I don't think I've ever had an interaction with a brand name pharmacy that made me go "I need to leave a review," but I must say, this team of pharmacists and technicians went above and beyond to resolve an issue with the insurance company (my son's name was incorrectly input by my employer), so my son could get his meds. I have a different experience than these other reviewers, possibly due to the situation. I had never called a pharmacy to prescribe medication, but the pharmacy techs and pharmacist made it simple. As soon as they took down the information they needed, they started filling the prescription right away, and it was ready as soon as I arrived, no more than 10 minutes later. All the patient, prescriber, and insurance info were taken over the phone, so the in-person transaction was quick and easy. Thank you so much to the pharmacy team. Absolutely the worst experience with the pharmacy staff. Suspecting I was exposed to someone with COVID, made an appt. to get tested. Before doing so, I called both of my insurance companies and I was assured that testing was covered at Walgreens. I show up an hour later at this location and Im told I have to pay. I inform the pharmacist I have insurance and she said I didn't check the box when I made the appointment (as if that should matter, I do in fact have insurance though). She suggested I make another appt. (another hour later) and check the insurance box. I told her there was no place for me to add my insurance company when making the appointment. Then her response changed to, well you have to pay for it then. I asked why if I have insurance. She said it must not be covered. I told her I called and verified it before making the appointment. She said even Walgreens employees have to pay for testing....WHAT? Im not a freakin' Walgreens employee...why compare me to them!! I have two major insurance plans and I have to pay? She refused to even look at my insurance cards and cancelled my appointment. Absolutely insane!! No customer service skills, no problem solving skills. Just shrugged and said go away. One of the worst customer service experiences ever. I called to ask about my Rx that I had been waiting on for two weeks, and kept getting the run around. Then all of a sudden, the tech says, "I can't hear you", and hangs up on me. When one second before all was fine. So I drive there and ask about the Rx again. The tech says, "we don't have it. Just go to our competitor." She didn't even look at the computer to check which I was talking about, didn't go to the back, just rude. I did take their advice, I'm now with CVS. read more

I work a full time job and do all errands for my mother who doesn't live with me but is home bound. On Saturday, February 26thI traveled across town in the rain in 40 degree weather, to fetch my mothers medications. It is quite difficult for me during the week as I happen to be a law abiding tax paying citizen with a full time job and a family. I have had several issues with Walgreens not filling prescriptions on time or other issues where they couldn't fill them for one reason or another but made no attempt to contact us BEFORE I have traveled across town to fetch the medications. They also could never get the medications ready for one day, making me make several trips a month instead of getting the medications on the same schedule. This, by the way, is what Walgreens advertises in commercials on TV. My last straw with Walgreens is today when I showed up at noontime to get my mother's medications and the pharmacy is CLOSED, on a SATURDAY! This has several implications. First, one of the medications I traveled across town in the rain to receive, was an anxiety/suicidal medication that can only be filled after a certain day because it is addictive and controlled. This means, when I pick up the medication, she is down to her last pill or two. Since I was unable to make it across town yesterday, I chose to go today to get this medication. When this medication is missed, it can cause severe anxiety and suicidal actions and it is not wise to hold this medication hostage from an elderly lady. I am forced to go back to the store tomorrow and try to retrieve these medications because I have no other choice. We are then transferring all her prescriptions to HEB across the street. A few of my friends have already transferred their prescriptions from Walgreens to Walmart and HEB because of ridiculousness of using Walgreens in the last few years. This has been an ongoing issue with Walgreens that has not been corrected and I am forced to follow suit and take my business else ware to a company that has their act together. ** Update, I returned to Walgreens on Sunday at approximately 11:00AM to pick up my mother's very important medicine. I waited in the drive through lane for approx. 5 minutes, was given all her medication. One note, for some reason Walgreens is no longer putting the name on the medication on the outside of the bag so while sitting in the drive through to make sure that the ONE medicine that she absolutely needed was there. It was not, so I told them, the one medicine that she had called on Thursday and was told it was already filled but could not be released until Saturday, was not there. I told the person at the drive through and was told, they were closed yesterday so they never filled it and that they don't fill it until the date they can release it which was Saturday. Well then it was NEVER going to be ready on Saturday or Sunday UNTIL I went to the pharmacy and requested a refill and WAITED! I was told I CANNOT wait in the drive through and had to come inside. I said I am NOT coming inside because WALGREENS has wasted a lot of my time this weekend. She said there is no line inside, well guess WHAT??? There was a LONG line inside. End of Story, my mother is calling HEB today to transfer all of her prescriptions to a pharmacy that actually can FILL prescriptions read more

The Walgreens pharmacy at 901 Bitters is awful. In the last year since ins made us move, auto filling scripts I said no to auto. Showing scripts picked up that were turned down (ins fraud?) Went to hospital Thursday per doctor for high potassium. Sent home, script called in. Friday afternoon I call to check. It'll be Monday maybe. What? Well in came in after 5:00pm Thursday and we didn't order it until about an hour ago. It's 3:15pm. Ok, I get it came after 5:00, but they sat on it most of the next day too? Ugh! I hate this Walgreens! Gah! The parking here sucks. It's tight, and there aren't enough entrances and exits. The cashiers here are always the slowest. The prices aren't always that great. The photo department is so slow, it'd be faster to have a painting done. They do have a beer section, which includes Iron City (?) beer, which isn't bad. I go here because it's close to home. And I choose Walgreens for photo service because of the convince online/app order. However, Walgreens photo service is a joke. Do not order photo book from here. Binding is cheap. Cover is literally a photo glued to the hard cover book. Also photo products are not complete on time, yet I still received an email confirming my order was ready for pick up. Staff was eager to help so I do appreciate the manager working to fulfill my order as a well as Yolanda. However, my real complaint is with Walgreens as a company. I called about 7 different walgreens and CVS pharmacies looking for tubing for my son's nebulizer. No one had it and most were rude about it. Very frustrated and about to give up/cry, I tried one last store. Lauren answered and she was amazing! She said she had it and I told her I would be right there. When I got to the pharmacy, it was super packed both inside and out. Inside there was about 4 people in front of me so I saw this amazing crew in action! Debbie was checking out a lady who was being incredibly difficult and she had SO much patience with her. Meanwhile, a lady with glasses and short hair was assisting guests at the drive thru. She too was so kind and helpful! Jordan was my cashier. I could tell it had been a busy shift but he was still so very helpful and patient. Meanwhile, Lauren was going from- the back of the pharmacy, to the window, to the 2 cashiers- assisting, checking on guests. All with the kindest smile. Holy moly that girl was so great at her job and refreshing after dealing with awful customer service. Please let this team know how much you appreciate them. I came to this Walgreens in hopes of returning an item that I am not satisfied with, but the cashier told me that because I don't have a receipt I'm not able to return it. I let her know that I never receive paper copies of the receipts and that it should show up on my previous purchases because I have an account set up with them. She was very rude and not helpful at all. She said she could not help me since there is "no history" of me purchasing it with them. If you need photos...save yourself the time and go somewhere else. The photo clerk hid in the back and ignored me. I noticed a button to push for help on the desk and boy did that annoy him. I just needed my passport photos redone since they had made them too small and I had to schlep all the way back over here after a failed attempt downtown trying to submit my passport. A disaster. I am moving all my prescriptions elsewhere because these characters seem absolutely unable to deal with an out of town physician. Repeatedly lost prescriptions forcing me to prevail on our primary care physician to cover for their incompetence. They are also frequently rude and unable to admit they make mistakes. And, top it off, the chain clobbered my rewards points when I signed up to use the app. Over 30000 points. The parking lot is crowded and often dangerous. Anytime I think I'd like to stop at this Walgreens, I always choose to go to HEB across the street. The parking situation is difficult here and they are always very understaffed, meaning a "quick trip" to Walgreens is never really a quick trip. That never really prompted me to write a negative review until an unpleasant interaction with the photo department. I placed an easy order: just two photos. I came to pick them up and was ignored by the two employees working at the register. When they were ready to address me, I was nice and polite. I'm not a picky customer, so I didn't bother to check my photos before leaving. I really should have. Both photos cropped half of the people's faces off. Having had friends that held Walgreen's photo positions in high school, I know that they are able to adjust pictures and rotate them before they print them. When I got back to my office and saw the photos, I wondered why they hadn't. I called the photo department and very pleasantly asked if they could re-do them for me. The manager said "uuuhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... [not kidding...pretty annoying] well...YOU sent them in like that. Hold on." She puts me on hold and returns to the call saying she can move the photos down, but because "you sent them in like that," the faces still won't show." Wondering what the point of that would be, I asked her if they would at least offer them at a discounted rate. She said she would have to see if they could do that. I'd assume that the photo manager would know what is and isn't allowed. I told her I would rather take my business elsewhere. THANKS, Walgreens! This location is a real peach. read more

I hate "Woohoo" I am a huge fan of great customer service though, and this is what I got. I just moved home to San Antonio after years "in exile" in the Boston area. I have five different prescriptions, all of which were lost in transit. It's a big complicated mess of a story, involving two Walgreens stores (MA and SA), an insurance company that doesn't care, and of course...me. I THINK the woman who helped me was Cody, but I call her Angel. She talked to doctors, to the insurance company, to doctors again, to insurance company again. She got an emergency override so I could get my meds covered. But she didn't stop there. She showed me a way to get even more savings. By the time the ordeal was through, not only did I have all my meds, but I'd saved hundreds of dollars. Did I mention that I got all my meds? Did I mention that I saved hundreds of dollars? Did I mention that this never would have happened without the Angel of Walgreens? Hmmm maybe I should write a song. read more

Very poor customer service (7423 Broadway location). I had a rain check from the Austin Hwy location for store brand contact solution that was discounted a dollar or 2 from the normal price, then offered 2-for-1 with the Walgreen's card. The Austin Hwy location only had 1, so they sold it to me for the effective discount price had I bought 2 or 4--$3.00--and gave me a rain check for 4 bottles at $3/ea. Tried back twice over the next 1-1/2 weeks and they never had more than 2 bottles so decided to try the 7432 Broadway location. (I work about half way between the 2 locations, although I actually use the Broadway location more frequently.) Note that Walgreens' published policy is that all locations honor rain checks issued by their stores. I found 3 bottles at the Broadway location and on checkout the rain check was denied by the cashier. She said the discount was too much. I gently protested, showing her the receipt for the initial purchase at $3 and mentioning the published policy that all stores honor them. A manager was then called up. She took the rain check to the back, presumably to check price history, and returned to say they hadn't sold the product at that price so they wouldn't honor it. When I pointed out their corporate policy, she told me "Sometimes people steal the rain check forms." Wow. So rather than absorb the sale of 3 bottles of contact lens solution at a steep discount (quite possibly not even at a loss given it's the store brand--but even that's beside the point), they chose to alienate a regular customer. I won't be shopping at this location again. By the way, the Austin Hwy location happily sold me the product at the rain check price the following week. Kudos to the Austin Hwy location and those managing it. read more

I called in a prescription which the pharmacy claims they have to me along with two other medications I picked up last month, but I never received it the day they claim I did. I even got a message saying it was still there to pick up for a few days. I returned asking for my medication which they swear I was given the day of the other medications, false. I tried to explain that they failed to give me my third medication that day and they accused me of lying, because they have cameras, which by the way don't show which medicines you received as they're in white bags. They proceeded to tell me that 'if you look around I'm sure you'll find it'. Gee, thanks condescending jerk! I'm already panicked about not having my medicine, which is usually free with my insurance, now you treat me like a 4 year old?! I've used this place for a long time and this is not the first time something like this has happened, but it is the first time they've accused me of lying! It makes me wonder if the person working the day they claim I received my medication kept them, quite the racket. Needless to say I am switching pharmacies as soon as I can, very irritating. read more
