I have tried many hairdressers all over Sydney but have never been able to commit to just one. I find most hairdressers pretend to listen to what you have to say and then cut whatever style they are used to. I said no layers, miss. Oh you said no layers? I thought you said four layers. Too late, my bad. You can see my conundrum. Well that was until I was referred to Partners Hair. I made a booking with Joe (sometimes hard to come by) and prepared for the worst. But the moment I arrived ("Would you like some tea, coffee, water infused with strawberries ma'am?") I felt a connection to the place. Joe was wonderful. He was delightfully entertaining and all around chatty. It was like getting a haircut by your best friend. We talked about dancing, partying and our weekend hangovers that we'd been trying to put at bay, babies and boyfriends. I left feeling satisfied and confident in Joe's handiwork. Now I don't go anywhere else. I generally make appointments with Joe but have also tried Wissom, who is equally friendly and just as good with the scissors. They have a loyalty card where every three visits you receive something extra (free treatment, free product or free hair cut) and they send you birthday specials via text message. Once I even received a message for a discount haircut because they noticed I hadn't been in awhile (I'm lazy like that). If that is not true customer service, I don't know what is.

When it's time, it's TIME. Most recently, I found myself with hair reminiscent of the homeless lady that patrols Glebe Point Road, and so I set out to find someone to remedy it. A short Google search later, I discovered the nearby Partners Hair Workshop and BAM, booked for that afternoon. So first of all, they were doing a spectacular 30% off for first time customers, free deep conditioning special. What's more, I was offered a glass of white while I sat down for my consultation (which turned into 2, I mean, right?). My hairdresser Max listened closely to what I was after, gave some good input and got to work chopping. He worked quickly and amused me all the while with his stories of big nights out on Oxford St. As I slurped the last of my wine, he went to town with the blow dryer and about 5 round brushes to achieve the "bouncy" look. At the end of my appointment I ended up with a kickass haircut and a new possible best friend. It just took one wash to bring my 80s prom queen-esque styling into the current decade but I must admit, the cut was a great one- well shaped, good layering and the perfect amount of fringe. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the reviews were all correct! Great haircut, great services, very interested in what I did and did not want. Best part? We had nice conversations. The environment is encouraging and positive. All the staff were inclusive and friendly, and gave me the confidence to dye my hair the way I've always wanted to! I was nervous since I've wanted this look since I was a child, but never had the courage to go for it - but the staff all loved it and kept giving me compliments! I'm so happy! They even cut the ends of my hair for free since they wanted it to look good. Afterwards, they made sure I knew how to take care of my new look! I'll definitely come back if I ever come back to Australia in the future. :)

I was referred to Kobi by another hair stylist and I have been in love since. The team at Intershape is warm, welcoming and endearing. They make you feel at ease and like part of the family immediately. And I mean really like family. They are hilarious, loud, a bit of singing usually occurs and everyone has a great time. Plus I get a cheeky little drink or two or... while getting my hair done so what's not to love. Michelle does my extensions, Kobi handles my cut and color and everyone makes me feel welcome and it is a great experience every time I go. The team is a big on education and Kobi is always traveling and teaching or learning new tricks and bring them back to the salon to share with his hair family. I would honestly feel confident having any member of the team do my hair. When I started I was a fairly boring, corporate, brown with some high and low lights. Don't get me wrong, it looked great but after moving to Oz I was ready to kick up my hair. We did reds and even a hot pink shaved aside for about 2 years and recently I just transitioned to a beautiful silver/grey with extensions and I still have my shaved side. I think the best thin is that because they listen and get to know their clients they can really help evolve your hair as you evolve yourself.

I called Sasuke Hair Studio and they were able to accommodate me almost immediately- told me to come in in an hour! My flight was leaving to go back to America that night so I was very grateful they could get me in so quickly! I walked there from my hotel in downtown Sydney. It was only $45 for a deep conditioning treatment. Worth absolutely every penny. My hair smelled so good and came out absolutely amazing. It was sooo relaxing. The staff is absolutely wonderful. I sat down and explained to the owner from the beginning that I wanted an ombre and showed pictures of what I wanted, she didn't know what an ombre was and had completely damaged half my head when she just bleached the bottom half with no highlight or blending technique it just look ridiculous, then she told me this is what I wanted. I had to go to another salon to FIX yes FIX the damaged caused and they recommended the bleached part to be cut off as the bleach that she used was too strong and it damaged my long hair. cheapness comes at a price - I CRIED :(
