 2 people. And, honestly, if you're sensitive to energy like Dr. Wagner, muscle testing is not even needed with many people. Follow-Up Calls Don't expect a follow-up phone call. Yes, it would be nice but time-consuming given the number of patients who'd want more of his time and take advantage. Dr. Wagner works excessive hours, often speaking with clients having emergencies late into the night. If you have a problem that can't wait, initiate the call. Otherwise, wait til your next appointment. Don't blame Dr. Wagner for treating you like an adult. Excessively Optimistic Finally, understand that Dr. Wagner is excessively optimistic but doesn't have a crystal ball. Take it with a grain of salt, any time he say's things like, "this is going to cure you." That might be true but, in my experience, it is more likely that another level will get revealed that needs to be released on the next visit. He believes what he says. He has no other agenda. Unlike the rest of us, he just doesn't have a good filter. He has plenty of patients. He doesn't have to do anything to attract more patients. He is caring and compassionate but treats patients like adult, not children. read more

In 2015, I was extremely ill with one foot in the grave... Doctor Wagner was the only one, after many other medical tests at other doctors, who figured out that I was extremely seriously allergic to flouride. He figured it out in about 20 minutes. After I stopped using flouride toothpaste and flourinated water, I began to get my stregnth back in about three weeks. Also, I was extremly anemic and he was the first person in 34 years who convinced me to eat red meat. For the first time, my nails became strong and I became strong. I am not happy that I eat red meat, but I eat high quality meat and I am no longer weak. My moods also leveled out for the first time in my adult life. I've been coming to Dr. Wagner ever since my mom first took me when I was just a baby...I never looked back. Thanks to the adjustments, orthotics, supplements, etc. I've never felt better. I used to limp on my left side a bit, but after a few adjustments and wearing foot levelers to help balance me out, I've never felt stronger or walked better in my life! The supplements are also very nice, currently am taking multivitamins and heavy metal detoxification that will help me even more every day. Most chiropractors just fix pain...here it's way beyond that. Like, for example, sometimes one side of my body might be weaker than the other from head injuries and such. Those are fixed here, as opposed to only dealing with the pain as the main issue. It's just nice going somewhere where everyone goes above and beyond to make you healthier and stronger for every day life. It's taken a long time for me to actually write this review. I need to do this because I believe people need to be warned. My Husband, new baby and I traveled to see Dr. Wagner a few months ago. My reason for seeking his help is that I have been experiencing breathing problems-asthma-like- since my pregnancy. I've been through many MDs so I was excited to visit a holistic doctor. The receptionist was sprightly and the office is well taken care of. Dr. Wagners office looks over the beautiful ocean. Wonderful, huh!? When he was examining me, he had me lay down on a table and he said "press up on my hand with your leg". So I did. He wasn't pressing down very hard at all and my leg easily caused his hand to shoot upwards. He said "alright good". Then he did the same thing with my other leg. I could feel much more force from his hand pressing down on this side and obviously I couldn't press up as easily. He said "okay yep, your weak on this side, it's your liver". Inside, I was so upset he actually thought he was fooling me with his quick movements and different forces. But I nodded and said "oh really!? Wow!" Then, he went and got bottles of different vitamins and, one by one set them on my stomach. He thought about it and would say whether or not my body was deficient in that vitamin. It was complete and utter nonsense. Here's what really got me though- he had me look straight ahead and he said "I can see the whites of your eyes. You have impending doom." I was shocked he said such a thing. That's an old Japanese superstition. I can't believe he played on my already sad emotional state (from breathing poorly) to saY something urgent and shocking so I'll "need his services". I can't think of another reason someone would say something so vile and superstitious when you come to them for professional HELP. After this, I went out to the courtyard to breastfed my baby and I began crying. I was so confused. I decided to just go back in and finish the appt to pay. I think at that point I needed to get thru it so bad I totally just Pepped up and forced myself to believe he was good. So I did. At this time, my husband wanted adjusted by the different chiropractor so we did. He was great, actually. Honest and gentle. Thanks Dr. Jesse. By this time, it's like I was believing that "everything is good" to just survive. When it was time to pay, Dr. Wagner set out a lot of supplements he said i needed and shoes to buy. Sadly, we bought way too much supplements and bought the shoes. When I got home I realized that I shouldn't have bought all of the that stuff. I cried and got angry at myself for being so dumb. But, I forgave myself. This is what scam artists do to people. They play with your emotions. I took the supplements for a few months just as he mapped out. Nothing helped my issue. They were good for my general health though, of course. Not a surprise. The worse part was, this doctor never once called me to check in on me. Not once. Please don't seek help from this person. I love Dr. Wagner so much I really couldn't sing his praises highly enough. He literally saved my life and has done so much for my friends and family as well. Truly one of the most gifted healers on the planet. I love his staff as well and they will always be in my heart. I understand that not everyone will be open to his methods or understand them, but I must say I am shocked and saddened by the negative reviews on here. I've been going to Dr. Wagner for a little over 10 years now off and on. In that time, I've referred many people due to the value I received. I read a few of the posts where they seemed to be wanting an "Instant Fix" or didn't get the treatment they thought they should. I will tell you that true healing is not so easy. It takes commitment and time (depending on the issue) and most people these days want the quick fix and as cheap as possible! The people I've sent have had everything from minor to major issues and I told them that they'd have to trust him and if they had a fixed amount to spend, to let him know and you can come back another time. For those who are committed to their health, go see him and if you are not, don't. Since seeing Dr. Wagner, I have not had any sickness to cause me to miss work in over 10 years! After reading all of the reviews on Dr. Ed...it is important for me to lift my voice. I came to Dr. Ed around 1986. I was in pain, anemic with all the symptoms anemia presents...I had struggled with allopathic medicine for years taking the prescriptions, shots and so forth. I've seen a lot of alternative doctors over the years and this guy is the biggest scam artist I've come across. He is as one other reviewer mentioned the epitome of a snake oil salesman. He is a great salesman and has made quite a career out of convincing people he could fix them. Unfortunately I think he is just selling the placebo effect and as an unethical businessman will take you for as much money as he can get from you by preying on your hope. Like other reviewer Jonathan I naively trusted doctor wagner and was taken for thousands of dollars as he told me how "complex" my problem was and then he tried to refer me to as many other service providers in his office as possible and kept telling me I needed to come back to milk as much money as he could out of me. During my last visit I sat in his office for about half a day and listened to him talking to multiple patients. His act was very clear that day. Sometimes he would tell the same story to multiple patients. I truly believe he just says whatever magical explanation comes into his head when he sees you. And on days when hes less creative he just repeats that story to different patients. He should be investigated. wow. I have been waiting to complain about this DUDE for years..... I would leave this place along with friends, saying never again, what a rip off, what a fraud..... then before I knew it I was paying for silly meds, silly Gimmicks, and booking anothe r10 min session at silly prices..... I have been going to Dr. Wagner for a year now. I was in a horrible car accident, which left me with terrible back and neck pain. I could barely get out of bed without pain medication. After two weeks of treatment I felt 70% better. I currently am completely out of pain and still return to his office for follow-up treatments, acupuncture, massages, and nutritional guidance when I feel the need. He has truly changed my life, I am so happy I found his office! As for his office, he has a very friendly staff and a beautiful office, his office overlooks the ocean and when it gets busy there is a wonderful patio with comfortable chair/coaches, tables, and a relaxing fountain where I can wait. Regarding "Jonathan M"--I'm sorry but I feel like I have to comment on other people's reviews when things just don't add up. For example, jonathan M. said he went to a chiropractor who fixed his condition by 50% in 2 visits and then he spent 2 years and 31 visits with Dr. Wagner with "absolutely no relief" and then finally went somewhere else and had the problem quickly fixed.
