We were pleased to find most of our shopping list items (fresh fruits, deli meats and cheeses, bread, soy milk, trail mix, tissues, and beer). The only thing that they didn't have was shelf-stable soy milk, which we prefer to refrigerated milk when we travel in the RV given space constraints. The store was clean and well-organized. The check-out cashier was friendly, efficient, and accurate. Parking was free and plentiful. One oddity was that you need to deposit a quarter to get a shopping cart, returnable when you return the cart. BUT, I didn't have a quarter with me so I had to fill and carry my shopping bag as I shopped. I'm sure it wasn't their intention but it served as a deterrent to over-shopping as I'd have to carry any spontaneous selections! We would return to this store if in Galesburg again.

When you walk in there is the chips, snacks, chocolates in the first row then beer in the back along the refrigerated wall. There is milk, cheese, hummus, etc. An unusual amount of pet food and accessories like dog beds as well as housewares that take up 1-1.5 aisles. Maybe 4 aisles total in this Aldi.

They made an announcement on their Facebook page around the 4th of July that they were closing down until November. Wow!! Between the first time I went there and now I found that either they wouldn't be open on the day I would be in Monmouth (40 minutes for me), or I'd see on their Facebook page that they would be sold out of everything in their case on any given day, sometimes very early in the day while I might have made it out there that afternoon, with nothing available, or even finding them closed bc they sold out. I wasn't looking for entire cakes, etc., but it would have been nice to go in early or mid afternoon and find a decent variety of choices for maybe $20-$25 worth of pastries. It was just too far to travel to find nothing available or that the doors were closed. They did seem to have a steady business on special orders........cakes for showers, birthdays, etc., but they seemed to also want to be a good walk-in bakery. I didn't find them to be that and now it is clear they won't be doing any business whatsoever for the next 4 months. That is just very odd/sporadic. Even if I lived in Monmouth I would find the store kind of irritating with its unpredictability. Hard to give your business to a business like that. I'm truly not sure what they want to be, or even "if" they want to be anything.

I usually receive good service, but I did have one week where an older woman did my nails, and I wasn't thrilled. I thought she filed my nails unevenly. The last time I was there, one guy started to remove my gel polish...then asked me to move over a chair, and he started with a new client. I waited over 15 minutes before another guy came to finish my manicure. I didn't say anything because I was wanting to see why they made me wait, how they handled my lengthy wait, etc. I m guessing an appointment came in, and they bumped me for her. Fortunately I was able to wait it out. But I - and most others - don't appreciate being pushed aside; it's poor service to start with a client if you know you have another coming in shortly. I guess I'll see if I have any more service issues and need to look elsewhere. As for the manicure itself, everyone has done a beautiful job (excluding what I noted above). I usually ask for a leopard print mail on each hand, and it always looks great!

Update: Shipping to Hawaii is a issue. The smallest box is the 14.50 flat rate. Too bad, can't touch dat.
