I've been going to Castellon for over twenty years. Today, I had an appointment for a COVID vaccine. First off, they messed up and had me down for a flu vaccine. Second, they failed to verbally inform me prior to receiving the vaccine that it was going to cost me over $300. Had they done so, I would have held off and considered another option. The confirmation email said nothing about cost, I have never paid for one at Castellon before, and I have the exact same insurance that I did last year when I got the COVID vaccine. I really wanted to support a small pharmacy, but what a mistake that was. These are the rudest people I've come in contact with in a long time. They go out of their way to let you know you're an inconvenience to them any time you walk in or call. My favorite thing they did was refuse to fill my prescription "because my insurance wasn't paying for it." My insurance literally had receipts. Whatever. Now I've finally switched to Walgreens but I had one last prescription there that they owed me 15 on and now they're refusing to transfer that to Walgreens. What a nightmare. I've been very disappointed with the service at Castellon. They treat me like an inconvenience, frequently forget to include my father-in-law's refrigerated medications, and the women at the service counter are increasingly rude to my wife and treat her like a drug-seeker. I really want to use this pharmacy, as I like using local businesses and I live so close. However, the employees who work the cash register act as if you are inconveniencing them with any interaction- big or small. I have given them numerous chances with numerous staff and it is always the same, they won't even exchange small talk but just ignore that you've even spoken. The customer service combined with the limited hours and numerous issues I've had getting prescriptions (I'll ask for delivery and it's never delivered, will tell me that they will have a med ready at a certain time only to later tell me they don't have it when I go to pick it up) makes castellon not worth the hassle. Pharmacist "practicing medicine".. So disappointed about my last few interactions at Castellon. Scott, the pharmacist has gone back and forth on reasons to fill, not fill and then fill my medication. At the end of December he looked at the script and said that I waited too long fill it. Not that it's old, it's completely valid, but that something else must be going on because I've waited too long. -I didn't take as much. He said I would need a new prescription to get it. -I emailed my doctor and he mailed me a new script. I took it back to Scott and they took it. And then a woman called me hours after I left. She said my doctor is not in NOLA so they can't fill the order. -Ive had it filled there before with the same doctor. Then she said I mean where else have you been getting it? -No where She continued to say that because the doctor was out of town it wouldn't be possible. -Not true. Scott told me to get a new script because of the timing. I specifically got a new script and this one was it. I think she or he realized that they were getting their policies mixed up. Scott then got back on the phone and said they would fill it but this would be the last time. -This was definitely the last time. His actions went too far. I checked every box as far as this prescription goes. I've taken this medication for a long time. Pharmacists are overwhelmed because of how messed up DEA is and I get that. However, if I come to you with a valid prescription and you say you can fill it then, make an executive decision that you won't, I will report you. If you keep unnecessarily delaying my refill I will report you. If you withhold because you believe my doctors clearly, written script should be taken another way, I will report you. If anyone has a pharmacist weaponizing a valid script you can go to the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy. pharmacy.la.gov They have a complaint form that I will be filling out. It's a great pharmacy! However, for months now, one particular cashier has been so unkind to me! I really try to meet her where she's at but sometimes it ruins my day. Not to mention, the medication I'm picking up for myself is psychiatric. Just imagine how hurtful her attitude could be to someone going through a hard time. Just scheduled a couple vaccinations on Castellon's easy and efficient scheduling portal on their website. Highly recommend using Castellon not only for extremely competitive medication pricing but also friendly service and the wide selection of products. On the last point I've always found it amazing that they carry so many Items I use such as Meyers dish, laundry, and hand soap, JR Watkins hand soap, tea tree shampoo, and so many other specialty items, which I'm told they base their inventory selection on customers' requests. I should have followe my instincts from my first horrible encounter with the "pharmacist" - Benidito (sp) I do not have the card and have my foot in a boot -- but the pharm was 2 blocks away and I needed my pain pills for a horrible fall (to the back of my head onto the sidewalk) and a small fracture in my foot which is now in a boot. Long story short, the "co owner" with whom I had a prior issue told me I needed to find a pharmacy that would "take care" of my needs, insinuating, once again, that I was a drug addict. I am 69 years old and in a lot of pain or I would never have tried to get my Rx (From Touro, no less, where I spent 2 days due to the fall. I was almost hysterical and told the jerk that he would burn in hell (and I'm not religious). He laughed and said, he probably would but it certainly would not be for this. The more I visit Walgreens, the more I can appreciate Castellon. The stock is way better priced, and the staff is much better trained. Trained NOT in caring, as one can not be taught to care, but trained in customer service. But I'll let you in on a secret of these and other New Orleans cashiers----they can be cracked! I love this place. It's like going back in time (just 20 years ago) before the Walgreens/CVS/RightAid stores blew up (sometimes I'll forget which one I'm in - they're all the same!). The staff is hit or miss. I've met some of the nicest people, and others that didn't seem interested in anything at all. But, the nice ones make it worth it. Decent prices on most things and you'll find some items they just don't sell anywhere else - even double-edge razors. This is one of the tried and true mom and pop pharmacies that is still around. Some a-hole tripped me during a kickball game and I skinned up my knees something awful. They got all nasty and infected. I knew about this special wound dressing used after surgeries and such, and went searching for it. Called all the big name box stores and no luck. Also no help as to where I might find it. Tried castellon and got the manager. He said he might have some, put me on hold and searched and searched to find it. When he finally did he realized that it was expired and he wouldn't be able to sell it. A few hours later, I got a call from him (guess he has caller id) and he said that even though it was expired it might work and he would be happy to give it to me rather than throw it away. Each sheet or dressing is almost $20. No way you are gonna find that kind of service at these big chain stores. Walgreens on Carrollton/Claiborne is positively the worst. I have had such a negative experience with a pharmacist at this pharmacy, I swore to never set foot in there again. Trying to refill a sleeping aid, I was "questioned" (I would say grilled) as to how many I had taken, how many I took each night -- by a pharmacist (I assumed) in a higher level of the check out area, in a voice loud enough for everyone in that area to hear. I am a 68 year-old stage 3 cancer survivor and felt as though I was treated as some sort of druggie. This person was rude and disrespectiful beyond belief. I do not question procedure in these "controlled" drugs, i.e.Lunesta 1 mg, but I certainly do not appreciate being treated so rudely and my medications being discussed in a public forum. Sadly, in my opinion,this place has really deteriorated since it was sold. I will never, every patronize this pharmacy again. read more

Friday & Saturday-No bueno. So no one likes likes to go to the pharmacy right? I needed a compounded prescription so I had to go to a specialty pharmacy that could make the prescription. I called around and found Castellon pharmacy. Well I am really had high hopes when I drove up and saw it. It's located on very busy Oak Street but it has its own parking lot so I was like 'nice'. I walked into the store and it really reminded me of the pharmacies of my youth everything cluttered lots of stuff and the prices appear to be on par with what you pay it at Walgreens or whatever. I walked up to the woman at the counter who is very helpful. She took the prescription she took my name she took a copy of my drivers license and insurance card. She asked if I was going to stay to have it filled or if I would come back I told her I would come back for it the next day. So Saturday I get up, battle my way down Carrollton, get to the pharmacy and first the girl cannot find the prescription she can't find it by last name, first name, by birthday nothing. While I'm standing there trying to explain the prescription a young woman helping another man yells out across the pharmacy so do you want the Levitra or do you want the Viagra? Now I'm not going to make a scene or turn and look at this man sideways because hey, you know what? Do you bruh (actually do HER. Or HIM) However she never should've yelled out the medicine whether or not she knows what it's for or who it's for. I mean you just don't do that. You're handling people people's private business and people could be having prescriptions filled of the sensitive nature and she pretty much just put that guy on blast. I thought that was extremely unprofessional and possibly even a violation of some patient privacy act. So my girl comes back sorry we can't find it and I said well that's bad because I at least need my paper prescription back the woman took my information and my drivers license my insurance card the prescription and she goes back to talk to the pharmacist again. Finally she comes back and says 'We found it and the doctor didn't tell us what the quantity was therefore we couldn't fill the prescription'. And I'm thinking to myself well you could've called me to say that the prescription would be delayed especially when the woman told me that it COULD be ready while I waited. Oh well. read more

My business dealings with pharmacies has been over a long period of time. And I have been to this drug store in the past for non prescription medication. My past experience was positive. For reasons that are not part of this review I have moved my prescription medication to Castellon. The off street parking is very convenient. The staff has been in all my visits very helpful and friendly. They do make every attempt to make sure you get what you want. One thing they do and I appreciate this to high heaven is call you back when they tell you they are going to call you back. That is important to me. And the other major factor that has raised my review to the level of a Five Star is what happened when I paid for my prescriptions today. The same medication with the same insurer cost me $80.00 less than my previous pharmacy. That is $80.00 out of what I have to pay with insurance and I am very happy I have made the switch to Castellon. Convenient location with free off street parking, friendly personal service, return of phone calls, and charged me less than my previous pharmacy for the same medicine. The store itself is fine, but quite frankly, I'd rather pay a little more at a different store and be treated with respect. I know the cashiers at Walgreens at Rite-Aid by name, and they're always helpful and polite. This was my first visit to Castellon, and it will be my last. The cashier charged me for an item I didn't buy. I saw it on my receipt and went to get a refund. The first thing she said when I pointed out the charge on the receipt was, "I can TELL you that ain't it (the item I didn't get)." When she had scanned every item I left the store with, and the one I'd chosen not to buy, huffing rudely at me the whole time, she finally admitted that she'd overcharged me... but didn't apologize, and tried to make ME look like the jerk for trying to get my money back. After I swiped my card for the refund, I forgot to hit the "done" button on the screen, because all I wanted was to get out of there. I'd just about hit my daily limit for rudeness. Instead of saying, "Please hit the 'done' button, thank you for shopping at Castellon, have a lovely day," or any of the things you'd expect someone who belongs in customer service to say, she picked up the stylus and started stabbing spots on the screen at random as though the screen had just treated her the way she'd treated me, because heaven forbid she actually SPEAK to a customer unless she absolutely has to. I really like Castellon Pharmacy. I had one experience in particular where a doctor had prescribed an expensive medicine, but it came with a discount card so it was only supposed to cost $25. Castellon had to get in touch with my doctor and the insurance company for authorization. It took a day or so, but they saw it through and got me the medicine at the discount price. I don't think any chain pharmacy would have put as much leg work in. I like the selection of items they have in the store. And I think the staff is very friendly and helpful. read more

I fired the Walgreens on Napoleon and Claiborne because they were arrogant, racist, rude, and just the "who gives a crap" about the customer!!!! I was treated like an inconvenience to many times! I ALWAYS had to wait and I must add that, this was not the way it was in out of town Walgreens! My last visit was the corker, I complained to the manager (with no satisfaction) and only got madder!
