I am not someone that leaves reviews but I have to for this place. I visited the location, not a problem. Not a long wait. I called due to a concern and the receptionist was less than interested in listening to my concern and the reason for my phone call. Gave me a text book answer and suggested I had placed a call a few months back (when I did not have a concern). Then I asked to speak to a manager/supervisor. I was put on hold for a few minutes and when they finally returned, they explained that there was no one available. For an establishment that the only focus and mantra is women's care, the personnel showed no sign of that. Way to go. read more

Do not waste your time or money here. I was billed for tests I explicitly said I did not want, but were still completed. I explicitly said I only want a particular test completed. UPDATE: I waited five hours for a phone call from the manager & finally called back. She happened to answer the phone this time and was able to sort out the issue with my upcoming procedure appointment immediately. She was wonderful so if you have an issue ask to speak to the manager (I didn't catch her name). BEWARE - If you have Medicare insurance you can only see an MD at this practice and the MD is only in this location on Mondays. I visited twice and was not told this so scheduled a follow-up appointment on a Wednesday & had to cancel it. The doctor & nurses were very kind/comforting, but the front desk/receptionists at this location have proven themselves to be lazy (didn't want to schedule my follow up appt in person), uninformed or outright lied (told me the doctor would perform my procedure right away at my first appointment & it turned out all he would do is an initial exam), rude (nasty on the phone), and inept (told me a manager would call me ASAP & no one ever called me back). I'm really disappointed because the medical staff was truly great and medical services like this are needed in our community, but the front of house staff represents the practice and are the first ones we must interact with and they are sincerely hurting the credibility of this establishment. Is good! I don't know why so many bad reviews, many because the receptionist is not nice lol. The doctors and PA are great. No appointments needed, walk in. Is such a relief that you don't need an appointment for you gynecologist. Just walk in, sign in the sheet and that's it! I been coming here since last year and is great. They are fast, they know what they are doing and they communicate with you by their webpage. You dont need to go again if your labs come with another thing. They will send you a message and your prescription will be at the Pharmacy you have in file. I went to Walkin GYN 4 or 5 times because I knew something was wrong and I didn't have health insurance. The first time I had an abnormal pap and they said it wasn't a big deal because it was LSIL and to come back in a year. The second time they took blood and did an ultrasound and said my pain was because "I was gassy". The third time, or maybe the fourth?, I got a colposcopy and she asked "had I been sexually assaulted?" She didn't believe me when I said no and asked me multiple times. Ladies... IT WAS A 6CM TUMOR ON MY CERVIX THAT SHE WAS LOOKING AT!!! SHE DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT CERVICAL CANCER LOOKED LIKE!!! Oh, and the "gassiness" that the other idiot saw on the ultrasound? A goofballs sized tumor on my iliac lymph nodes. After two years of dancing around with these idiots (I have been to three of their locations and seen multiple "nurses/doctors/NPs") I finally went to see a real doctor and found out that I have advanced stage CC. I've been coming here for the last 7 months ever since I moved to New York. I really appreciate this place. I have never had to wait longer than an hour to be seen (I usually walk in with no appointment). Every time I've come in the staff has been very nice. I love that most of the providers here are either NPs or PAs! In my experience they tend to give more attention to detail and time for questions and thorough discussion. It holds true here. Every concern or question I have brought up has always been answered with patience and compassion. I truly feel heard and respected when seen by these providers and that's sometimes hard to find in healthcare. I definitely recommend! read more

I can see at least 4 people not wearing their masks correctly and it's not addressed. I have an appointment and they said I still have to wait. Why don't you tell people this before you get here. The doctors and staff are incompetent at the Astoria Walk-in clinic. I went for my annual Gyn appointment in August. My pap came back abnormal, so I was told I would need to have a pelvic ultrasound, endo-cervical biopsy and a colposcopy. The endo appointment and the ultrasound went ok, but my experience with the colposcopy was beyond horrible. I went in on Sunday because my medication was not called in and my appointment was Monday morning. I was prescribed Midol Complete 500-60-15 MG and Cytotec 200 MCG to take 8 hours prior to the procedure. The Cytotec 200 causes severe abdominal pain, cramping, bloating and nausea. I woke up and took it at 3am, because my appointment was at 11am. I started having horrible pain at 5am, so I was never able to go back to sleep. It took everything in me to get up and get to the clinic for the procedure due to the severe pain I was in. When I got into the clinic I couldn't even sit up straight due to the pain. Monique Brown the office manager talked to me about the pain, the medication and offered me water. I went into the room at which time Dr. Michael Tonsor came into the room and very nonchalantly informed me that they did not have the camera equipment needed to complete the procedure. He stated they would try to get one from another location or the procedure would have to be rescheduled. I feel this is unacceptable and very inconsiderate, when I was in pain from 5am preparing for this procedure. My appointment wasn't until 11am, so there is no excuse that they didn't assure that the proper equipment was available to complete the procedure. Now the procedure have not been completed, which can be bad for my overall health. This was extremely unprofessional from the doctor and the office manager. I will definitely be filing several complaints regarding this issue. DO NOT GOT HERE FOR YOUR GYN CARE. DO NOT PUT YOUR HEALTH IN THE HANDS OF INCOMPETENT PEOPLE. read more

The receptionist are extremely rude and will hang up on you if they don't want to deal with your situation. The doctors are not doctors, they are practitioners who prescribe incorrect medications and fail to properly send your test to the lab for accurate results. The wait time is 3 hours even with an appointment. They also don't tell you this when you come in. I've had multiple bad experiences here and the only reason I've been back is location. If you have a question for the providers about your medication or test results be prepared to never receive a call back. The receptionist will do nothing to relay your message. Its been 2 weeks and I still don't have medication for a painful infection. Make sure that the provider seeing you actually accepts your insurance because they won't tell you that they don't and you will have to pay $$$. It's truly a scam. read more

TLDR: If you go here and they tell you that you have a cyst or if you already know you have endometriosis, ask for more info or get your ultrasound and go see a specialist before you end up in chronic pain and unable to get a spot for surgery for months. Expect to be waiting to be seen for AT LEAST 1-2 hours (if not more), and don't expect thorough/thoughtful care when you are finally seen because there are absolutely too many patients here at once for that to happen. I am not a complainer, but this practice truly failed me as a patient. They diagnosed me with a large ovarian cyst in October. This was an incidental finding at my annual exam (checking my IUD placement) that I was not expecting. First of all, I waited for THREE HOURS to be seen, and when the doctor finally met with me to discuss the results of the ultrasound, there was really no patient education done. She did not explain to me that my cyst appeared to be complex. She did not ask me any further questions about symptoms and sent me on my way, totally perplexed. In fact, she told me most cysts are normal, and they usually just go away on their own, so I left with a false sense of hope that it was just going to be fine, and that I didn't need to do anything else for three months when they wanted to do a followup ultrasound. However, over that time, I developed daily pain. When I went back in January, I was finally able to ask the doctor what type of cyst they thought I had, and I was told it looked complex. However, they were unable to help me, as they could not get my insurance to approve the ultrasound. Instead of helping me pursue an appeal, they urged me to pay out-of-pocket because "that's what most of our patients do in this case." I did my own research after finding out it was a complex cyst and likely needed surgery, and I finally managed to find a specialist elsewhere. Had I known that the cyst was not away, but was only going to get larger and more painful (as the surgeon explained is usually the case for these cysts) and that the larger it gets the more complicated the surgery and the higher the risk fo infertility, I would have had surgery three months ago. Unfortunately, I've had to postpone a very important licensing exam in March that I've been studying for for the past six months, and I'm barely able to function on a daily basis due to pain. Back in November, I was still able to function, and I could have avoided this agony and complete disruption to my life. For my second appointment, I waited 1 hour in a waiting room with people who had their masks under their noses (staff said nothing) before they told me that they could not get an ultrasound approved by my insurance. Why did they not call ahead of time to approve the procedure with my insurance like other medical practices? The appointment had been scheduled for three months. Not only that, they took my co-payment up front, and I was never actually seen. Lastly, walk-in appts should not be put ahead of people with scheduled appts. For instance, with the ultrasound, I had had a followup scan scheduled for three months, and I was told that there were 4 people ahead of me, and I would have to wait. Why wouldn't you schedule those folks to come in at a different time? Why would you make people with scheduled appointments wait behind walk-ins? Taking walk-ins is great, but people with scheduled appointments should be prioritized first. Those of us who thought ahead to schedule probably have somewhere to be. I wish I could give them zero stars !!! A two hour wait is the minimum and I'm sorry but that is not ok ...I went in for a routine checkup and they ordered so many tests but the most important test was not processed .... I went again to redo the test and waited another 2 hours !! There are no real doctors just nurse practitioners and although most are good they are still not doctors and depending on the day there are different practitioners... no one picks up the phone and you gave no way to communicate with them even through yet patient portal ... Unless you need routine care this place is not for you !!! They are not to be be considered an alternative to an actual medical doctor ... I would stay away unless you need to be seen asap and even then they are incompetent... find an obgyn in your area these people will waste your time and do as many test to make your insurance pay for no reason !!! I have been a patient here for 4+ years and love the staff here. The facility is clean and for a walk-in clinic they see patients very quickly. Last year the medical assistant was having issues finding my veins for blood ended up pricking me 3 times. She was nice but It was not pleasant. This year just a couple of days ago I went for my annual and medical assistant Monica was superb ! She took two tubes of blood in a matter of seconds and she found my vein right away! The entire process I kid u not room 30 seconds. It was painless I didn't feel a thing. I was pretty satisfied with the visit especially because all other doctors are busy with this corona virus. They got me right in, everyone was nice, place was clean, staff friendly. BUT they were to send my Rx to my pharmacy and never did. I called them from the pharmacy to tell them and she told me she'd call me right back. She never did. I originally thought this place was great until I really needed more than an annual. I was misdiagnosed twice, first by the PA (who sent me for an unnecessary CT scan) then the GYN who said it was something else completely. Had to see a specialist at another Walk-in GYN location. She had a different diagnosis (performed another ultrasound both interior and exterior when it was done the month before at the first location) and set me up with two appts for further testing and pelvic floor exercise. They cancelled the exercise less then 24 hours before the appt when it was booked two months in advance. I had already scheduled a 2nd opinion with Mt Sinai given the two times being misdiagnosed. Please tell me how this makes sense. I have a 2:30 pm appointment and I am still waiting, as I type this, at 3:36 Pm because they accommodate walk ins on a "2 walks in, 1 appointment" protocol. So what exactly is the point of making an appointment? Ultimately you are just making the people who have appointments suffer and get delayed when clearly appointments are made so that you don't have to sit somewhere for one hour before you are seen. I understand and appreciate the need to accommodate walk ins but it should be the OTHER way around. I chose this place as it was conveniently located near my apartment. This will be the last time. Cannot rain enough praises on this clinic. I had a wonderful experience from the moment I walked in until the moment I received treatment. I had a sore spot I was worried and finally decided I needed medical attention without breaking the bank Sunday morning. I saw that they were open, walked in, and was seen in 15 min. Everyone was so kind and professional. Not only did I get the care I needed but ended up paying less than $75 as a copay! They also do a very nice job of catering to women - it comes through in the way the facility is set up and the detailed questions they ask. Prescriptions were also ready in 2 hours. I am patient of Walk-in GYN for last 7-8yrs. In these years i was seen by doctors only couple of times, mostly Nurse practitioners attended me. I have history of PCOS & inconsistent Pap results & also newly detected pea size fibroid at outer wall of uterus. Dr./NP they all said i could conceive naturally if i lose some weight or with the help of fertility specialist. I was hopeful that i may one day. Recent visit (Aug 2021) my case was assigned to Dr. Chokshi. This visit was a final nail to the coffin, I am never going back! I have never met such unprofessional, negative dr. in life! With no recent blood/hormone tests in past 1 year he just blankly told me that i wont be able to conceive anymore since i am over age 40 even though i am still menstruating. Its not like he is well experienced to know it all. Upon doing research on him i found out that he has less than 5 yrs experience! Other GYN's have been constantly monitoring my test reports. My previous ultra sound & blood test was done a year ago. It was time for my next yearly routine hormone test and he refused to do saying no need! Doctors gives hope & their diagnose should be based on test results. He just shoved his general observation into my case without caring for my emotions. I am restless & worrisome ever since i returned from that visit. Fertility is a very sensitive topic for women, he surely scored 0 with his insensitivity. He shattered my hope with his general theory. Each case is different! I regret for choosing him. He scared the hell out of me until i see another dr. which is after 6 months! I have seen many GYNs in life & NONE sent me home without giving hope. This dr. Chokshi needs lot of training on how to talk to patients. The front staff and others are awesome but they serve no purpose without proper care and actual gyn dr. visit. read more

This review is for the Manhattan location*** Have been coming here for years and every time I come I am seen pretty much on time, perhaps 15-20 minutes after my appointment which isn't too bad for a gyno in New York City. They have a patient portal that is easy and convenient to use, I use it to mostly talk to my doctor about any concerns. They take insurance and have a reasonable copay. Every time I would come in I would see a different doctor or nurse practitioner and it was not consistent, which bothered me because I like having a relationship with my doctors. My biggest complaint is that I got an ultrasound since I expressed interest in the copper IUD, and then weeks later they tell me that they are not able to provide me with the IUD since the company they work with doesn't provide them. WHAT!?! So I basically got an ultrasound for nothing. I will be going to another doctor, this place is a walk-in kind of place, which is convenient for most people, but not right for me at all! Something's as small as not having masks available for patients or charging for masks to misdiagnosed and miscommunication amongst staff. Where do I start from the front desk to the service here. I initially thought walk in gyn was going to be convenient for me. The front desk is horrible, nasty and rude. The gynecologists here don't know what they're doing. All I kept getting sent were multiple prescriptions to my pharmacy over and over again. So much medication that my body was aching. My issue was never resolved and all I get an answer from dr. Gupta is "it will take time for my ph to get balanced" not helpful at all. I do not recommend this place. The doctor is always so nice and friendly, she makes me feel so comfortable (I'm a highly anxious person) and calm. This place is fine if you already have self-diagnosed yourself for something simple, and just want some meds. Otherwise, STAY AWAY. Too many times I've been either misdiagnosed and given meds for nothing (or the wrong meds) or just mistakes were made with my chart. This last time was the last straw, as I went in for a specific complaint, they took a swab, and ended up ordering a test for something completely different. This place is a mess. If you have a regular doctor, have them try to squeeze you in. Otherwise, enter at your own risk. PS - A patient came in without a mask, and they could not provide her with one, saying "theyre all on backorder and we need our for the staff." With all the extraneous bs billing, youd think they would have $5.00 to grab a few extra masks for their patients. Bad. read more

SCAM, Stay Away!!! ...if you have a deductible or pay cash just stay away of this place. My wife went there for an annual check up..our insurance is In Network but the deductible is high so we paid for everything...the bill was $600, they billed us for all the test and $75 for the visit (even when the visit was only for the tests)...but also they billed us another $75 for the results picking up...a process that took literally 2 minutes and could have been done by email or phone...it was something like "all good, you can go"....literally. I complained about the $75 for the picking (cause there was nothing I could do about the $500 for two ultrasounds and a few blood tests) and they did not care...an idiot from their office answered me back after several emails and phone calls sarcastically suggesting me to put the $75 in a payment plan... I wish I had read all the rest of the reviews here before going to this place...Find a better place, there are a lot of doctors out there without the dishonest billing practices of this place...STAY AWAY!!! read more

The people at the front desk do not know how to do their job properly. A women gave me the wrong lab results I asked for on the phone. She did not give me the option to console with an actual doctor or give any further instructions on what to do. Just simply picked up and hung up. Very rude. They need to change their front desk asap because not only are they rude on the phone they are rude in person. If you do not like working simply do not work. This place may be convenient for appointments but is TERRIBLE in every other way. I needed a prescription refilled and reached out a month and half prior to needing the refill. The doctors office called me and confirmed they would call in the prescription and call me back once it was done. I never received a call and I'm the weeks to follow: - Called doctors office, no answer, left a message - Emailed office, received a response that they would call in prescription, never did - Messaged doctor directly through patient portal, received a response that they would call in prescription, never did - Called doctors office, no answer, left a message - Call pharmacy who says they have reached out twice and not received a response *Day of needing the prescription refilled immediately as I have now run out* - Called doctors office, no answer, left a message - Go in person to speak with the receptionist who promises they will call it in and call me to confirm - Call pharmacy 3 hours later, have still not received prescription - Go back to doctors office in person and finally sit there until they call it in On top of all the above, the receptionist seemed like he could not be bothered even though I was very respectful and understanding despite my frustration. This is the worst patient service I have ever received and you should never need to fight this hard to get a prescription that is needed. Would not recommend going here at all. read more

Good facility. Dr's are nice, thorough. Just DO NOT MAKE AN APPOINTMENT! Just do a walkin because you will be on the same walkin list in the same place that you are as if a walkin. That just made the whole experience more frustrating for me. Had I just walked in it would have been fine. But 2 hours later walking out. Again good facility, good Dr's, good bedside manner. I second Brooke's review - I was truly excited about this concept had a positive experience at the office itself. I found the doctors to be very nice and caring. Unfortunately my positive experience in the office itself was overshadowed by their post-visit billing practices which I found to be disorganized, confusing and truly shocking given the straightforward fees they advertise in their office. A month after two office visits, I receive two separate bills totaling almost $600 for just the two visits - and this was with in-network insurance! When I called the office to inquire about the two separate bills (one from a lab and one from their office), I was told that their laboratory and the billing department for their office are separate, so they couldn't shed any light on the lab fees and that I was responsible for both. I paid the bills just to be done with them, but unfortunately I don't think I will be returning here. read more

Generally convenient for walk-ins for general questions and routine pap smears with a variety of service providers. Two cons: 1. Ridiculously hard to get basic answers to questions between visits (e.g,. did insurance paperwork come through? have you canceled my appointment? Did my IUD arrive?) Get ready to chase them down by email and phone. 2. The only actual licensed gynecologist working at the 57th location is male. So if you're not comfortable with a male gynecologist, make your appointments somewhere else! Wish I had known that earlier. PAs can do the basic stuff but apparently you need a 8 years of education and a degree to put in an IUD. read more

I felt inclined to leave a review as I looked at yelp prior to my visit and only saw the initial review! I scheduled a last minute sort of emergency appointment and I was so excited to have a variety of times to choose from which often isn't the case for OBGYN appointments. I was also thrilled about the proximity to where I live in Astoria (if you're not within walking distance like me, it's right next to the Astoria boulevard stop which I also think is convenient!) I'm not sure why, but I was concerned with the name Walk-in, as if it would be indicative of more of a low quality clinic but they proved me wrong immediately. I was contacted prior to my visit with electronic new patient paperwork which I always love because it makes the check-in process so much faster and easier. I did this prior to the visit and got my confirmation email, but for some reason it didn't work and still had to fill out paperwork in the office which was fine. The office was very clean and welcoming with a wealth of information and resources which I loved. They offer all services you'd find at a "normal" OBGYN clinic! I scheduled an appointment to see a PA, which was made clear in advance, and she was wonderful. She answered all of my questions and did a great job. I will most definitely be back for my routine appointment and recommend this place to my friends! read more
