Staff was friendly - even during odd hours of the night - "You have no toiletries?" (Clearly she knew we were tourists.) We explained the whole missing bags thing to clear that up. They had everything we needed - clothes included - because who knows how long before our bags get delivered! Prices were reasonable - none of the tourists rates some places charge. What made it better is that it was only a couple of blocks away from our hotel. We returned a couple more times during the week for more basic stuff - mostly snacks, water and other rehydrating drinks. What I mostly appreciated is how conveniently located it is. In the situation we were in, we were grateful for it being where it is!

We ended up choosing a terracino, which was a wedge of roasted almond ice cream. I was greeted by one of two attentive cashiers and wasting no time my prescription was being filled. What stood out was their fast pace service without the chaos. That was very impressive. After 15mins I was walking out the door with my meds. Delta Drugs also has bandages, canes and many other first aid meds available on the shelves. The actual pharmacy is small but their inventory is large.

They offer all the standard items of convenience stores from snacks, drinks, lottery in addition to household basics, medicines and of course, souvenirs and NOLA specific goods. Pricing here is a bit high, but that is not surprising. They know they are in a prime location and when you come here, you are paying for convenience. The store needs some TLC conditionally, and a little bit more attention to cleanliness wouldn't hurt. Service was super friendly and welcoming, which was a redeeming quality for this location. Overall, solid 3.5, but the cashier really made our day. We wandered in for a soda and drink, and got what we were after, but if we needed more than that, we would probably go elsewhere due to price point. But again, this spot came in clutch when needed.

I do not get CVS…read more For the life of me I cannot understand the layout of CVS. I have been to many of their locations and they all seem very oddly designed. The shelves are too low and I can't figure it out. If you are one of the folks who does get the layout, feel free to call me a moron and enjoy your shelves designed for little people. This location has all the quirks of a typical CVS, but it also seems incredibly run down. I am not sure how long it has been there, but it feels old, has a dirty parking lot, and doesn't feel like a place I want to shop. I stopped in here to get some hand sanitizer and some snacks. I was successful in getting these things, but it was not a very pleasant experience. If you're in Destrehan and need a drug store, I would probably seek out a Walgreens. I haven't found one yet, but surely it is better than this CVS.
