We rented tent for our 4th of July celebration. Unfortunately, there was some bad weather the night before and our tent went down, K & K was closed for the Holiday, so i left voicemail and email, they quickly responded and sent a team out to put up new Tent! They saved our celebration as it rained then got very hot, we had a band from out of town so we appreciate what K & K did for us. I would recommend them for all party rentals, I have previously used them for other party planning and it has always been a great experience. My wife and I went shopping for a new gas grille today. We purchased our current gas grille from K&K 9 years ago, so naturally K&K was the first place we visited. We first talked to a nice young high school looking girl, but she knew very little about their grills. We then asked to speak to a manager. A very unfriendly manager, a gentleman, arrived a few minutes later to answer our questions. We asked if they would haul away our old grille. He said yes, but when we told him it was on our deck, he said we would have to remove it from the deck and put it somewhere else. Also, he told us that when they delivered the new grille, they couldn't place in on our deck , due to liability issues. Our deck is 14 inches (2 steps) off the ground so I found that unusual. My wife and I are almost 70 years old so we wouldn't be able to lift a 150 lb. grille onto our deck. He offered no solutions to this problem, except for saying it'll be up to the delivery guys if they want to do that. We clearly got the impression the manager could care less if he sold us a grille today. Over the years, I've purchased lawn mowers, snow throwers, and all sorts of lawn and garden equipment from K&K. This was clearly the worst experience I've ever had. Needless to say, we won't be purchasing a new gas grille from them. Suggestion - their employees and managers need some serious customer service training. read more

Don't overlook this hometown treasure! I have been shopping at K&K since my father took me as a young child. Now with 3 grown children of my own, this is still my go to store. They carry Desolve-it, the only thing I will use to remove impossible laundry stains. They carry all of the difficult to find products that I rely on! Not to mention the most unexpected gift and housewares Department. The best spot for Willowtree figurines. Don't forget gift wrapping. I feel like the owners greet everyone like an old friend! I haven't even started , yet. I am always able to find the perfect gifts for my Dad. Their sporting goods department has all of his favorite fishing gear and the knowledgeable staff has never steered me wrong. For my favorite Rapala lures, They are the place. When we bought our first home, thirty years ago, no matter what needed repair, K&K was there! They have walked me through so many plumbing disasters. Repairing an older home, I know that I can walk in and find the exact part that I need. (I have brought in a random screw and they immediately walk to exactly what I need to complete my repair.). I simply cannot put into words how much I love this store! Some things simply need to be experienced in person. K&K has played a small role in every one of my life's milestones. Please shop local. Fantastic people, product selection, and service! They are the only true hardware store besides big box stores in this area and well worth the trip to Bettendorf. Give yourself plenty of time just to scan all their myriad of products. As for services, not only do they sharpen all types of blades from kitchen to mower, fix window screens, but they also repair lamps at a very reasonable cost! This was my father's favorite Saturday store for the fifties, sixties, and seventies and is now mine. I have so many good memories of him taking me by the hand and teaching what was needed to fix everything from squeaky floor to running toilet tank. This is a great spot to do business. While not located in a main area of town where people shop. It's easy to get to. A really nice neighborhood hardware store. Not huge like their competitors. So I never get lost inside. I can easily locate the items I'm looking for. Also the prices are quite affordable. If I ever have any questions, somebody is always nearby. The employees are friendly down to earth. Speaking to them is like talking to an old friend. One of the many reasons K&K has been around forever. read more

I have been buying at area hardware stores in the Quads for over 3 decades and I have restored 2 pre WW2 houses and I can truly say that K&K is one of the last REAL hardware stores in our community. Their employees are kind and helpful and the store treats them well since the same employees have been there for decades. As a result, they bring knowledge and experience when you need help finding items for a project. Their services and rental departments are great as well. The services departments (including the mower shop) have helped me with so many little projects over the years and satisfaction has always been guaranteed. I feel that K&K got 2 pretty unfair negative reviews for the rental department. If you have a problem, they are more than willing to work it out with you. In one case K&K tried to address the customer's concerns in many ways: fixing the problem and adjusting the price but that wasn't enough for that customer. In the other case, I feel she has a grind with everyone and she clearly doesn't have a clue regarding price increases....hello can you say trade wars etc. You really can't compare K&Ks prices for rentals to other companies as they rent so many items that nobody else does and at more flexible by the hour rates. I can give many for instances but I won't bore you with those details. I don't know what rental prices she was comparing but I doubt she examined the entire picture. It seems as though she went to the store once and felt compelled to leave a very unfair review for some reason. Hence I feel compelled to leave a review after 30 plus years of overall positive experiences to say thanks to K&K. I hope you will be remain available to serve our community for many more decades. read more

This is the place to go for all those weird gadgets, thing-a-ma-gig's and questions. The whole staff is knowledgable, not like many of the "box stores", so you can get in and out easily. They also have a great rental department to get the right tools for each job. read more

This review is specific to the rental department; we have always loved K&K store for hardware/household needs and we were so disappointed to discover their rental department was terrible. I rented chairs, tables, and a tent for a bridal shower I hosted in my home. The items were delivered very dirty. The chairs were cleaned at my request, but the crew told me they could not, and would not, clean the inside of the tent. Dirt and mud all inside the "ceiling" of the tent and it looked awful. Three different people at K&K rental told me there was nothing they could do. Finally the store manager - while rude to me, did sent someone out to clean it and it looked much better. This took hours and a lot of stress and is not what you want when you are hosting an event! Go elsewhere for rental needs. read more

Apparently my opinion of K&K Hardware went over like a lead balloon with the response I received from the company?. I am simply stating facts, the pricing is WAY too much on many, many items comparable to other retail locations in the QCA. Their online pricing is less than in the store also, which is very strange for a business. I have nothing against this longtime company. I have always heard good things about it, and when I am unable to find something I need elsewhere, such as a little tiny screw or strange part, I hear repeatedly "K&K". Perhaps this store is in line with pricing for their area? Demographics (Bettendorf) play into pricing too, you go to True Value, say in another part of the QCA totally different price for same said item. I have encountered this with HyVee too. Same company, different address, they can command any price they desire, higher or lower. Not too many people realize this if they aren't watching their wallets or know their retail prices. but like I originally said I saw prices 2-3 times of any other place for the exact same item. This I am sorry Casey is not "fair pricing". Yes I gvve them high marks for their help, their employees really care to help customers, that is hard to find nowadays. Apparently the potshot at my other reviews taken makes me appear to be some nitpicking customer. NO, I am not, I expect value for my money any place I go to and also good customer service and reasonable prices, period.. I am not some snob who is above anyone. Yes there are many businesses that are wonderful around here that I frequent over and over. But I don't have the time to review every single business I frequent under the sun, I have a life. many people who run businesses I frequent know me when I walk in and ask how my day is going, and I ask how their day and all is going also. It is terrific. I have been to many restaurants where they know a fav dish of mine and they say "would you like the same....?" That is pretty hard to find. But very appreciated. K&K's help is very appreciated too. They seem to know about their items. That is a rare find in today's society. I commend them for it. I have been to K&K many times over the yrs. But since the economy took a nosedive, I haven't had any need to go there, nothing I have needed. And the pricing has gone way up. The economy, demographics, who knows why. I have lived in other states and also around the world. I also have worked in market research and understand how customers think. It is fascinating. But I am not going to sugarcoat any of my reviews, simply state the truth and facts. It is my humble opinion. As I respect other people's opinions. I stand by my opinion and defend it. read more

K&K is amazing. Expert advice, brilliant help, great advice. I used them to get a latch for my storm door that was 15 years old. After a fair amount of homework on their part, they were able to locate the last one in stock at the factory. Every time I go there my needs are met quickly and correctly.
