So you better believe we stock up when we come here! This year, we happened to be in Iowa City during Black Friday and we decided to brave the crowds and go to Costco. To our surprise, it was not as chaotic and crowded as we thought it would be. I'd say it was a typical crowd that you would see on a Sunday, maybe a tad more shoppers. We stocked up on all of our essentials in preparation for the winter season and now our fridge and pantry are well filled. We even snagged a box of 24 cans of Spindrift for $9.99 which is absolutely the best deal we've seen for Spindrift. We also got a huge cut of New York strip steak for $7.99 per lb which will last us for months! All in all, this Costco is well stocked, well organized, and clean. The lines move pretty quickly, especially since they have a self-checkout and regular check out line. Service is efficient and there is a covered parking lot with lots of parking spaces. We are happy with our haul and will be back the next time we're in the city :)

(As a mom of two with an insanely packed schedule, delivery is essential.) Alas, it's available now for online shopping and pickup! I ordered on a Friday morning and picked up my order later that afternoon. (Pickup is available for any order over $30.) The online interface is great! Compared to Hyvee and Walmart I'll make the bold statement in saying it is the best. I say this because there are plenty of deals at Fareway (buy this item and get this item free) and 1) it shows your these deals seamlessly but also, 2) you're able to see the discount in your cart right away! Pickup slots are right out front, directly outside the front door. Just push a button on your confirmation email to say when you're leaving or there. When I went back today to get the missing item, I showed them the receipt that showed the purchase but they said they would need to look at their camera footage to be able to tell what happened. Hy-Vee would never have asked for that and would have just replaced my item. At the end of this experience the clerk then told me I must have forgotten to put the item in my cart, even though their employee had been loading the cart. I will not be back...

The meat department is always rocking with butchers who have been in staff for many years. They have a great supply of meats, and they are always ready to cut a piece of meat to size. If you need help taking your purchase to your car they are always ready, and I do mean always. Nice place to shop if you're ready for good prices without all of the fluff.
