Perfect place for a CVS on the riverwalk. Easy access and good hours. Great spot to grab some drinks, snacks or almost any other items you may need while visiting or just popping in for some emergency needs - ie. Red Bull, cigarettes, alcohol or Band-Aids. Don't send your prescriptions here! They don't do them. Rather, this CVS is more like a small snack shop located by the Riverwalk. There's another one close by that's even closer to the river that you can only get in by way of the Riverwalk. This CVS only has a streetside entrance. I don't know what the world record is for the smallest CVS pharmacy, but this is definitely one of the smaller ones out there, so you can imagine the lack of variety in their merchandise. It's mostly snacks inside, but you'll find a few other non-food items in the rear of the shop. However, it's not very well-maintained. I came in three times during my stay in San Antonio. One just to browse around, and two to purchase a snack. On my first trip, the store was empty, and I saw two employees working at the front. On my second trip, the store had a handful of customers, but I didn't recognize an employee until he went up to the front minutes later to service a customer. I was looking around for a small snack, but I was kind of disappointed in what they had. Not that I'm comparing this to the Buc-ee's in New Braunfels, but there are a handful of snacks I would remember at other CVS locations that I couldn't find here. So the small snack I was planning to get had to be a little larger than I expected, which meant spending a little more. I got a Cheetos popcorn, which was the last one they had in stock the evening I went. That was the only item I recall that I hadn't seen before at any CVS. There might have been others, but the Cheetos popcorn was the most noticeable to me. However, upon checkout, I noticed some milk cartons lying on a table, not inside a refrigerator. I touched them, and they weren't even cold at all! Such a small store, but nobody realized the milk that's going to go bad real soon or has gone bad already? And speaking of checkout, if not for the two self-checkout stands at the front of the store, you might be waiting a while for an employee to ring you up, especially if they are assisting other customers. I made another visit on my last week here, and I was the only customer in the store at the time. There were two employees, but neither greeted me or offered to help. I wanted to get an ice cream sandwich, but the price tags were missing on a lot of them! I had to use the coupon scanner to find out the price of them. So inefficient and annoying to have to run back and forth just to find out the prices. I used the self-checkout again because I didn't think the employees were in a mood to ring me up. My suspicion was confirmed when one of them simply glanced at me without a word as I walked out the door with zero intention to make a return visit. If you're looking to make a (hopefully) quick stop to pick up a snack, and you happen to be in the immediate vicinity, this CVS will at least be there to answer your call. Otherwise, I would recommend going to some other CVS, like the other one with the Riverwalk entrance. read more

Once I arrived at the hotel, unpacked, I noticed that I was without a few items. It never matters, I always end up forgetting something. Which, I think, everyone somehow does this while on a trip. And if you were like me recently, with back to back trips, you might have forgotten a thing or two. I wound up coming here almost immediately and found that you have to enter this place via the Riverwalk. Upon entry I found the store to be cramped and not easy to navigate. There was stock all over the place. And it was odd to see the stairs that led upstairs be a chute for merchandise that needed to be on the shelves. I went around the store and picked up what I forgot. After I had those items I made my way to the snacks and drinks to stock up for the week. I went light on the drinks as water was not going to be a problem. Snacks here were a bit lacking. Especially with my dietary restrictions. But I was able to find a few things. Once I was done, and in hand with my own bag, I was back to the hotel in no time. read more

I had a Moneygram stolen from me at this location. For over $1700. I have filed a police report, contacted CVS corporate and also a civil litigation attorney. I do not trust the employees in this cvs. And believe that they could have done a better job dealing with the situation, especially the manager who had a really terrible attitude and attempted to tell me that I never entered the CVS, not knowing that I know exactly who she is and she and I have worked in the same area for the last five years. I called CVS, and despite having an early closing time due to a holiday, Desiree was able to get the prescription transferred from our home pharmacy and filled within 23 minutes! Very small CVS. Went to see if they 'by chance' had swimsuits. But they did not. More like a gas station convenience store but with a pharmacy. They are strict on homeless but I guess it's for retention. Good on them I guess. read more

Much better than VDS, which is a syndrome in which you have VD. Like so many of my exs do. Ahem. This is a nice CVS in San Antonio which has a little bit of all the stuff that you need from a pharmacy - a big box chain pharmacy at that. Not my favourite one - I like Walgreens a little bit better and Rite Aid a lot of the time - but they get the job done when needed and they're not too expensive down here in Texas which I appreciate. read more

Easily one of the warmest most humid CVS's I've ever gone too. Walking in I felt like I was hitting a butterfly exhibit. Though I'd bet folding money that if any bugs were inside they would not be of the pretty variety. Solid location in terms of its placement near hotels. We got some water, and a bottle of wine. Yes I also bought Fire Hot Cheetos but I'm on vacation, so don't judge me! The clerk was mirthless which I expect given his working conditions. Weirdly the bags they pack your things in have a weird gritty texture. So thin, that I'm sure even thinking too long about it ripping would indeed make it so. Not wanting to rummage on the dirty ground trying to save my wine and Cheetos I left nothing to chance and carried the bag from the bottom. Their beer selection was awful btw. Not that I'm expecting a craft selection but how many michelob ultras does one store need? read more

Downtown supplies! This CVS is not a full sized store, it's smaller than most of the CVS stores that I've been in. It's an a really old store-front, where they've put in considerable work to make it a modern pharmacy. They contain the prerequisite San Antonio souvenirs and a pharmacy. They also have a semi-decent beer area. The beer coolers are nicer than the rest of the store. The floors are different, and it's painted in different colors than the rest of the place. Their beer selection leaves a lot to be improved upon. They do keep a disproportionate amount of Michelob Ultra, and several weird flavors, such as the hard mango ciders or premade michiladas. You can buy your beer here, and take it over a few blocks to the Riverwalk, where you can legally drink in the open. It's a couple of blocks away. They have self check-out areas here in case you don't want to deal with the clerks. I noticed that the prices are higher here than other CVS stores that I've been in, but it's all about the location. read more

Came here for allergy medicine. The woman helped me find it right away, asked me if I needed anything. I liked their self check out. It helped me get out of their quicker. It was very clean inside, had good liquor options and had everything you needed. It is convenient to the river walk and the hotels in the area. Perfect location for your San Antonio needs and tourism needs. It is on the most Main Street in San Antonio's downtown. If you are in a rush they have a self checkout and also cashiers. This place has a RX and souvenirs. It also has what all you store usually have. Ton of people come in and they are a mixed bag of people. They can either be tourists, or locals. Being downtown you never know who's going to be there. They will take care of you and if you need help with anything they can help. read more

Good grief. A pharmacy where the pharmacy is not open on a Saturday. You can buy all the expensive toiletries, sundries, and beer you want but if you need the good allergy meds they kept behind the pharmacy counter, you'll have to go to the CVS five miles away. Total bs. Seriously. read more
