This is my local Walgreens, the staff is friendly and the store is pretty organized. This place does get busy so when there are times I want to buy a sale item, I end up getting a rain check. It's a 24 hour Walgreens. The drive thru is 2 lanes so we usually get our prescription drugs this route for pick up. The parking lot is not that big so you have to be careful turning around the corner of the building. They do have electrical car parking up front of you have those types of cars. read more

I am giving this walgreens a one star review, because I accompanied my sister so she could buy my father a father's day gift. She ended up buying him a pack of beer and when we went to the checkout, she was paying and then she had to get Id'd, obviously. And we waited for what i'm assuming is a manager to check it. After the lady came, she had grey hair, i'm guessing she's in her late 40's mid 50's. What did she do when she came? She asked for both of our ids and when my sister said i was her little brother, she kicked me out of the store, WHILE IT WAS RAINING. I find this extremely stupid, because by this logic, would she have kicked out a little kid? Anything can happen. She obviously had something against me because I saw her eyeballing me the moment i saw her. I believe she thought i was shoplifting because I have has other encounters with this lady. Overall this you should not come to this walgreens unless you want your child to be kicked out of the store while you checkout. read more

TL; DR: This Walgreens uses a call center to field phone calls. They were wholly incompetent when I dealt with them: I was told insurance wasn't covering the Rx, and there would be a 2-3 BUSINESS DAY delay to get an approval to get it covered. I told them to fill it anyway. However, the Rx WAS covered by insurance when I picked it up! (*Magic!*) The staff inside Walgreens couldn't explain what I was told, and said to ask to speak directly to the Addison Walgreens pharmacy staff in the future. Several days ago I called to refill my son's prescription. Yesterday (Friday, the day I was supposed to pick it up), I received a text stating it was delayed. This morning (Saturday) I called to ask why it was delayed and when it would be ready. I chose the option to "speak to a pharmacy staff" - who I presumed was the staff AT the Addison Walgreens. Apparently they use a CALL CENTER, which I later found out when I went to the pharmacy and spoke with the staff in person. The person I spoke with on the phone told me that the delay in filling my son's Rx was caused by the insurance company requiring authorization from my son's doctor that proves he needs these meds. I said, "This script has been refilled THREE times. Why would I have a problem now?" She told me she didn't know. I asked when the request for "authorization" was sent. She said it was sent to the doctor's office on Friday. I asked how long it typically takes to clear - and was told "48 to 72 hours, but BUSINESS DAYS." Like I said, today's Saturday. So the EARLIEST I could get my son's meds would be Monday IF I were lucky, but more likely Tuesday or Wednesday. He is on a high dose 2x per day and he took his last dose this morning. We were all out! He simply cannot miss several doses. I told her to "put the Rx through and I'll pay for it and deal with the insurance company later." She told me the full price of his Rx is $155 (insurance has always covered $105 and I pay $50). I reiterated that I wanted it filled because he NEEDS the meds. She told me to keep my receipt, and "when the authorization comes through, bring your receipt back to Walgreens and we'll refund you the difference if it's within 7 days. If it's longer than 7 days, you'll have to go through your insurance." She told me the Rx would be ready in one hour (so 11:45am). I had other things I needed to take care of, and got to the pharmacy around 2:30pm. I was told the Rx was NOT ready, but would hopefully be done by 5pm. I was told the cost was $50. Huh? I thought I was about to pay 3x that due to this supposed insurance debacle. I relayed the conversation I had earlier about insurance not covering it without authorization, and the Rx being ready within an hour. The staff was visibility perplexed. That's when I was told they use a call center. So, they said they'd call when the Rx was ready, which I appreciate. (1.5 hours later..) I paid the $50 I have previously paid, and insurance picked up the rest. I can't help but be aggravated about what I was told by the woman at the call center, because it was ALL incorrect! Had I listened to her and waited the 2-3 business days for this alleged "authorization," there would be bigger implications with my son's health. I am NOT okay with that. read more

This isn't a review for this particular location but for Walgreens in general. As a matter of corporate policy, it seems that the priority is to keep labor costs down at the expense of the customer. Why? Because every single time I shop at Walgreens I can't help but notice how annoying the checkout process is. There just never seems to be enough registers open and the lines aren't clear, which inevitably leads to conflict or friction with other patrons and wasted time. It's an unconscionable policy to ask their employees to keep themselves busy at all times because this necessarily impacts the customer in a negative way. Even when there are no other customers around I still end up wasting MY TIME at the register waiting for an employee to stop stocking/cleaning/organizing or whatever it is they happen to be doing at the moment to come tend to me. So Walgreens, are you asking me to put up with this hassle so you can save a few bucks on a cashier? Get lost. I'm taking my business elsewhere. read more

I used to defend Walgreens a lot as I was a senior pharmacy tech for years. However, the new store set up isn't just a facelift. Techs are now unable to do the simplest tasks. I've had the same name and phone number as a patient and an employee, but the last 3 times my doctor has sent an e-script or called in a new Rx, they've created a new profile for me with all the same information, but no insurance. And it is to stores I regularly pick up prescriptions at. They are also unable to accurately update addresses and new insurance. The phone systems takes way too long to speak with someone capable of solving any problems that a regular tech should be able to fix in less than a minute. After this last fiasco, I'm taking 15 years worth of business elsewhere. read more

Do yourself a favor and NEVER come to the pharmacy here. I was told to wait and I'd be called within 25 minutes to pick up my script and pay at the counter. I sat down, waited half an hour, and decided to go back to the counter to check the status of my prescription. I was told that it "must've slipped through the system" and that I'd have to continue waiting. Basically they never even put it through to be processed. If you love to wait in line and get poor service then this Walgreens is for you! First and foremost the pharmacy should be top notch, it is NOT. My latest experience there led me to writing this yelp review. My physician phoned in a prescription. The pharmacy couldn't fill this prescription because their computers were down. They then sent me to the Walgreens in Itasca. At that pharmacy I was told they could not access the prescriptions from the Addison Walgreens. I then had to call my physicians office and have them re-send the prescription to the CVS in Wood Dale. Because that original prescription was sent to Walgreens my insurance company showed it as being filled and would not authorize paying for another prescription. I ended up paying for it out of pocket (it was only $25 and do you really want to wait to fill an antibiotic when you have an ear infection?). I have also always had to wait at their photo counter. Worst walgreens and customer service ever. The drive thru is a joke. There is zero reason to be this dysfunctional. The staff has an attitude. You spend 45 minutes waiting behind 2 cars, finally it's your turn and they most likely walk away to do something else. Line inside or not. They also don't PT attention and will only help one of the 2 lines ( they only helped the line closer to the window and were ignoring the other line until people started to blare their horns. This I have also seen many times) and in top of all of that, they have the WORST answering service for the pharmacy. They are down right rude and judgmental! My doctor calls in my prescription early because she's only there a couple days a week and if she doesn't then she might call it in late. ( it's for anxiety) I have told them this over and over. If I call to ask something unrelated and they see that, BOOM! Long rude lecture about how I'm attempting to break the law being filling my prescription early and basically talking to me like I'm trash and hinting that I have a "problem". How dare they. When I actually speak to a pharmacist there, it's fine. They understand and there's not a problem. But you have to demand to speak to one to get one. They will fight you and even say "ok whatever but they are just going to tell you the same thing.... over dramatic crazy..." and then they switch over. They do not care if you hear them insult you. They do not get in trouble. The pharmacist said they have no control over how the call center treats you. That's right. I said CALL CENTER! so when you click the speak to a pharmacist button, you don't. You get this garbage call center. Zero medical experience. No certificates or anything to show they are qualified for this sort of work. yet they have access to my medical history AND judge me/ treat me like garbage because they don't know how to READ THEIR OWN NOTES ABOUT IT! Since I've explained over and over! I only go to this location because it stays open late but It's beyond ridiculous at this point. I will be looking for a new pharmacy. Save yourself the trouble and go ANYWHERE ELSE! Walgreens needs to fire this entire staff. When you call for the pharmacy at Walgreens, you now get sent to a call center. There is no way around it except to call the store, say you DON'T want the pharmacy, then ask whoever picks up the phone to transfer you. Why is the call center a problem? Let me tell you: 1. They put you on hold for longer than the pharmacies ever did. "Your estimated wait time is 1 minute" equals 10-15 minutes of hold time. 2. They have absolutely no idea what they are doing. They cannot tell you the names of medications, cannot pronounce them correctly, and routinely tell me that prescriptions are ready to be filled when they aren't or vice versa. 3. They are incredibly rude. There's nothing quite like being yelled at and berated about how recently a prescription was filled by a woman with an almost unintelligible accent who doesn't even know what the medication or dosing actually is. 4. They lie to you. On multiple occasions, I have asked to be transferred to the store, and they usually do it, but around every fourth time, they just send you to another rep at the call center. I just had the rep at the call center directly lie to me and tell me that she was in the store. When I figured out that she was lying, I asked to be transferred to the store and she hung up on me. My apologies to the actual store in Addison, which I have never had a direct problem with, but now that calls directly to the store are routed through an absolutely awful call center, Walgreens pharmacy has become far more trouble than it is worth. As I said in the beginning of this review, just call the store, hit "0", then say "NO" when asked if you are calling for the pharmacy. read more

This Walgreens is very busy at all times it is hard to get any type of questions answered from the pharmacist, people here are pretty erratic when driving in the parking lot, so be careful when you were backing out because more than once I've had it incident where someone was literally driving into my car the parking situation over here is not the best. read more

I went there on 12/10/2019 at 10:09am. I had a manufacturers coupon from Olay. The clerk said she would have to get the manager, She got the manager and scanned the coupon. The amount came off the register correctly and the manager was deciding whether the coupon was good or not. She made me feel like I was dishonest. I explained that I received it in the mail because I had called Olay because of an issue with the product and Olay sent me the coupon. Then another person came to the register to question it. I am 68 years old and I was feeling very sad and angry at this point. I have used manufacturers coupons in the past and never was questioned like I was in court . If the register takes the coupon there is no problem. Walgreens needs to get someone with at least an IQ of 100 to be a manager. I will never return to this store to purchase anything again. I hate going to this drive thru. Most times, there is only one person at the drive thru. You ask for your meds and it takes them 5-30 minutes to come to the window. It's getting worse and worse rather than better. We stopped in to pick up my sister's meds. She spoke with them and advised even though her cough syrup wasn't covered by her insurance, she still wanted it. That was almost 3 hours before we went to pick it up. When we finally got to the window, we were advised they didn't know if she wanted it so it will take about 10 minutes and please come around. We waited and called my sister. She advised she told them yes. After 12 minutes, we went back to the window. It still wasn't done. We advised her that they knew she wanted it and why wasn't it done. The response was that their system was down and they were still playing catch up. She asked us to go around again. We went right back around and sat behind someone that refused to go around for another 30 minutes. We finally got the meds at closing time. Had my sister not had bronchitis and Influenza A, there is no way I would have stayed. As it was, she was without her meds for over 24 hours while there system was down. This is my local Walgreens and I spend more time there than I should. This has nothing to do with my needs ,but how long I wait in line to pick up a prescription. Every time in the last year I have gone, it is no less than 15-20 minutes. Even if there is only one car in front of me. The staff is always very nice, but they are clearly overworked. They man the inside counter as well as the drive through. Often when I pull up there is no one at the window and I have to wait and wait for service. Even when I go inside, I wait and wait in line. They need better staffing in the pharmacy section! read more

When calling this store it goes directly to an automated service, then gets kicked into a call center where no one has updated information. Trying to get a prescription filled here is a nightmare, the drive thru is worse.
