I just visited Wallace's to purchase Preen Weed Preventer. They had a 5.625 lb container for $39.99. I thought that seemed high so I checked Home Depot. They had the exact same product for $21.97. I was attending a conference in Bettendorf and was looking for Lavender for a friend in Des Moines. Sure enough, they had exactly what I needed. When I explained I was coming in an Uber and needed to hurry to get back for a dinner meeting, they got everything ready for me. Great customer service by phone and in-person. This place is consistently busy, and they have the lanes and arrows to navigate traffic in the parking lot to prove it. Very wide selection of plants, flowers, and gardening accessories/tools. Pretty pricey here but they are one of the best garden centers in terms of variety in the Quad City area. Plenty of helpful workers are always available and shoutout to Amy H. Amy was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and went above and beyond with her service to help my mother find what she needed to. Wallace's Garden Center is more than that! It is an experience! I used to live in the Q.C. and I visit quite often. When I am in town, going to Wallace's is a tradition. They offer a lot of great plants and decorative pots. They have every garden accessory that you need. If you want to start or add to your fairy garden, this is the place to go. As I said earlier this is more than a garden store. It is a gift store as well. Wallace's offers a large selection of unique gifts that you won't find anywhere else. Wallace's is a great place to visit even if you're not looking to stock up on gardening supplies. It's beautiful inside and out, with some space dedicated to inside decor and jewelry, and tons more to the beautification of your patio, lawn, and garden. This is one of the only nursery or garden centers that isn't a chain and they really do have a great selection. I love just going and walking around. The thing that I don't like is the complete lack of customer service. Several of the employees on multiple occasions have just been down right rude. It seems they prefer to cater to the elderly geranium buying crowd. The only helpful and happy employee is the elderly gentleman outside. I would save yourself the misery and go to their Davenport location, it is much smaller but the people working there are happy to help and very knowledgeable. read more

Wallace's is great year-round, but my favorite time of year to come here is Christmas time! The store is really big - there is a huge greenhouse in the back that they fill with poinsettias (other plants during the other times of the year). There are a plethora of poinsettias here - all different sizes and colors. They also sell Christmas trees (both fake a real), and they will deliver them for you. The store area is filled with home decor, as well as garden decor. You can find ornaments, gifts, candles, lamps, wreaths, you name it! We spent a long time here just browsing. They have a few places that you can take photos, and during the holidays they will sometimes have people giving out wine tastings and popcorn. It's a fun place to come if you like gardening and landscaping (and it's fun even if you don't!). read more

This is a wonderful garden center. They offer everything you could possibly need for your yard. With that said, the customer service is lacking in friendliness. The customer service employees, young ladies, seem to be very unhappy with their position at Wallace's. They were cold and not helpful. Don't ask any questions, cause they may get offended. We were pleased with everything after purchasing over $500 of trees and shrubs. 2 weeks later the crabapple has serious Japanese Beetle. We thought that this was most unusual however they indicated that we could purchase the appropriate treatment for $30. No other beetle problems in our neighborhood. Sorry, we thought that they should have assisted in correcting this problem and suspected that the manisfestation had already started at the nursery. We spend a lot of money at Wallace's each year... Whether it's indoor plants, holiday stuff, our outdoor plants and shrubs. We are generally ok paying the higher prices at Wallace's because we appreciate quality. The only reason I am giving 4 stars (vs 5) is because the sales people in the store (esp the cashiers) are consistently the grumpiest, non-smiling, unfriendly staff of workers in the QC. There are a few exceptions, but I would advise the owners/managers to reassess their approach to customer service and customer relations. About time for the grumpy, cashiers to crack a smile, offer a kind word, and not come off like i as a customer should consider myself lucky to hand my money over to them... read more
