They want CASH! He charges $350 for the initial consult and $250 for telephone follow-ups, not even in-person. The office staff is very polite but run by the doctor. They have no ability to make any decisions without the doctor's involvement. The Dr. straight up told me they did not want to do a pre-authorization with my insurance because it takes too much time for them to complete. Really, every other doctor's office does it with no issues. I thought I would get better service here because I was paying all cash, but every time I called the office the staff screened the calls and the doctor had the staff call me back instead of talking to me. I did eventually talk to him, but I was done at that point. I felt like he wanted as little to do with me after leaving his office. I paid you $350 and to top it off you're a doctor dude, you're supposed to want to help people first and money second, right. He also pushes vitamins and other things to make him more money like vitamin b shots. Sorry, I came here for something very specific, not vitamin b shots. In the end, I was not impressed by his treatment plan. For me, he did not do anything I initially went in for, but my pockets felt much lighter after that for sure. As someone who's been living with gut problems for years, I truly never thought I would find a doctor who understood the root causes of what I was going through. I liked Dr. Rob's approach because it wasn't all alternative medicine, he comes from a medical school background at UCLA as well. Dr. Rob is truly a blessing. He is a unique doctor who actually thinks outside of the box. I lost faith in most Western Doctors a few years ago after having my gut tormented and cut open, when in reality, it was simply inflamed and infected due to improper diet. Actually, everyone in the office is awesome! There's parking in the back. You may have to feed a meter if you park in the front. After great discussions around our health, he made a few recommendations, which we immediately implemented. It has only been a couple of days, and I feel worlds better. Dr Krochmal is great! He is an MD but also has a background in nutrition, natural healing. You do have to pay more (and submit yourself to insurance) but what you get is a full length appointment lasting 1/2 hr to 1 1/2 hr where you can go over your whole health. I believe in everything in the body correlating to everything else and you have to take care of things from the root cause. Not just slap a medication onto a side effect. I have been to regular western doctors and usually my visit is about 5-10 minutes and they don't care about what is really causing the problem, just fixing the current symptom. He listens and answers all my many questions and seems knowledgeable and not only am I healing current maladies but I believe I am working on preventative care as well. My doctor search is over - hooray!!! I had seen a couple other holistic doctors (and spent 1000's of $$$, and wasn't improving) before finding Dr. Rob. I found him on Yelp, looked through the comments, went to his website and loved what I saw! Not only is he a Board Certified M.D. from U.C.L.A., but he has additional degrees in Nutrition and Integrative medicine. Every staff member I've dealt with has been incredibly helpful and kind. I've seen Dr Rob for years and I've been meaning to write a review from the beginning! Dr Rob is the best. I've seen countless doctors for all kinds of "mystery" illness' and aside from my acupuncturist, I've never gotten the care, attention and presence from an MD quite like I have from Dr Rob. Dr. Rob is a thorough, compassionate healer and one of the most progressive doctors I've consulted. I've visited many holistic doctors in the span of 10 years and each one provided one piece of the puzzle, but Dr. Rob got to the root because he is most up to date on modern studies and is thorough in his thinking of the body as a whole. He took time to review my case, my tests, and observe me over time to come to a conclusion. He was thoughtful with his advice, and never overcharged me. Like you and me, he has bills to pay and doctors have high costs to run their practice. But to address the negative review on here from someone who has never met him, he is not a doctor driven by money. He is a doctor driven to help people. And by the way, I'm not rich - far from it. I afforded Dr. Rob's fees by saving money and paying off his fee on a credit card because I believe my health is worth it. When people mention the cost of a visit, I wonder if they have health insurance? A visit to Dr. Rob is way less than some monthly insurance plans, most deductibles, and will save you tons of money in the long-run from seeing specialists with costly co-pays and experiencing the joy of having your health insurance deny claims based on what they think you need. I have spent 50% less choosing alternative medicine than when I was diagnosed with a disease and was paying tons for insurance, co-pays, medicines, procedures, etc. You've got to put it into perspective and ask yourself what is your health worth in the long-run? Disease is expensive to treat, why do you think we see so many pharmaceutical commercials dominating the market? It's a huge business thanks to patients being uninformed about how to properly care for and take responsibility for their health. The average doctor is not teaching people this, and isn't educated about modern health threats that are making people sick. For me, Dr. Rob has been a Godsend. He is highly educated and informative. Found this place through Groupon and it's a hidden gem! The staffs are very helpful and super friendly. I received a lot IV treatment for nutritional purposes and I have to say this is one of the better places to get it. I have been working with Dr. K for over 3 years now and he's a great doctor AND very personable physician. But keep in mind, this is not your typical 'in-n-out' doctors office. Integrative Medicine may be similar to a D.O. but in some ways even more holistic. So do some research 1st. I have found Dr. K to be safe, effective and responsive. He creatively solved a twenty year long medical issue for me which other docs could not solve. For me he has also been conservative about appointments, labs and testing. The earlier negative reviews sound like sour grapes or like they were looking for Dr. McDonalds or a concierge practice, not a holistic medicine practice. If you were looking for holistic medicine, why would you NOT expect supplements to be available at the clinic!? While mainstream medicine is not eschewed, the point is to use natural alternatives to pharmaceuticals when possible. If the doctor and staff offer supplements sometimes I say "no thank you" and that's the end of it. (Of course later, I usually find out through trial and error, I really needed the supplement). No one there has ever pushed anything on me. Also, Dr. K has been very available to my emails. Be reasonable, if you want a doctor at your 'beck and call', you have to go to a conciege clinic and pay 10k a year extra. Of course the staff handle most correspondence. What do people expect? He's sitting around waiting to answer every patient call and email? Regardless, Dr. K, compared with other docs, is extremely responsive. So I don't know whot these people are griping about. Also, being that it's holistic, of course they investigate the interplay of different physiological systems, which means a couple labs. Finally, at what clinic does the staff not answer to the doctor!? Give me a break?! Sounds like they were looking for a concierge clinic. Dr. K is a great holistic physician. Learn what integrative medicine is, realize he is the only M.D. there, adjust expectations and you will be rewarded with a good treatment experince. read more

I moved to LA from the east coast because of serious health issues, all stemming from some big mistakes during surgeries and from the wrong medications after. I came here seeking functional, integrative, holistic medicine doctors who would hopefully use a more personal approach and not just keep shoving medications and drugs down my throat. I went through hell and was treated like a number by many doctors over a period of years, which is depressing and frustrating. For any symptom or complaint was a new medication/drug, and never figuring out the root problems. I wanted to get off all medications and use nutrition, supplementation, hormone replacement therapy/balancing if needed, and long term solutions to improve my quality of life. I went to numerous doctors and there are many in this area thankfully, but ended up with Dr. Krochmal as my primary care guy. He takes a half hour or hour personally each appointment in a totally relaxed, non-doctor office like setting. He is so personal and actually really interested in helping you, sort of like a super friendly version of Dr. House. He enjoys trying to figure out stuff other doctors disregard or cant figure out. So I saw him and was having massive issues with my immune system, digestive system, low hormones, adrenal fatigue, chronic illness and fatigue, and overall was just in pain and miserable. I was on 6 or 8 medications many of them being narcotics-it was hell. Within 3-4 months using diet changes, supplements, vitamin injections and IVs, and balancing my hormones, I was off of all medications. He is also amazing that he coordinates care with other doctors if need be, taking the time to communicate with them also to make sure there is nothing he is missing or others within your medical care might need to know. I really cannot say enough about him, after being with him for two years it is like I have a new lease on life, am so much happier, healthier, and have been continuing to improve my health to levels other doctors would have never imagined or just plain didnt care. He also is the first doctor Ive met who seems to be continually keeping up on research in nutrition and supplements, always seeking better ways to do things naturally. He is SHARP and will whip research and explanations for things off the top of his head like it is nothing. His waiting rooms are stocked with books on supplements, nutrition, breathing, yoga, mind-body, fitness, all sorts of interesting stuff and its clear he actually has read them all! He is an Ivy League undergrad guy and UCLA med school with dual board certified in family medicine and a nutritional specialist. As wicked intelligent as he is, the biggest selling point is his personality and heart. If you have had issues where other doctors made mistakes, had poor bedside manners, rushed you in and out, didnt seem to listen to you or be open minded in figuring out whatever is nagging you looking at you as a whole person, I bet if you saw Dr. Krochmal you would be pleasantly surprised. He is worth every penny as well as any distance you need to drive, and I do drive a decent amount to see him but would not have it any other way. Even if I move from LA back to the east coast I plan on flying back and keeping him as my primary care doctor. It has been LIFE CHANGING. I wish my parents could see him from the east coast as well as friends who have lingering, nagging, or somewhat mysterious issues other doctors just throw medications at or tell you basically "hey your labs come out ok, nothing on the scans or X-Rays, so you are not dying just live with it"...you wont get that with Dr. Krochmal. I could go on and on...all I gotta say is please if you have something bothering you and have come up dry or frustrated with other doctors, make an appointment to see him. If you want to prevent issues or worry about possible genetic health problems that could impact you in the future, see him and do preventive work now. If you are an athlete, competitive or recreational, here is finally a doctor who understands things about working out, nutrition/diets, and supplements. Doctor Rob doesn't take insurance. However, I submitted a claim to my insurance on my own, and it paid 50% of the claim. I have never came across a doctor who would take my lab results and explain every numbers on the lab report to me. He suggestions on using food and vitamins to heal is awesome. My story is similar to those below. I started feeling bad about two years ago. And, since I eat right and exercise, this was very unusual for me. I had a lot of symptoms: bloated belly, dryness of skin, aching of joints, brittle hair, stomach pains (often very bad), back pains, loss of appetite, etc. Each month seemed to bring another symptom. I had x-rays and an MRI for my back, full blood and urine tests, an ultrasound of my belly (for possible hernia) and an utrasound of my ovaries (for possible cancer)...tons of money out the window. My G.P. kept saying my tests were "normal", that there was no sign of cancer, and that the MRI showed "nothing that would be symptomatic". I went to a back specialist, two ob-gyns, and a hernia specialist. I was scheduled for still more testing when a friend of mine recommended Dr. Krochmal. I figured, "what do I have to lose." I packed up all my test results, wrote down my two-year history, and drove 90 minutes. Turns out my test results were NOT normal, or even close. My hormone levels were so out of whack that I was 30% worse than the "normal range" listed on the results page--the SAME page my GP had seen and written "normal" on! Dr. Krochmal spent about 90 minutes with me. He didn't rush me. He listened, took notes, was sympathetic to my concerns, and then advised me...like a medical doctor is supposed to. His assistant sent a prescription for bio-identical hormones to a compounding pharmacy (while I was still in his office) and it arrived at my house the next day. I am now on a course to feeling better, thanks to him. Money is a concern for me. My husband has heart failure and the cost of his care (including medicine) is A LOT. But I can't neglect my own health. I made the decision to take a chance on Dr. Krochmal. Now I kick myself for not having done it sooner. I spent thousands of dollars on needless testing! I could have felt better two years ago and saved a small fortune. Oh, and at the end of our appointment, I said, "When should I see you again?"
