I just sold our home on Mount Desert Island which was filled with some significant pieces of art…read moreand furniture which we have collected from all over the world during the course of our travels these past 21 years. We knew we would be in a difficult position given how long it will take to build a new house. The first step was to find a competent mover and I consider myself lucky that someone my wife and I trust very much recommended Kevin Braley. Once we spoke with Kevin we readily recognized his experience and competence (he has plenty of references for same) and we hired him to take on the challenge for us. Next step was finding a place to put everything. In this regard we were fortunate enough to secure a storage locker after being told there were no climate-controlled units available by every place we contacted because Kevin had an "in" with one in Ellsworth. To increase the rate of difficulty; Kevin had to divide the loads between the storage unit and the home we will be living in for the next couple years while our new one is built, and even more challenging; the home we were moving out of is an architectural marvel that has seven stories ( A mover's nightmare I'm sure, and those guys will probably wake up in the middle of the night screaming for weeks!) I'll cut to the chase - Kevin and his crew did an absolutely amazing job!!! Their competence and compassion put my nerved-up wife at ease and I actually found myself having fun with the guys as they took care of the job over the course of 2 days. I HIGHLY recommend Kevin and his team and would encourage anyone considering them to reach out to me directly and I'll give a more detailed accounting of all that transpired. Thank you Kevin!!!

I have used this company (it's actually Kevin Braley and whomever he can line up) for the past few…read moreyears to move lawn furniture, etc., in and out of my barn in a historic listed house in Ellsworth. He is loud mouthed and disparaging (misogynistic - I am a single, middle aged, and successful businesswoman) and hater when I put up a political sign on my yard that did not jive with his politics "now you will have to pay cash if I decide to work for you (never a problem with my checks before political sign). Hater also in regards to art and antiques, because his chief occupation is moving for Marden's discount store. My house sold at the beginning of the busy summer season, thus I turned to him for help, bc no one else was available. I entrusted this guy to take on the job of moving house for me, which involved 25+ rooms filled with art and antiques, to a 9 room house. much had to be put into 2 storage units, a two car detached garage in Bar Harbor, and the house. If you have any art, antiques, valuables, Run, do Not Walk from this unprofessional personage. He provided zero estimate, did not supervise the young guys whom he put in charge. I had to provide the supervision, while under the stress of packing and organizing a large household of 20+ years with no help. The few times that he popped in, it was "You're not my only customer. I'm busy." Basically shut the "F" up, little woman. Meanwhile, his two young helpers were scrambling to get everything out. At Kevin's request, I had provided images of things to be moved by them, and valuables, Art, antiques, crystal, china, etc., that would be moved by me. All was disregarded, resulting in breakage of several irreplaceable antiques. While his pathetic "team" of two young guys with no oversight were destroying my stuff, which I had painstakingly organized over the course of the 6 previous weeks, he was off on other jobs, only returning at dusk on drop dead moving day to bluster, insult, and present me with a shocking bill of $4k. I only paid it because he promised to return that week and sort out the mess he'd made, between the storage units and the new house. I overheard him telling a moving assistant what "garbage" he thought that my stuff is. "Who has junk like this?" I told hi. that it hurt my feelings. I was exhausted, and vulnerable at that point. Once the check had cleared, he said he wouldn't be following through, because I had objected to the fact that his guy destroyed a valuable antique Rookwood jardiniere, with an "oops." If you have any nice things, from my experience, RUN, do NOT WALK from this unprofessional, chaotic, verbally abusive, and haphazard moving guy. I plan on seeing him in court, but that only prolongs the pain and disappointment. The final straw was when he told me, after having accepted and botched the job, "you should've hired a 'professional' moving company" (?!).
