You also get decent heavy-duty single use plastic bags in abundance, unlike the flimsy sort you get in the store. Having said that you have to book a shopping slot at least a month in advance for popular times (e.g. Friday mornings), which does involve checking out a basket worth at least 50 quid. This is not as bad as it sounds because you can always add and subtract that basket right up to mid day on the day before delivery. Beware however that the website gets incredibly slow as this deadline approaches, so you're better off finalising the delivery the evening before.

The queues are never too bad and there are several basket only checkouts. There is also a cafe. It is uninspiring but functional.

The main store has just added self service checkouts these are rubbish (even worse than tesco) it really did not want me to have a cauliflower and the lad in charge of them did not know now they worked and wandered off regularly. The clothes department is now huge and good for casual and work clothes but lacks the party going out range that tesco provides. the rest of the store is much the same as before but the freezer department is tiny. Also the staff are a bit mean when I walked into a trolley the other day one of saw and laughed at me.

Upstairs holds a good range of childrens clothes but as there is only one (incredibly slow) lift for use with buggies and for shop syaff with trolleys, it takes an age to try to get up there! The other problem I have been seeing is a well known brand of something being missing entirely, replaced by an own brand product they are hoping you will grab instead. It is not the largest of sainsbury's but has everything you would want a newspaper/ magazine and tobacco area with seperate till, customer toilets and a great range of products in the main part of the store including a very nice bakery! One of thes best supermarkets within braintree town centre in my opinion!
