The Alton Antique Center is the antithesis of this! Its fun and bright as soon as you hit the doors. It smells fabulous inside and is like walking through a luxurious museum of the most amazing things from around the world. I was literally taken aback by how gorgeous it is inside. Their inventory is so far off the beaten path that even if you aren't in the market to buy antiques you should stop in and see the beautiful treasures they have brought together. They are open the first weekend of every month. They do an excellent job with social distancing. Masks are required. There is a hand sanitizer station set up at the front door. If you find a lot of treasures, they will hold them at the counter and give you a number while you shop. I just love supporting local vendors.

Great location right in…read morethe heart of Maplewood on Big Bend Blvd with a large parking lot right in the middle of their two shops. Loads of booths to explore in each site and if you need a restroom that is in the smaller building ;) Always something to find even when you aren't looking and yes some things are priced rather high, but that's what makes finding a gem for a steal even better! The staff working upfront are friendly and know the place really well so if you are looking for something specific they can help and aren't rude about it which is great!

I did, however, find at least one item I took a photo of and texted my friend about. The Chirping Frog is not far from Pink Elephant, which is a bit bigger and has better selection, though Chirping Frog is less cluttered and in some ways easier to shop.
